My family came with me on my move from TX to MS and as our first meal out, we decided on Georgia Blue. I am so glad we did! With the pandemic still happening, they've taken fantastic measures to ensure a safe dining experience. Their food was icing on the cake of super service. My favorite dishes were the bayou bites (that comeback sauce!) and the shrimp & grits. All of the seafood was cooked to perfection. The seafood linguine was good but nothing super special. My sister got the mahi sandwich and loved it. My dad got the pulled pork sliders and said it was tasty. The side portion of onion strings was generous and added a nice touch to the sandwiches. Prices were fair especially with the quality of food. Their $3 mimosas are a steal but I wish they could sell larger carafes of mimosas as my sisters and I can go through quite a bit ;D All in all, a great place. Highly recommend! read more

My wife and 3 small children took my mother for her 70th birthday to dinner at GB, what a disappointment. Summary: they have zero birthday celebration or complimentary birthday anything. They had very poor service. Food was mediocre. Bar was slow and subpar. Manager, terrible. We had 3 small children(under 5) and despite poor service and unsatisfactory overall experience we were charged 18% gratuity. I can understand a party of 6 adults, but 3 adults and 3 little kids who shared a kids meal? Plus, the quality of service did not justify 18%. Drinks took forever(20-30min each to receive) and I never even received my $4 add-on side salad I was charged for. With the check I pointed that out and instead of removing the charge, she returned with my salad in a togo box at 9pm at night... is that for a late night salad snack? What was she thinking? I asked to speak to the manager and he was as disappointing as the rest of the evening. He appeared disgruntled he had to interact with customers, showed no concern we were unhappy, and refused to adjust the 18% automatic gratuity. We will never eat at Georgia Blue again and I will use every opportunity to share my poor experience with anyone who mentions the name. I liked the fact that we were able to come right in and sit in the bar area. However, it took our server a long time to get to us. We ordered water and a drink from the bar. She brought the water and then it was another 10 minutes before she gave me the bar drink even though we were sitting in the bar area. I was in town for the weekend and visited Georgia Blue. They describe themselves as a unique combination of sophisticated food and a laid back style. Their food is definitely sophisticated and VERY GOOD!!! I thoroughly enjoyed everything I tasted. I started off with the fried green tomatoes - some of the best I've ever had. Then I sampled some of my friend's turnip green bites. Very unique combo of turnip greens, bacon, and lots of cheese, rolled into balls and fried. AMAZING! My main entree was the shrimp and grits. I'm a shrimp and grits fanatic and have enjoyed many restaurant's dishes. This is one of the top three. I really appreciated their ratio of shrimp to bacon. Lots of bacon throughout. It was also nice and creamy. But the kicker is that it's served atop roasted corn & cheese grits. Yummy!!! In terms of atmosphere, it was an energetic crowd. There was live music as well. Food is pretty alright. If you go during the summer, bring a parka, scarf, beanie, and gloves because it is arctic.

One of my co-workers recommended I try the BLT and it was a great suggestion. The bacon is fully encrusted in a sweet layer of Pralines which give this sandwich a unique flavor. The addition of the fried green tomato gives it some southern flair. The atmosphere is fun and you will find old license plates used in unique ways, my favorite being the repurposing of them to make baskets to bring the food in. So me and my friend from out of town decided to come here yesterday. We asked if we wanted a table on the patio and said yes . A hostess wiped it off,came back and told us our table was ready and we could head out to the patio. After the hostess told us this , a couple immediately booked it right in front of us as we walked out out there. They quickly sat down at the only open table 3 seconds before we did. We had a feeling this couple just stole our table but didn't want presume anything. We quickly went back to the front and told the lady there no were tables outside that were open and she quickly let us know that couple must of took it from us and that she would fix it . We stood awkwardly in the doorway( for 10 min) as the hostess and three other people tried to go out there and tell the couple they couldn't steal the table. However the server working out there was not willing to move the table stealers ( which turned out to be her friends) . She instead insisted they move us to a rickety table in back and proceeded to serve her friends drinks and apps before even greeting us. We obviously left at that point because the young lady was not concerned about paying customers and her job and was more concerned about entertaining her buddies . The manager gave us a lot of BS and initially told us that he didn't want to push the issue and make the couple out their mad and pissed . We stood there flabbergasted that he cared more about gently correcting the wrong people and to piss off the people in the right. He had no problem with us being upset or leaving . Clearly we weren't important enough in their books Take your money elsewhere . These people do nothing but play and cover for their people when they are in the wrong. We went to Logans and had great time down the street . Much better and everyone is treated right, not just the servers friends read more

