Until Shaggys cleans this place I would not recommend consuming food here. The bathrooms are utterly disgusting, if you have asthma do not go in to the men's bathroom. It is filthy. All of the AC vents look like they're growing hair on them from having so much dust and dirt on and around them. The floors are super slippery and it's just dirty and dusty in there. If the visible presence looks like this, I can just imagine what the kitchen looks like!! This is a hard pass for me. I'm confused why this spot doesn't have 5 stars! Obviously people don't know delicious food! Okay y'all... we drove 3 1/2 hours with a party of six just to check this place out, and let me tell you -- SO worth the trip! From the moment we walked up, the vibe was pure vacation mode: bright umbrellas, good music, and that gorgeous waterfront view that makes you wanna stay all day. Appetizers: We went all in -- charbroiled oysters, raw oysters, gator bites, fried green tomatoes, spinach dip, and a side salad (not pictured because it didn't last long ). Every single bite was on point! The charbroiled oysters? Buttery, smoky perfection. Gator bites? Crispy outside, tender inside, and seasoned just right. Not a single miss here! Entrées: We covered the menu like pros -- fried platter, blackened platter, blackened alligator tacos, redfish, bang bang shrimp tacos, and a side of hushpuppies (because who skips hushpuppies?). EVERYTHING came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The bang bang shrimp tacos had that sweet heat you crave, and the blackened alligator tacos? Hands-down one of my faves of the night. Service + Atmosphere: The staff was friendly, professional, and fast, which made the whole experience even better. The timing was perfect -- no long waits, just smooth service and chill energy all around. And let's talk about that view! Sitting by the water watching the boats roll in while the sun set? 10/10 ambiance. Came here after work to unwind and sit with a view, I couldn't be more than satisfied with how the service and the food. I took my chance on a Po Boy, the bread was soft and shrimp (fried) was plump. This place is a tiki hut on the spillway for the overflow waters of the Pearl River. This area is so cool! The marshland is all around here down to the Gulf. Shaggy's is literally a tiki hut bar &'grill on the water, with a huge square bar center outside deck side, surrounded by chairs, then bar top tables around the bar seating. Then the parking lot which goes all the way back to the spillway water's edge where there are some docks with piers going out into the spillway. I am pretty sure boats can pull up, tie up and enjoy the live music and food! They have a live musician every evening for those perfect golden hours cocktails and happy hour from 2-5p. Margarita hit the spot! Shaggy's original location in the "Pass" by Pass Christian Pearl River. It was originally a bait shop but was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Rebuilt as Shaggy's tiki bar & grill. I feel like I'm in the Florida Keys, Islamorada area! The sunsets are gorgeous, y'all! read more

Got on the waitlist online before arriving, which helped a lot. We were sat at a table and immediately our drink order was taken. After 20 minutes, I got my margarita (I asked for frozen, but it was on the rocks), and then about 10 minutes later we finally got our regular drinks and got our order taken. We waited over 30 min for our appetizer and over an hour for our entrees. With the prices and our high expectations, we were very let down. read more

The food was good, we loved the atmosphere! The service was great. All the employees seemed to work together very well and were super friendly. We ordered several mixed drinks (Miami Vice, Biloxi Blue, & Rum Punch). They were all great. They even offered half-off select mixed drinks while we were waiting on our table. To eat, we got fried green tomatoes with crawfish, fried pickles and the blackened gator tacos. The food was all really good. We were in Jackson visiting Millsaps college with our daughter and had Saturday night to ourselves since she stayed on campus with some of the girls there. We wanted a nice place to sit outside and enjoy the pretty sunset and cool air. Well we found the perfect place. Shaggy's did not fail as we sat outside by the water and saw one of the prettiest sunsets. The music was perfect with a single man band playing feel good music while we had the games on in the background. The food was tasty and the service was great! Our server took time and spoke with us making the whole experience even better I would've never thought a place like this existed in the middle of Mississippi so glad my wife found it. Recently moved here. But have been coming here for the last four years prior to actually moving here. Now that I have, this is the go to when the weather is nice. Love the Outside Tiki bar! And those that work in it. Tony a Manager here always makes a point to check on our experience and his team he manages is unbelievable in every way! Solo traveler, so I sat at the bar. Inviting and warm environment, I am sure this place is fantastic in the summer. Since I am working I drank water so no review on the drinks or prices of drinks. The bartender was very kind and attentive. I ordered the She Crab Soup in a cup, which may be 1/2 a cup in reality. Then I ordered the New Orleans Shrimp Po'Boy. The fries were cold and the shrimp were not deveined. I am aware the vein is edible however the visual is not very appealing. The fries were cold as was the sandwich. The bun got a little soggy from all the pineapple salsa. The burger was a 4. The crispy fries were a 5. The view was great. It's on a large reservoir. They have indoor and outdoor seating. This place has CHANGED and definitely not for the better. The menu is very skimpy now and leaves NO room for those who don't/can't eat fish. There's roughly 2 chicken dishes to choose from now. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad and my husband ordered the redfish from the chef's specialty menu. The salad was the size of a side salad at $16 and the redfish was smaller than that. It came with potatoes and sautéed vegetables that were not cooked at all and came out cold. The fish was underdone as well. For $35, I would have expected a lot more fish and sides that were cooked all the way through and hot. The only redeeming quality was the free dessert we got for ordering the mess of a redfish dish. We got one of the cheesecakes and were thoroughly satisfied with that and that alone. The service wasn't terrible but the server was up our butt clear up to the point that we received our food. Then she was nowhere to be found and we ended up with 3 different people coming to check on us sporadically. Overall just a really bad experience for what used to be our favorite place. read more
