What a cool place! So much ambiance!! Crazy ambiance. The only reason not 5 stars: got the burger - great. Cooked to temp and huge. Issues: up charge for switching to the portobello fries (awesome). Same price as regular fries so I m uncertain why there was an up-charge? I hate places that nickel and dime you. The ambiance is why i gave 4 stars. 1 star for up charge. Service from bartender made up the difference. Someone needs to manage the kitchen better! So much ambiance. The $16 deviled eggs came with 2 whole eggs (4 halves), but were tasty. The fish tacos and Mac & cheese, although pretty, lacked flavor. My coworker and I visited this place while in town on business. I love the concept. It's an old house, looks like an old plantation house, turned into a restaurant/bar. When you drive up the front of the house has the big white columns and lots of windows. It definitely looks like a place that used to own slaves. I found a staircase while looking for the bathroom that was hidden and figured that was for the "help." The dining area is not very spacious, but it went along with the theme. Our table was super close to the others around it, you had no choice but to get to know your neighbors. I got a drink recommended by our server. It was so good, but I can't remember the name or her name. We had just eaten, so we didn't get food, but our neighbors seemed to be enjoying their food. The service was amazing here. Everyone was so gracious and kind. Everyone was dressed professionally and seemed to enjoy themselves. Our drinks came out super fast too. I explored the space a bit to find a restroom. That's when I saw that little staircase. The bathroom was cute and clean. The house looked a bit like a museum. I'd go back again to at least have a chance to try some food. read more

Library Lounge is connected to Fairview Inn and full of southern charm! Seriously, it made me feel like I'm re-discovering Jackson. Food - The food is delicious and very filling. The restaurant has nightly specials. The special for last night was Pan seared salmon served with a creamy mushroom risotto and steamed vegetables. I went with that. A friend had the same, but subbed The risotto for Brussels sprouts. We also ordered pork chop, which came served with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The salmon and butter sauce was delicious! Of everything, the risotto stole the show. The texture, flavor, and creaminess were perfect. The Brussels were great as well. The pork chop was huge and juicy. The only thing we really didn't like were the steamed vegetables. Drinks: We had the Pinehurst, Witch Please, and the Eudora Welty (sub the vodka for gin). All great! The Pinehurst is on the sweet side. Witch Please is one of their Fall specialty drinks. It comes out purple, but it's basically Presecco. Eudora Welty, is very refreshing. Has cucumber, mint, ginger liqueur. Atmosphere: Here's what sold me. The outdoor patio is nestled under a huge magnolia tree, with string lights, and has tables as well as couches that are great for groups. They play soulful tunes in the background. Lots of oldies. The inside has a nice intimate date night vibe. Linens on tables, dim lighting, but it's laid back too (ex. TVs in the corner we're showing football). A neighborhood gem. You may need to set your GPS to find this one, but you won't find a better hamburger in Jackson than the Simon Burger (named for owner Peter Sharp's Eagle Scout son.) The Fairview is both impressive and informal. Word of warning...don't try to eat the Simon Burger by yourself. Two people can usually handle it. Prices very reasonable for the superior atmosphere and great service. Highly recommend this local gem. read more

This bar is located inside the historical Fairview Inn. The Fairview Inn is a historic southern mansion turned bed and breakfast. The Library Lounge is the first room to the left as soon as you walk in the front entrance of the hotel. The bar is small and intimate with shelves built into the wall with hundreds of books. Seating is very limited and even more limited at the small bar. There is additional seating outside under the gorgeous oak trees. The menu is pretty large for such a small place. They have a variety of beer, tap beer, wine, liquor, and specialty drinks. The prices are a little on the high side. This is a very romantic, great date spot. read more

Worst experience I have ever had at an establishment. Cocktails were terrible, food was trash my fiancé had a mystery meat burger that tasted like poodle. The server was kind but the kitchen staff was coming into the bar dining space yelling across the room at her as food was coming out. It was the most unprofessional way of serving food at a fairly pricy establishment. When my fiancé finally decided he could no longer stomach the chewy rubber with long elastic strings of meat they called a burger he kindly called the waitress over to inform her of the situation she was genuinely appalled. She took the plate to the kitchen, she didn't return but instead a second server came back WITH THE HALF EATEN BURGER. She placed the plate back in front of him and said that this what how it was supposed to be .. I must note at least they had removed the pieces of chewed up meat that had been removed from my fiancés mouth from the plate before suggesting he was wrong and should keep eating it. At this point we just were so shocked that we got the check and 90$ later we will never be going back. read more