I got a chance to check out this place while in Mississippi. Georgia Blue is a nice place for great soul food. The service was great, and I was pleased with the waitresses knowledge of the food and recommendations. I just wish that I had a bigger appetite the day I went. However, I did order the turnip greens bites with a honey remoulade sauce. They were so good! I could continue eating those all day. My family really enjoyed their meal as well. Georgia Blue is a great place to eat in the Dogwood Festival/Flowood/Reservoir area. I've also been to the Madison location for appetizers and beer, but never had a full meal there. Based on my experience at both though, I think it would be pretty much the same. The menu is pretty diverse cuisine-wise, but not one that has an insane amount of options to where it takes 20 minutes to decide what to order! It looks like the menu runs from pretty basic to several more complex (or fancy) dishes. There were four of us dining. Two had appetizers as their meal and two of us ordered entrees. I ordered the Blackened Shrimp Tacos. It comes with three of them and they were absolutely delicious. The shrimp was well cooked, well seasoned, good sized, and an appropriate amount for each taco. It has lettuce, corn, avocado cream, & finished w/ fresh pico de gallo. I wasn't sure about the avocado cream, but it was great. (If you aren't a fan of avocados ask for this on the side and try it. You won't be sorry!) It also comes with tortilla chips and a very chunky salsa. The salsa looks like it is simply chopped tomatoes, but it is flavorful and not at all spicy. The other entree was the Chef Salad. Let me tell you, the entree salads are HUGE. My mother took 1/2 of it home with her. It had plenty of everything and the dressing cameo on the side. They have a great selection of dressings. She added shrimp to her salad and it was well cooked sauteed or broiled shrimp. You can add Chicken, Lump Crab, Duck, Salmon, Shrimp, Mahi or Ahi Tuna to any of the salads for an additional cost. We also had the Crawfish Crêpes at the table (ordered as an entree for someone who wasn't very hungry.) This is (according to the menu) four handmade crepes stuffed w/ goat & cream cheese, covered w/ a crawfish & white wine reduction. 'These were well plated, looked fabulous and included plenty of crawfish tails. One side note is that the crêpes themselves are prepared from the same batter as a dessert crêpe. This means that the crêpe itself was sweet despite being in a savory dish. It made for an odd combination, but not entirely unpleasant. I think these could be improved by using a batter that was not quite as sweet. The last item was the Crab Cake Napoleon which is (according to the menu) crab cake sandwiched w/ our famous fried green tomatoes, topped w/ goat cheese and finished w/ crawfish cream sauce. This was a pretty plentiful serving, and the crawfish creme sauce was the same as that on the Crawfish Crêpes. They neglected to put the creme sauce on this before serving it and brought it out in a cup after he had started eating. The service was decent. It wasn't exceptional, but my drink never emptied and we didn't have to wait for the check. Admittedly this was on a weekend night and they were slammed. The waitress was competent and cordial. Atmosphere wise the tables are pretty close together. You can carry on a conversation, but there is a bit of din. It is clean and well decorated with re-purposed bead board tables. read more

Wow I am sorry to have another awful experience with food here on my visit to Jackson, MS. I ordered a gyro salad with an extra chicken breast. What I received after a long wait looked like a house salad with 4 slices of cucumber and 4 cheery tomatoes cut in half, and lots of lettuce, as well as the saltiest chicken breast I've ever tasted. The gyro salad was missing the gyro meat?! It came later and looked like the pressed slabs of meat (4) that are made to look like they have been sliced from a rotisserie. The gyro meat was so salty I couldn't eat it! This was as far away as you can get from a Greek gyro salad as you can get. Someone needs to take the salt shaker away from the staff cooking. Blue Plate Pot Roast and Service were disappointing! While the server appeared to have only a few tables, he ignored us for almost 15 minutes. Finally took our order for beverages, and was gone another 10 minutes. Once he took our food order, the food was served quickly. We had been told the Blue Plate Pot Roast served at lunch time on Thursdays was good. Instead, we found the gravy that was poured over the pot roast had been way over-peppered. I ate my sides and only a few bites of the meat. My spouse couldn't even eat the mashed potatoes, as they were topped with the peppery gravy. We didn't see our server again until he brought the check. He could see we hadn't eaten much of the meal, but didn't ask if there was a problem. When I told him about the pepper, he just said "people usually complain that it's too salty." Really????? We could have pursued the issue with management, but by that time we had decided we just won't go to Georgia Blue anymore. Bad food and bad service isn't worth the hassle. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants! They have daily lunch specials (except for Saturday). If you can't make it for lunch they do serve the lunch special family style for dinner! On Fridays they have your choice of fried fish or chicken pasta! Both are amazing! With your choice of meat on the lunch special you get your choice of 3 sides. They have really good Mac and cheese and fried okra. The mashed potatoes are homemade! If your not in the mood for either one of those the rodeo burger is awesome! I get the fried egg on top of it too. Big hamburger patty w onion ring mayo BBQ sauce and pickles! If that's doesn't strike your fancy the fish tacos are an awesome choice as well! My friend had the mahi sandwich and he loved it! I have noticed the service on the dining side seems to be better and more friendly. On our way to Florida and stayed at the HI Express just right down the street. We dined early (5:15) so it wasn't crowded, and we ordered an amaretto sour and a draft beer. The beer was good and cold, hubby enjoyed. My drink was terrible-it tasted of nothing but OJ. If there was any amaretto in it, it was undetectable. Hubby ordered the Mardi Gras-blackened mahi over redskin mashed potatoes, with sautéed spinach and tomatoes and topped with crawfish cream sauce. It was really good. I had the Bayou Catfish-lightly breaded and fried catfish fillets with roasted corn and cheese grits, tomatoes and okra, topped with the same sauce. Lots of crawfish in the sauce, all good. Not so good? The food arrived to our table but was not as hot as we would have liked. Asked for some bread and was charged $1.50 for 2 extremely small slices. We spent over $50 on our meal and you're charging for 2 tiny slices of bread? Come on!! We will return but be sure we will not order any miixed drinks or ask for any bread.
