Stopped by Georgia Blue to meet a friend for an early dinner. I ordered the turnip green bites as an appetizer. They were so good. My friend has tried them before and didn't like them but she tried them tonight and when I told her the sauce was the spicy kick she was tasting, she liked it once she stopped dipping them in the sauce. She ordered the hodge podge po-boy with the fried shrimp and catfish. I ordered the fpt + praline blt with onion strings. She has had bad experiences with food but really enjoyed her po-boy today, stating she would definitely get it again. I did like my sandwich and I'm glad I got the mayo on the side since I don't think it would have gone good with the fried green tomato. The bread was toasted to perfection. Only complaint I had was the onion strings tasted like they had been fried in old grease. Avery M was our server and she was very good. Stopped in for a quick solo dinner and grabbed a seat at the bar. The bartender was friendly and the atmosphere was comfortable for dining alone. Ordered the Cajun catfish after browsing the menu with my beer. The dish came with four small deep-fried fillets arranged around a generous portion of Cajun rice, all served over their house Cajun sauce. The Good: The catfish had a perfectly light, crispy coating - not greasy at all. The rice was nicely spiced and sticky (just how I like it), and the portion was generous. Everything was cooked properly and well-presented. The Not-So-Good: The fillets were pretty small - only 2-3 bites each, which left me wanting more substantial pieces for a dinner portion. The Cajun sauce was disappointingly mild; I expected more heat and complexity from something labeled "Cajun." Bottom Line: Solid execution and good technique in the kitchen, but the small portion size and mild flavors held it back from being impressive. The service was good and I'm curious about their other menu items. I'll definitely be back to try other dishes - this place shows promise, just wasn't blown away by this particular plate. Attended a wedding here and was very impressed with many things including the food! The "dynamite shrimp" seems to be a hit with many people here, and though I had not heard of it before that night, by the END of the night I had consumed more shrimps than many others there had probably eaten their whole lives. The classic fried catfish was also new to me and I didn't eat as much as the shrimps but it was still very good! The menu of this location spoke to this Southern boy's heart. So many delightful things, I ended up there twice: once for takeout and once for dine in. For takeout, I tried the duck and sausage gumbo...with rice. I know, apparently I'm silly to not try it with potato salad - but that's just sacrilegious to me. Gumbo is served with white rice. But this dish was perfect: rich, spicy enough and filling. Dining in, I tried the crawfish salad with sautéed tails and a vinegarette. A perfect salad. Plus having some fried pickles before balanced everything out as they were not too breaded and not too oily. The ambiance on a Saturday night was bluesy and busy. We had a party of 25 (Girls Night Out) visit tonight. It took a while to be served and prolly overwhelmed our waiter! But all and all it gave our family a time to visit and have a few laughs. Went to the restroom and just about slipped down on the floor. We had a burger & fries, Caesar salad, and gumbo. The salad was ok, the gumbo was a little warm with some rice cold. Our waitress, Blue, was such a doll. I don't usually have excellent service from the younger generation, but she was excellent. She checked on us numerous times and when my husband and I had questions about their beer menu, she was quick about getting us an answer. I even dropped a glass on the floor and her team was quick to come and help her. We ordered shrimp and grits, ziti pasta and two kids entrees. Food was hot and quick to come out. Great food and experience. I came in from out of town to visit on Christmas Eve of 2023 and went back, before they closed, for a second dinner. Spinach and crawfish dip...amazing. I had the Seafood Linguine, jumbo shrimp, crawfish & linguine tossed in cajun alfredo with tomatoes & onions and I added fried chicken to it as well. Magnificent!! The fried green tomatoes were on point. My friend had Shrimp & Fried Chicken Ziti and she loved it. The Seafood Pastas are bangers.
