Although it's tucked into a strip mall, Brent's Drugs is the real deal and far from ordinary. Originally opened as a pharmacy in 1946 in the Fondren neighborhood, it still operates in its original location today and beautifully preserves the nostalgia of classic soda fountains and old-school diners. With vintage stools, cozy booths, and music from the 1940s and 1950s playing in the background, it truly feels like stepping back in time. You can order burgers, fries, custom sodas, and milkshakes, but honestly the milkshakes alone are worth the visit. We went specifically for shakes and ended up adding a basket of fries, which we absolutely demolished. The service was excellent -- our milkshake and fries arrived within just a few minutes of ordering. The fries were seasoned really well, though I'm pretty sure the secret is a slightly sweet sugar blend mixed into the seasoning. Either way, they were addictive. The milkshake we tried was the Ginger Finger -- a vanilla shake blended with Butterfinger candy and a hint of ginger that gives it a subtle bite. It was unique and delicious. There's plenty of seating for everyone, whether you're dining solo, as a couple, or with a large group. The walls are lined with interesting photos that add to the charm, and parking is plentiful. Overall, it's just a neat, memorable experience that blends good food with a slice of history. A solid stop if you're in the area.
Brent's Drugs has that old diner feeling that was featured in the movie "The Help. I remember when they were filming here and how the place was packed afterwards. It's a hidden gem in our area. We had 5 in our party Mary was our server. She was very attentive to us without being overbearing. Our food came out quickly after we ordered. 4 in the party ordered the Brent Burger with housecut fries and I ordered the patty melt with onion rings. My burger patty was juicy but lacked a lot of flavor. The Texas toast was grilled to perfection with crispy edges. My onion rings were good. I was a little miffed that I only got four but they were filling and tasted really good.
We ate across the street but wondered to see all the memorabilia in the 50s diner. We walked past the soda jerk and all the old boots and photographs. Past old prescription bottles we open the door to speak easy. The lights were dim and the prescriptions were fancy drinks. Very cool. We came back for lunch. I had a Cobb salad, it was tasty but the lettuce was limited. My husband enjoyed his fried chicken sandwich with onion rings . It was tough to resist the pecan pie shake - oh my God!
The food was great and the restaurant was the most adorable little diner!!! Perfect place for my 4-year-old. He loved the toys up front that were there to play with while we waited for our food.
Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, amazing staff who were able to help me w choose the best food option. I've been to the apothecary in the back in the past but this is my first time actually experiencing the restaurant and food. It was amazing!!!

I happened to be in the area and getting hungry, this was in the "Passport to Jackson", so I gave it a chance. Very cute, well-maintained diner that has the old school ice cream, milkshakes and malts. I got the Brents Burger with fries. Both were quite good. Service was fast and friendly, prices were reasonable. I loved the displays near the restrooms of pictures, pharmacy equipment. The restrooms were also very clean and cute. I look forward to coming back when I am in the area again.
The concept is adorable. The history throughout and the old pharmacy memorabilia is worth a visit here alone. I love all of it. There is so much cool stuff just laying around everywhere. We've been here twice now. First time it was pretty good from my memory. It's been a rough year.... This time it was pretty bad. My wife actually sent her food back and told them to keep it. She tried to eat it but got angrier each bite. My chicken biscuit was old gas station food quality. The chicken was overcooked and cold. The biscuit was cut 80/20 top/bottom, so you could not pick it up as the bottom disintegrated. Honey Hot Sauce was in a cup onside and was also room temp. This could be a good item if someone here gave a damn about food being done well. Kiddos French toast was, well... cold. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Fried potatoes were the star!!! Good little nugs of potato goodness. Nice spice Here is the kick in the gut.... It's one thing for the food to take forever, which ours did, but if it does, it better be fresh, damn it. Remake it if you have to. All of our food, with exception to the fried potatoes, was room temp or worse. A table of five sat behind us 10 minutes after we arrived, and were eating 5 minutes before us. Our food obviously was just sitting there for a while. You could hear the kitchen calling for runners for a long time while we waited. Ebony was obviously busy, but that isn't our fault now is it. I hate leaving negative reviews, but since the manager that came and asked my wife if she wanted her food replaced never even looked at any of the rest of us, much less ask how it was, here we are. Mistakes happen, how you recover is where it's at. Should have eaten at Waffle House again... '24 - 89/101
Loved everything about this place. The nostalgia is fun. Burgers, onion rings, sauce and milkshakes all 5 stars. Service was excellent as well. Would return.

