I normally don't have anything but great things to say about this place, however I suppose there's always off days. It's not terrible just a few things I wasn't aware with carry out orders and an issue with my mahi. First, whenever I got home with my food I didn't realize I would have to assemble my mahi tacos and gyro nachos before eating them. That was a little annoying and honestly a bit complicated for the nachos. Now, when I tried to break up the mahi to put it on the taco I noticed it was really spongey and didn't want to flake apart like fish normally will once cooked. When I looked closer I noticed it was still quite a bit raw and had to finish cooking it before I could put my tacos together. However, once I finished cooking and assembling everything, which defeated the purpose of take out, the meal was great as usual. During a recent business trip, a business colleague and I found ourselves famished for lunch. After a quick check on Yelp to identify restaurants nearby, we settled on Georgia Blue. It turned out to be an outstanding decision. My colleague doesn't eat beef, pork, or dairy yet was able to identify multiple options of interest. She ended up choosing the boneless chicken, fried green tomato, and chicken tacos which she loved. I ordered the turnip green bites and fried catfish with fries. I loved everything but the turnip green bites were absolutely to die for! No seriously, YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS DISH! It's simply exquisite. Family came down here while on a trip to Natchez. We heard it had some pretty good reviews, so we came to check it out. The pot roast sandwich was MASSIVE, really good portion for 15. The fries that came with it were incredibly good as well. Very hot and fresh! The kids pizza was DROWNING in cheese, and came in a frisbee plate!! Very fun and tasty. The fried green tomato BLT has a sweet bacon on it. Very good! Now here's where I have my problem. Our table was INCREDIBLY low. I promise the table was below our belly buttons. The water was basic tap water. And now... My food. I got the mahi mahi tacos, that came with a "dynamite" sauce, pico, and chips and queso. The queso had a very odd aftertaste that ruined even eating it. Not good at all. The tacos themselves were not very good either. The fish was rather dry, although well seasoned. The "dynamite" sauce was sweet upon impact, then only got a little spicy. And when I'm promised spicy, I want spicy. The pico came with corn, always good to specify as someone who doesn't like/doesn't eat corn. I wish I could have gotten a refund, as I paid 20 dollars for only eating one taco and a few chips. Had to give a one star because of the hostess attitude. I live in Phoenix Az and love to visit here when I come into town. Went in this afternoon at 6 to put a table in for 9 of us. Immediately the hostess got short and rude. She informed us that she could sit us at different parts of the restaurant but not together. That would defeat the purpose of eating together with family. We didn't even mind waiting but she wouldn't budge. There were 3 hostess standing there and they all 3 rolled their eyes and acted like we were a nuisance. This post is long overdue. Hubby and I were looking for a nice place to dine for New Years Eve (2022). It was so late already and after we were refused service from some other restaurant for not dressing fancy, we came here and they were pretty much closing already but I think they felt bad for us and went back in the kitchen and prepared for us the best meal. We were not rushed and I wanted to capture the last moments of the year so I took a quick video and the staff saw me and didn't even hesitate to get in on it. It's a memory I will forever cherish. Turnip Green Fritters: Great idea that sparks interest but wayyyy too much cheese. The taste and texture of the greens gets lost in the cheese. Boudin Balls: Very filling and good flavors. I've heard about the turnip green bites appetizers at Georgia Blue and decided that I should try them. But, dining alone, I wasn't keen on spending $9.49 for an appetizer for one. Georgia Blue is located in a nice shopping center off of Lakeland Dr in Flowood. There is no entrance directly from Lakeland Dr, so you must turn in and navigate the terror of the larger parking/driving area of the shopping center to get to it. Parking can get limited on a busy night and there are fences to prevent parking at neighboring business to get to this restaurant. The building is nice. The interior is reminiscent of Delta Blues decor that would not necessarily remind me of Georgia, though it is tastefully done and I liked it. The dinnerware even matched the theme, which is rare these days. Like I said, the appetizers