Probably my favorite go-to in Jackson for food, drink, atmosphere and just "getting out". Not a traditional tavern that I could describe only to say I have never felt unwelcome here, never been cussed at here, never been given attitude here and NEVER been shot at. My go-to meal is the Werewolf Bait sandwich or Brii burger. I would argue that their cocktail menu and expertise is second to none in town. Always a perfectly tailored beer tap selection plus bottle and can selection. In the mood to play a game or games? They will have it here. Want an obscure drink? They will make it here...and likely make one you have not heard of. Head on over and you won't be disappointed. read more

Came here because it was one of the few places open on Easter Sunday as we were driving home, and we were very impressed. First, the decor is very cool. Great Legos on display, a cool "game" vibe, and very friendly staff. The food was also really good. The chili cheese tots were excellent. The tots were crispy and the chili and cheese were delicious. My chicken sandwich on Texas toast was also very good. The pickles they put on this sandwich, along with the garlic mayo, really add great flavor, and the toast was buttered and perfectly toasted. The pizza was good and you can add extra pepperonis if you want, for $1. They have tons of board games and card games and even a few video games for people to play. They host gaming nights, apparently, which is cool. The service was also really good. They asked if we wanted water to go, and without asking, they brought a small to-go cup of lemons, since we had lemon with the water we had with our food. A very nice touch. It's an interesting place in the middle of Mississippi that is worth stopping at if you're passing through around lunch time. read more

If you are into all things nerdy, this would be a great restaurant and Tavern for you to visit. I was in town on business and looking for a place to have dinner. While doing so I stumbled across this location and decided to give it a try. I was amused by all the nerdy decor so I decided to nerd out and have dinner while watching Star Trek. My waiter explain the menu to me when I told him it was my first visit and offered good suggestions on items I should try. He informed me that they have various nights where they have board games, movies, and other activities. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and pretzel bites. The food came out in a timely manner and was well prepared at a great temperature. Although the coleslaw was bland, you can tell it was freshly made. The pulled pork was a good portion and flavorful while the pretzel bites were fluffy and salty just like you would want them. As to my old fashioned, it tasted good, but they didn't include the traditional cherry for the old fashioned. I enjoyed this experience and the next time I'm in town I will visit for sure. read more

We were driving through Jackson,MS on our way to Gulf Shores,AL. We found Dogmud when searching for a place to eat that was close to our motel. The building is very unassuming from the outside. Inside was a totally different from any other place we'd ever been. The decor was very eclectic with lots of Fantasy/sci fi elements. The crowd was playing all kinds of games. The vibe was different from the usual sports bar scene. We enjoyed watching what was going on and feeling how much fun everyone was having. Our server answered all of our questions and made some recommendations for food and drinks. Our food was delicious and the portions were generous. What a nerdy weirdly fun spot! I wish there were more places like this! We stopped in while traveling through the area. We liked the diverse menu but wasn't sure what was in store for us. the quick facts: service is great, food is great, atmosphere is great, dogs welcome. this is a MUST STOP on your next outing. we were in town on a trip and stopped here for dinner. its as much fun as it sounds. the staff is so friendly and fun. they have a large covered and screened patio where your dog is welcome to come sit alongside you. my pupper got a pupcup. she was also brought a dish of fresh water just for her! the food is awesome. wait till you see the menus. the entire place is so unique. its definitely the place to stop in if you have a bit of nerd in you. but even if you dont, you will love this place. tons of great choices to eat and lots of fun drinks too. its more than just a great restaurant, its an amazing adventure. read more

I travel all over the country for work and love to explore local gems, and this is by far my favorite find yet. I needed a bite to eat and saw a review about it being a nerdy bar, and as an avid board gamer, I was instantly intrigued. There are shelves dedicated to board games you can pull out and play- everything from Uno to Terraforming Mars (one of my personal favorites). There are a couple game tables. Mini arcade games on the bar. And the thing that won me over before I stepped foot in the place: a d20 shot. Roll the dice to determine what shot you get. The whole concept is so fun and I DEEPLY wish this existed in my town. I showed up on Jackbox game night and got to play with a handful of strangers. I'm usually pretty reserved, but this environment and the people made me feel instantly at home, and I had a great night socializing. I got bbq pork nachos, which you can sub chips for thick cut fries. They weren't mind blowing, but definitely tasty. I'd certainly become a regular if I lived nearby. read more

