Ok, I will start out by saying I am not reviewing the bowling ( this is why I am giving 3 stars rather than 2). We went for food and drinks because we were tired from traveling and just wanted to people watch. We ordered 2 drinks which were iced down to the point that we got the same amount as a shot and very expensive. Then we ordered the pulled pork egg rolls and fries. We were told they were out of the egg rolls so by this point we decided to just get fries. When we finally got our order the fries they were like Burger King fries only 3 times as expensive. Again, gave it 3 stars because we didn't bowl, maybe that's the ticket to a good time here. read more

I have loved Highball for years and have been coming even since before moving to JXN - Now I've lived here for a couple years and was showing out of town visitors around. We chose to go to Highball because my husband and I have always raved about how amazing it is. Words cannot express how disappointed we were with the new menu :( I LOVE Highball and I never leave bad reviews, but I really am hopeful that y'all will use this feedback. It was such basic stuff for such HIGH prices - My meal was $20 and it was 1 gas-station-style chicken on a stick with some not great fries. I ate most of the chicken, which was bland but decent, but tossed the fries. I'd say it was worth maybe $12. I really love y'all and I hope it gets better :/ read more

I usually eat at Highball Lanes after church for brunch. But I decided to venture out with some friends for bowling and dinner on a Thursday night. Our service was good. We were a party of 6 and our server handled us well. Our orders were correct and one had to send back her food and reorder but she still did a good job. Since the bowling alley is inside, it can get noisy but it wasn't bothersome. It's nice on the inside with a casual feel. Ordered the Turkey burger and subbed the fries out for grilled asparagus. This was the best tasting Turkey burger I've had. It is a hand-patted burger with an apple-onion jam. I added charred onions to mine. The asparagus came with horseradish cream and was absolutely delicious! I enjoyed our outing and look forward to going back! read more

Dropped into Fondren on Friday with one of my friends and wanted to check out a place I haven't been before. We settled to try out out Highball Lanes, the food side. (We did not bowl). We were seated immediately at a booth and our hostess ensured me that the food was actually good when I asked -- I had to make sure! Our server promptly came to us as we ordered drinks. Per her recommendation we both got the $10 cocktail with tequila (the name leaves me) but without the smoky flavor to make it more sweet. It was a good drink so I'm glad she recommended it to us! Since I was the only one eating I was in between the catfish platter or the pasta with catfish. Again she recommended getting the platter which was an excellent choice! Everything was good. The fish could've been seasoned just a tad more but I really didn't have high expectations so it wasn't terrible. Nothing a little hot sauce couldn't fix. The environment was nice also and clean. Much of praises to the server, I don't remember her name but she was really attentive and friendly. They bring you shoes to your lane! It was easy to setup a reservation, but you have to go in-person. The phone number set up to contact them sends you straight to voicemail or no one was answering. And the online booking doesn't show all the bookings for that day so just go in-person! Overall though it was a nice bowling alley with great service. read more

Terrible service. They don't adhere to their advertised hours of operation. I called about a reservation and was told they no longer do reservations. I explained that me and my party would just come in the following day and was told that would be fine. We showed up to locked doors and no one to answer a phone. I really wish establishments like this would leave my hometown, as they advantage of locals and do as they please without accountability. read more

We came to Highball Lanes for an early dinner today. We ordered the Duck Egg Rolls, Gumbo, Ribeye with fries & salad, and last but not least the prime rib with brussel sprouts & cheese grits. The Duck Egg Rolls were the best (forgot to get a pick of those) I could easily make a meal out of those! The gumbo is ok a little watery but nice back heat on a bite (don't forget to ask for a spoon unless your adventurous to try to eat it with a fork). The steaks were good, but they had to refire his Ribeye it came out Blue instead of medium rare. HOWEVER lets talk customer service or rather the lack there of...There were two apparent managers on the floor & numerous staff members as it was not that busy yet getting help was like watching the Three Stooges...forget about good help... read more

