Side salads

Good food, great location, reasonable prices. Roosters has a lot of good options whether you're in the mood for a burger, a salad, or some good down home cooking. They have good portions so you'll get your money's worth. I enjoyed the red beans and rice. I liked the touch of jalapeños. The roll was so super soft. House salad was good too. Good service. Parking along the side of the building, the garage, or the lot across the street,

This was the best fried chicken I've ever had!!! Full of flavor!!! This has definitely unlocked a core food memory for me!!! And yes, the creole tomato gravy is awesome and so are the cheese grits!!!

Fried chicken sandwich and curly fries

First time in- the cashier who took our order helped us with the menu. "We have no freezer or microwave. Everything is fresh- our bread was baked this morning, our burgers were patted out--" Having read the Yelp reviews, I ordered the chicken tenders with red beans & rice, and onion rings, with a dinner roll. Seriously, when it arrived, it could've been lunch for two! Three large chicken 'tenders' (I would call them breast cutlets), hot and crisp. A bit salty for me, but no matter- tender and juicy. They must marinate and tenderize them. I don't usually prefer white meat as it's often dry. Not the case here! Onion rings were good, Thin, battered, rings. The red beans and rice... meh... ok, but lacking something, perhaps the smokiness of sausage or ham? But maybe they are keeping it vegetarian (I didn't ask.) I liked that the jalapeno slices were right on top so I could easily remove them. My companion had the fried chicken sandwich with curly fries. Enjoyed every bite. Fries were piping hot. The bread was yummy like a fluffy cloud! I had overlooked the Mushroom Swiss Burger on the menu, so I'll have to return to try that. The dining room was spacious and clean, with an open air porch-room on the perimeter. There was plenty of staff, serving and bussing as well as in the kitchen, and they seemed to like working there and being together (unlike some places where the employees look like they'd rather be anywhere else!) Prices were reasonable for the large portions.

Roosters is always the best around Jackson. Fast service, easy seating, and delicious food. Sit by the windows the people watch fondren. We ordered the burger and fried chicken salad. Something about this fried chicken is just special. It's so soft and flavorful. And it's huge. Covers almost the whole salad, southern style. The sweet tea was great as well. Love roosters!

Great food. Reasonable prices and the food was excellent. You are likely going go have a take home box because of the large portion size.

3 piece Chicken Tenders with onion rings

I never order chicken tenders from anywhere, but I will here. I've never had such gigantic tenders. They were juicy, crispy, and hot (temp). Something I'll crave for sure. You get two sides with the 3 piece meal and it's a steal. Basically 2 meals for me. The onion rings were perfectly crunchy while the coleslaw was a little tangy which cut the richness of the mac and cheese. Fries were good, but I recommend the other 3 sides more. Service was fast and staff was kind. I could eat tenders like these everyday!

Summer, the waitress/bartender was so attentive but more importantly very skilled at making an exceptional old fashion. Every sip was a reminder of southern comfort. Warm like grandma and stern like grandpa. (The block ice is optional so request as needed). The oysters were the star of the show. My first bite tasted like a pleasant memory of New Orleans. Consider this a buttery Bayou banger. Don't be shy, squeeze that lemon and dip that bread and leave nothing behind. The south west chicken salad is not to be slept on! I had a pretty big lunch so I wanted something light, but still packed a flavor punch. Boy was I knocked off my feet! The heirloom tomatoes, fresh avocado and homemade chipotle ranch took me from Louisiana to Mexico quicker than any plane could. I could not wait to share what was shared with me! I took my walk back down the street feeling gleeful and ready to brag. I received this recommendation from a local Mississippian and I couldn't be more happy with my decision. In fact, initially I felt bad about hitching a ride with my colleagues and later ditching them (they went to another spot up the street) until I was given every reason to be proud of stepping foot in The Manship.

After a successful purchase and a hemorrhaging from my credit card, we opted to celebrate the occasion with a meal. And Lo and behold Table 100 was just across the street from where we were. Ambiance 4 Stars - as you walk into the establishment, you are transported back where the warm wood interior, cozy white table cloth tables or booths, high end bar drinks, and classy servers in their white or black attire are waiting to serve you. There plenty of tables and booths to seat a plentiful of patrons. And if you need a little bit more private, you can request a private room depending how many are in the party. 4.5 Stars - Service: our server, Andrew was wonderful, professional and has a great sense of humor. We bantered throughout our dinner but the conversation never crossed over to make anyone uncomfortable. He was observant of our needs and when to bring our next course. Our glasses stayed full with our beverage. 4.25 Stars - Food We ordered from the dinner menu instead of lunch due to our timing at 3:00. Let's just call it "Linner". Haha. 4 Stars - Grilled Swordfish- My wife ordered the dish and came with a decent size grilled swordfish fish, sauté spinach, creamed mash potatoes, and a beurre blanc sauce (lemon, butter and dry white wine). The swordfish was thick and moist; not dry at all. The beurre blanc balanced the bland spinach and the seasoned swordfish. The creamed potatoes were creamy, buttery's and not too salty. 3.75 Stars - Pan seared Redfish with cube fried potatoes, sauté green beans, beurre blanc sauce and top w a Chilean tomato salsa. The redfish was moist and tasty but I wish it had a little bit seared on it for a crunchy factor. The cubed potatoes were good but nothing to write about. The fresh sauté green beans could have a bit more garlic butter. 3.5 Stars Side dish: Deep Fried Brussel Sprouts. Hot, steamy and fresh. Has a slight crunch on the exterior leaves and was seasoned w a sprinkle of salt. 3.75 Dessert: Crème Brûlée and coffee. The crème brûlée crust was crunchy and the vanilla egg custard was good and smooth. It would have been better was a scoop of fresh whipped cream to go with the fresh fruit and crunchy layer. 5 Stars - French pressed Italian coffee. The coffee was a highlight of the dessert. It was hot, fresh, and strong. Just like an Italian coffee should be. It was between an espresso and caffe' Americano. Our, server, Andrew did a wonderful job on the coffee! I definitely recommend this place and we will be back. Don't forget to ask for Andrew, if he is available.

Our waiter was extremely polite and very attentive. I can only speak in the items I personally tried the watermelon jalapeño margarita was a 7.5/10. There wasn't a strong watermelon flavor and there really wasn't a kick from the jalapeño. The bartender wasn't definitely not shy with the liquor but it wasn't over powering. The shrimp and crab ceviche was probably a 8/10 ( could've been a 9/10 but it had cucumbers in it). It had a tad bit too much lime juice or lime taste. The shrimp and crab dip was delicious! 9/10. Fresh chips as well. I really enjoyed the pickled red onion addition was really good. Overall Saltine has a great menu selection, warm and welcoming vibe.

Lovely looking place…read more The service was good. Pretty much right there when you needed them with decent recommendations. For appetizers, I loved the lobster and spring roll. That was delicious. Also got the lobster and crawfish dip ok and one can never go wrong with calamari which was also good. For dinner, I had the salmon and grits and kale. It was ok because not quite what I was expecting - I was expecting spicy and it was too sweet for me but might be my fault for not fully reading the description and being focused on the Cajun seared aspect of it. It was still good though. Nothing superb but filling and loved the crunchy kale on top. Really liked that they were open on a Monday and they were fast. At one point, too fast because one of my co- diner's dinner came too soon while still eating their salad. For dessert, we got the cinnamon roll cheesecake and shared it. I only had one bite because it was too rich for me but it was very tasty and good. Unfortunately, we didn't get the oysters which is THE item to get here but it was otherwise a good visit.