The menu is truly, truly unique and very fun, My favorite thing to do is roll a D20 dice for a shot, and you get what you get. The service has never been bad here and I've always been served in a timely manner, even when it is packed. The food is just your classic middle of the road bar food, burgers, pizzas, hot dogs, sandwiches, and more! I can't even write everything in this review. After going back and forth with where to eat my fiance and I ended up where I wanted to go and that's Dogmud. Online doesn't do this experience justice. The owner came out and personally spoke with us and I have to tell you outside of their amazing smoked wings he was really a joy. I give this place a 10/10 the artwork was amazing and the Nintendo at the tables was the icing on the cake. It made us really just lock in to that moment and we felt like kids. I stopped in for a late lunch on my way to Dallas, and I am so, so happy that I did! It is well worth the stop or worth coming to spend a few hours with friends! It's about 20 minutes off the interstate, but the food and the vibes are worth it! The food was SOOOO good! The Mac and cheese is elite, the Berona Sandwich was so tasty. Interesting game themed/dungeons and dragons decor restaurant. We stopped in as our daughter will be going to college in the area. We happened upon the establishment on trivia Tuesday. You can log in on your phones to play trivia games with other people via their TV. They brag about how they smoke all of their own meat and their pizza dough is made fresh daily. They also say their burgers have a nice Smokey flavor. I went for the Donkey Kong double burger. The burger is HUGE. You can hardly fit it in your mouth to take a bite. It was perfectly cooked and juicy. I enjoyed the burger, but it was a little plain I wish they had more toppings to choose from. My husband had the White Flag which boasts of their smoked brisket. While the sandwich was good, he said it was more of a pot roast sandwich and not exactly what he was expecting. The meals are served with chips and all other sides have up charges ranging from $1-$3 dollars. The servers were nice and helpful, but a little slow to come back to check on you once you receive your food. Cool little local place with a different vibe. read more

They are a little pricey, but the ambiance makes it worth the cost, from their unique menu to their decor. We have always loved Dogmud Tavern and been completely happy with them. Today even solidified my love for this place. I was not happy about a situation that occurred while trying to make a group reservation and the manager (or owner, not really sure) called me back, discussed my situation, apologized, and bent over backwards to accommodate us. What a fun place! We were passing through on our way from Dallas to Florida and saw this highly rated spot. I am here to assure you that rating is entirely justified! Walked in and loved the fun decor and games! The servers were incredibly friendly and helpful and the pizza truly hit the spot. We shared the BBQ Chicken Pizza and it was so tasty. Place is typically good but me and my for friends waiting outside for a server for 20 minutes then decided to move inside just in case they didn't see us come in. Then still went another 25 minutes still waiting to be welcomed by a server. After about an hour of sitting there watching tables that showed up after us get served before us we decided to leave. Wow! I found myself in Mississippi twice this week. I have never stopped on my way to New Orleans and have fallen in love with it. It's beautiful. When my husband suggested something called Dogmud, I was a little worried. Totally unfounded. What a magnificent place. Not only do they have hundreds of board games, there are old school nintendos loaded with games, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles stand up, and movies going. I have to say the attention to detail in decor was amazing. I just loved the inside. Ok. On to the food. Salad, solid. Chili, delicious. Club Sandwich, great. Pizza, awesome. Really really good and delightful combinations of ingredients. The service was excellent. I wish we lived closer because this would be a new regular. We were late getting to lunch and most places were already slammed with the Sunday church crowd. We decided to try this place. It's just not my kind of food/place---very bar type food. I think it's a hang out for game type people. Think pokemon meets Goth bar. If that your thing...... then come on down. The waitstaff was attentive and friendly. Maybe I chose the wrong thing. The brisket on the Whiteflag was too fatty for me. It was cut in small chunks and some where 100% fat. I think it would have been better if the meat was in big thin slices. Okay, this place is a little different. The ambiance has a somewhat odd feel, but interesting concept. A very different feel especially for this area. Glad to see the diversity growth of the area. This is such a cool bar/restaurant! Really good vibes, the staff were very friendly. My friends and I came and played a couple of the interesting games from their game shelf. They have no business having food this good! I really didn't expect much at first lol. We tried the Bayou Dragon pizza which has alligator sausage on it. I was really surprised at how good it tasted! It was sooo similar to pork it could've fooled me. And the desserts were bomb too! We tried the Shredder and the cookie sundae and we almost fought each other trying to get the last bite!