were a bit pricey, so I opted for an order of red beans and rice. That was the right decision. This bowl of deliciousness had the right amount of beans, rice and plenty of sausage. In addition to the sausage slices mixed in, there was a link of the local Country Pleasin' brand sausage that was grilled to perfection and placed on top. Just really delicious. I ordered the Atlantic salmon and a side salad. As salads go, it was nice. A crisp spring mix with shredded cheese, bacon bits and grape tomatoes along with a side of blue cheese dressing that was pretty flavorful. The salmon was perfectly grilled with some kind of sauce that looked sketchy but was quite flavorful. If the veggies had not been cold this would have made the review 5 stars. The service was good. The food was great. But the price was a bit much for one person at more than $30; and I had no alcohol. I also didn't get the expensive items, which would have pushed the bill around $40. So is it worth it? Yeah. If you like flavor this is the place to come if you are willing to spend a little more than usual. Don't forget to grab an order of the red bean either. Fries were cold and when informing the waitress, she brings a plate and ask for the cold fries to be removed from the basket (Maybe to warm them up in the microwave). Seemed kind of strange! It consisted of a fried chicken breast smothered in white gravy with mashed potatoes, fried okra and peach cobbler for an extra $2 please. OMG!!! All of the food was delicious, but that cobbler. Lord have mercy on my stomach. It was the best!!!!! 2. Shrimp pasta - My brother ordered this dish, but due to his hangover he couldn't eat and had to take his home. However, it looked pretty yummy and the waitress was nice enough to add extra sauce in his to go box. If you're ever in the area, stop by with your family and give this restaurant a try. The waitress failed to refill our drinks, she didn't put one person's food order in and when asked for refills, she complained to the hostess that we just kept on asking for things. Yes woman! The pulled pork was very tasty with just the right amount of BBQ sauce. The cheese was different in a good way, not quite cheddar not quite American. A good portion of sour cream. Experience was amazing. We had about a 25 minute wait which was great. I definitely did not mind waiting. The person working at the front checked on us about every 5 minutes. After being seated, one of the waiters noticed that we had not been served so he came over to get our drink orders. He informed us that he was not our waiter, but they were busy so he was helping out. Love the teamwork of the staff! We never had empty cups and our appetizers were served expeditiously and HOT. The waiter saw me looking for an outlet, so found one for me & watched my iPad while it charged. He brought me a to-go cup w/o asking, which I totally needed. *Ambiance: This is a casual spot. Good for families or dates. They have 2 rooms in the back in you wanted to host a large group. Rustic decor. I sat at a high-top in the bar area & the noise level was pretty low. *Prices: Fair. Most lunch entrees were $10 range. My salmon was one of the more pricier options at lunch at $15 I think. Plenty of parking out front. The wait isn't long at lunch. My wife and 3 small children took my mother for her 70th birthday to dinner at GB, what a disappointment. Summary: they have zero birthday celebration or complimentary birthday anything. They had very poor service. Food was mediocre. Bar was slow and subpar. Manager, terrible. We had 3 small children(under 5) and despite poor service and unsatisfactory overall experience we were charged 18% gratuity. I can understand a party of 6 adults, but 3 adults and 3 little kids who shared a kids meal? Plus, the quality of service did not justify 18%. Drinks took forever(20-30min each to receive) and I never even received my $4 add-on side salad I was charged for. With the check I pointed that out and instead of removing the charge, she returned with my salad in a togo box at 9pm at night... is that for a late night salad snack? What was she thinking? I asked to speak to the manager and he was as disappointing as the rest of the evening. He appeared disgruntled he had to interact with customers, showed no concern we were unhappy, and refused to adjust the 18% automatic gratuity. We will never eat at Georgia Blue again and I will use every opportunity to share my poor experience with anyone who mentions the name. I must admit, my experience in Madison, Ms was much more pleasurable than my experience in Flowood, Ms. For comparison: Madison-Bigger portions, food was hot, live music was better, servers more professional, the food overall tasted better.