This place is a whole vibe. It's small and cozy.. the outdoor sitting is very nice with string lights and several tables on old brick. Poor service, took over 30 minutes to get our appetizers & cocktail. This is an expensive restaurant in a beautiful antebellum home so it was very disappointing to receive such poor service. This place was such a complete shit show on Friday night that all me and my date could do was laugh at all that had gone wrong. First, we are seated at a wobbly table and wait 10 minutes for our server to come back and ask us what we want to drink. While waiting another ten minutes for her to return with a beer and a well drink, the back of my chair was being hit by the door any time anyone entered. Out of the tuna tower, the desert, and the pasta we ordered, the only thing that was savory was the pasta. The tuna tower should be removed from the menu completely. The pasta was very basic, and for $25 was a such a small portion that there was none left to take home, but at least it was tasty. After giving the waitress the credit card, she came back to inform us that their machine was down. Thankfully, we had cash on us. The waitress did her best, but management has to hire more servers. 3 waitresses isn't enough to handle a Friday night crowd. People were leaving their seats and going to the bar waiting in line to order a drink because of how long it was taking. Until management hires more servers, I highly recommend not going here on the weekend. read more

Used to love going Library Lounge At Fairview Inn. Some friends went last night and it was the worst experience everyone had at an establishment. The bartender and waitress had an attitude as soon as we walked in. My husband and two friends ordered old fashioned s and they were not made correctly and were horrible. They asked for it to be fixed and she just threw a ton of simple syrup on it. When confronted about a terrible product she got extremely rude cursed at us and said we can get the f out. She also then proceeded to overcharge us. Overall it was a terrible experience and I would not recommend going there until a new bartender and management is found. read more

This is a true hidden gem! It's quiet (well not on Fridays) and intimate. The staff is friendly and helpful. The happy hour is from 4-7, with a different deal for each day of the week (except weekends). Visited on a Thursday and had a drink and slider deal for 18$, then Friday was extended happy hour but we missed it (or just wasn't given that deal, idk and don't care-I wanted to be there). There is more seating options throughout the inn, but most people want to sit right in the center- which is packed with books and cute little ones to Mississippi writers. The drinks are amazingggg and really give you a bang for the price and size. The sliders were amazing, and it wasn't just because I was hungry! On Friday, we tried the chicken queso- now that right there.... THAT RIGHT THERE! The crowd was a mixed crowd and the bathrooms were clean (I used the men's and it was clean!) The parking was a little confusing and tight, but we made it happen and so does everyone else! Did get to visit the spa or sit outside, but the outside area is spacious and worth coming back for in better weather. The best part is....the give you a library card! Somehow this place has gone further downhill. I still come here for trivia but after last night we (my group) are seriously considering finding a new place to go for trivia. Last night the trivia host was horrible (he was accepting incorrect answers), the food was bad, and as always service was slow. Now onto to food. I got the salad. The salad came out on a saucer sized plate. For $12, I was pretty disappointed in how absolutely teensy tiny it was. My other friends got the chicken queso. It was so watered down and milky I can't believe they ate it. When you order the queso they give you about 12 chips and then charge you $1 when you ask for more. Oh and they've started enforcing a random $10 limit during trivia. This is a new rule that's only started in the last two months. My BF and I and his coworkers came here for his birthday a few weeks ago. We made a reservation for a large party and they set up a very elegant room with a long dining table. We didn't realize they changed their hours because of COVID, so we rushed to order our drinks and food. They also didn't have a large meal selection to choose from, but it was fine. Our waitress was relatively attentive and she tried her best to get everyone's order in before the kitchen closed. Everyone ordered something for themselves, so I can't say how their food was. My BF and I got two meat& cheese boards to share with our friends, half dozen raw oysters, a dessert tasting plate, and he got a burger. I don't suggest getting food here because the portions are small. Maybe it was almost the kitchen's closing time, but the food was also mediocre. My BF ordered an old fashion, and I ordered a drink with a lemony flavor (I don't remember what it was called). Both were quite diluted. I'm pretty weak at holding my alcohol, and I didn't feel anything at all with my drink. It also tastes like a lemon scented cleaning spray. Overall, the vibe is very elegant, but I think because we came in the late evening, our experience was not as great. Stunning setting in an old south hotel with beautiful oaktrees. Upper class joint but at the same time, alot of Millsaps College students like to hang out here too. You can sit outside under the oak or in the bar that looks like/is an old library. Drinks are decent. Limited appetizers. Weird hours.