Brent's Drugs was one of the sites that I really wanted to see when visiting Jackson. As expected, the food was basic diner cuisine at diner quality. I was disappointed when the orange juice was Tropicana in a bottle. The interior was so quintessential mid century that it made the experience; I felt like I was in a movie. The wait staff was sweet.
What a cool establishment!!!! Our breakfast was like having your grandmother's home cooking. Our waiter was great. I'm glad we saved room for the delicious strawberry shake from the Soda Fountain.

The food was so good! They have the best, crispiest fries I've ever had and the shakes were so so so smooth and tasty! The colors of the booths and all the vintage medicines they have on display really helped to transport us back to 40s/50s. This restaurant is really unique. read more

the fries are atrocious, i'm sorry--over seasoned and just not good overall. i added cheese onto them for extra cost and all they did was sprinkle a TINY amount of shredded cheddar onto it and microwaved it in my face i told the waitress i didn't like the fries and she didn't say anything lol so i legit paid to eat 4 fries and asked her to take them back waste of money the chili is AMAZING though!!! i wish i had ordered a big one instead of small, but even the small filled me up the hot fudge sundae was decent. not too sweet but still tasty my mom got hamburger steak with onion rings, and them rings are HUGE. she liked them the decor was nice to look at. nice bathrooms too. read more

I have to come to #jacksonmississippi once a year and I hate it because the food here is garbage!!! And @brentsdrugs takes the cake for worst place I've ever been and not just in Jackson. This is the fourth year we've tried a new place and the fourth time it was a terrible experience. This food was worse than fast food. I mean, how can you fuck up a burger?? This is my PSA to never go here. Their instagram definitely did not meet reality. This is the first time I've ever left a restaurant hungry. As you can see we both took one bite of our food before we left. If I could give this place less than one star I would. Don't waste your money like I did. read more

On my day off of work when I could finally sit down and eat breakfast somewhere, I decided I think I am going to try Brent's for the first time. Great breakfast that I enjoyed and the atmosphere is nostalgic and historical to look at along with the restaurant being featured in movies, such as "The Help". The waitress was very helpful with the menu after I told her it was my first time. The waitress was also friendly and checked on me regularly. The waitress also noticed I was a healthcare worker and told me about their healthcare/military discount, which makes me feel appreciated for the work we do for our patients when scraping by with our wages. The breakfast melt and side of pancake was fluffy and full of flavor! I was satisfied and it was very filling! I look forward to coming back when I am off work. Thank you Brent's for supporting healthcare workers and the military! read more

I honestly hate the leave a negative review...but I'm going to be honest. This is a VERY cool place and I would go back. It looks like an old diner from a movie. The waitstaff was spectacular and attentive. The food was just mediocre but the pricing was fair. The chicken biscuit needs tweaking. The iced coffee was fantastic. The pancake was the best thing I tried. I think there was some cornmeal...it's not the "traditional" buttermilk pancake. The real reason for 3 stars was the cleanliness. We did visit on a Friday morning so I was willing to let it pass in hopes that it was just a busy morning. But there was food fried on the walls next to our booth. It would be a great idea for the owners to bring in a crew for a deep clean. read more

We had grilled chicken sandwiches, onion rings. Grilled to perfection. We had our grandson with us and he enjoyed a fruit bowl of melon, pineapple, grapes and oranges! Perfect booths and provided us with a high chair. We had a a great time and fun for our grandsons first visit! The iconic booths and soda fountain were cool. Next visit we will be having milkshakes! They looked yummy! read more
My man and I decided to try different spot for Sunday breakfast/brunch! Today we tried Brent drugs and we Were not disappointed. I order the breakfast tacos and a cup of cheese grits! I love them both. Our waiter Roberto was attentive and awesome! We will be back. read more

The only reason that I gave 4 stars was because the bathrooms weren't as clean as I feel they should be. But the service was great, the food was fantastic and the milkshake was 10/10!! read more
