I got it to go since my office is only 5-6 minutes away. Country fried steak was fantastic. Covered in milk gravy. I got the mashed potatoes and a side salad to go with it., Salad and taters were OK, bout it. Potatoes are just add water. Not real potatoes. They don't do much to them. They add water and stir the instant potatoes. They could very easily make them better by adding a little milk/butter and cutting back on the water. I don't think they added any salt to them. I decided to give an extra star after going back and trying the Stupid Burger, Tomato Gravy cutlet, and... fries. This time they suggested I try the garlic butter fries and omg. I was addicted. I can't give five stars because these were definitely not the same fries we were given the first time we went. We arrived around lunch time and it was a little busy. We ended up waiting about 40 minutes for our food to arrive. I had the chicken tenders and fries and my sister had the fried chicken sandwich. We ended up having to request a to go box with our food because we had to get back to work. The server was super nice but immediately forgot that we needed the to go box and so we had to go and get it ourselves. On a brighter note the chicken strips were delicious. They were seasoned and fried to perfection. The ranch and honey mustard dipping sauces were delicious as well. The curly fries were not good. They lacked seasoning and were cold. I felt like they should of been hot because of how long we waited. My sister's chicken sandwich was okay. They chicken cutlet was not as seasoned as my chicken strips and because of the size of the strips, I gave her one of my strips and she put it on her sandwich. She says it was so delicious. All and all I would go back if I had nothing to do and time to wait because the prices were reasonable. read more

Never thought of having all of some pickles and olives on my salad but it made a difference. And my family ordered the curly fries instead of the butter fries. From the start, Rooster's was excellent. The service was top 10 from Ms. Pam and the other friendly staff. I had a fried chicken salad that was outstanding. I couldn't finish it all, but I enjoyed every bit that I could eat. My son enjoyed his macaroni and cheese and even had the leftovers the next day. Came to Jackson for the day and had heard that Roosters was worth a try. BOY WAS IT EVER. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich tossed in Nashville hot seasoning on a Jalapeño cheddar bun with a side of curly fries. It was one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had in my entire life. The bun was so fluffy and soft, the chicken was crisp, crunchy, and spicy, the French fries were fried to a golden perfection. While staying at the hotel across the street, these guys are one of the last restaurants open on New Years Eve for takeout. After a long drive (avoiding airports during Covid) the Hot Hot Chicken sandwich and grilled chicken salad were perfect. Both were fresh and delicious. Pretty good lunch spot. Seating is limited due to COVID. Good food at slightly elevated prices. I usually get the country fried steak. The sides I have gotten, mashed potatoes, onion rings and Mac and cheese, all good. If you use plastic to pay, there is 4% added that goes to the credit card processor. They do inform you with a sign at the counter. Some processors are using this type payment. Instead of the business eating the processing fee, it is passed on to the customer. After weighing out my options, I went with the fried chicken sandwich and a side of curly fries with a fountain drink. It was right around $10 total. I left STUFFED - couldn't finish the huge order of fries. The chicken sandwich was great - and massive. It was a nice size piece of chicken breast, fried to perfection. The bun was the jalapeno bun, but it doesn't really have a kick to it at all. It's a cool vibe in there, super casual, and the menu has what you'd expect - some good comfort food. Best burger in Jackson tour had me at Roosters this week. Super tasty burger. Well seasoned meat cooked Medium as ordered. Buns are great. I am ordering Bacon Cheese burgers with Jalapenos to make the "review" more even. The cheese was thick and melted into the patty like I like. The bacon was weak. Undercooked and paper thin. Jalapenos were on the side. Hmmm. The burger was great though. Not my favorite but will likely make the top 10. read more