Bowling was fun and a nice environment. Service felt short handed. I think there was one server for all lanes and it took a while to get drinks/service. We ended up a couple times just walking to the bar to order, which took time away from bowling. Not one server or hostess seemed friendly. We came in and were not greeted at all. When asking how things worked, it just felt like dry conversation. I think some smiles and friendliness could go a long way to improving the overall experience of the venue. We then had dinner afterwards at a table. The food was surprisingly good. Did not have too high of expectations being at a bowling alley, but they nailed the high end approach. The food was definitely a highlight. Seems everyone enjoyed their entrees and the chips and queso was great for a shared appetizer. We will definitely go back, hopefully help situation can improve, but it's a nice environment, good food and fun. read more

I live in Jackson and want to see my cities local businesses thrive. But this is ridiculous. And I'm actively rooting for this place to close. 1. Overpriced foods that aren't that good (which tends to be a trend in jackson) 2. I've never heard of a bowling alley charge for shoes on top of the lane price. (Most bowling alleys include shoes) 3. We paid for an hour for the lane. Which most places would let you finish your game once your time is up. But they literally cut our game off halfway through. So instead of us enjoying our game and taking our time enjoying our evening. We were kicked out and couldn't even finish our game. Bring something else to Fondren that actually cares about the customers. read more

I went for the first time this Friday. Was in town to visiting. It started rough since the lane was non functional BUT quickly they stepped into great customer service and resolved. They were SUPER attentive which is a plus when an issue arises. That was the start of a great experience from their service to their food taste and ambiance. We ordered the queso and the egg rolls. I'll assume we were in the wrong for arriving at the place at the right time for our reservations. The bartender had friends in the room we rented and was beside himself when we sat and waited just outside the area we rented. He was kind enough to explain how f*****d up we were for sitting where we did to his friends. He was efficient enough to repeat it a few times. He was service minded enough to have us wait an extra 30 minutes to get into the now empty room we rented. We were allowed to order 55 minutes after we sat. The waiter had not been informed our party was split, due to the room not being able to hold the 15 of us. Another staff eventually grabbed up our others sitting by the bar. Our waiter was great, although I think he was new to the business, he really tried to be everywhere for us. The food was great. The only real issue was BallBag Barry (bearded white guy) who attempted to keep us waiting longer than we did, creating an uncomfortable situation for the staff who appeared to just want to handle normal business as usual. Douchebag Daryl may have promised his friends the room for as long as they wanted, he should have maybe not rented it out, or at the very least attempted some form of communication with the people who rented it. Or he could have set us up with a table stack, or in the other room across the way that nobody was using or the room attached to the bowling alley. But no, assbag Aaron could do nothing but lose business. Not the end if the world for them or us, just taking my business elsewhere. Did I mention the food was great? Went last night for the first time. I had heard that service was terrible but wanted to give it a try. Well, I heard right! Service was awful! We asked for recommendations on the menu & our female server had zero recommendations! She just said, I don't know! We ordered a glass of wine & saw 3 employees stick their noses to our glasses, smelling the wine! When asked, our server told us they just wanted to smell the difference in the 2 different wines! We then told her she could keep the wine cuz we were leaving! She just said, ok! Menu choices, in our opinion, we're not good! We definitely will not be back! I can't say if the food was good because we sat there for 15-20 minutes and a waiter never came before we got up and left. I am not sure if it was where we were seated, but the table in front of us their waiter came to check on them a couple times while we waited. Then there was a group of 5-6 that sat two table ahead of us and a waiter was there immediately before. We went for the bowling with the kids during Spring Break and we weren't the only people with this idea. Luckily you can reserve lanes online same as you can reserve dinner tables--very convenient. The bowling setup was very modern, you can tell the computer which players need the bumper guard rails and it'll raise and lower the bumpers for the correct bowler. Only small complaint was that it was a bit cramped for our party of five using one lane. We didn't eat any food, but saw some come out and it looked better and more interesting than typical bowling alley fare. We were talking over dinner about who we'd come back with next time. read more
