One word; gross. It'd been a while since we'd been to a Denny's and we figured we'd give it a shot for a yummy pancake breakfast. As we sat down my wife wiped the table in preparation for our 15 month old daughter who likes to mouth the table sometimes, the wipe came up filthy!! We doubt the tables are cleaned very often. As for the food, there was nothing yummy about it. And the coffee was horrendous, probably the worst coffee I've ever had, it might have been filtered dirt. So I got the all American. It came with 3 eggs and when I got my food the eggs were raw not even cooked over easy. I asked for medium well. They took it back and waited over 15 minutes to get the second order. I was with my boyfriend and went to Dennys today, and upon being seated at our table, we were treated to overhearing the server complain to the hostess about seating us at her table. She then approached with an attidude, and impatiently asked us if we would "like a coke or something ," as the first words to greet us; not hello, her name or any pleasantries associated with a waitress arriving for the first time at a table... it was at that point when we decided to leave. We live in Waikiki, and so we often frequent Dennys because of the convenience and the other wait staff is usually friendly and competent (especially Tina who is awesome and has served us numerous times with much aloha), but this particular server apparently hates her job. Not to .mention we had to listen to her whining to the hostess, and worse, the hostess loudly defending herself by saying loudly "I tried to put them here" (pointing to another table, "But they wanted to sit here." It was embarrassing and tacky, in addition to the complete lack of even a greeting for us afterwards. Want your shift to be over? Should we come back? It was like we were imposing. Unreal. I give it 3 stars ONLY because the waitress was nice the few times we saw her. We waited 10 minutes to get acknowledged after we sat at our table. She walked past us about 5 or 6 times too catering to the table behind me just ignoring us. We were just about to get up and leave which is something my husband never wants to do. Right when we were about to leave she finally came and took our drink orders and our meal orders at the same time because we waited so long we had plenty of time to look over the menu a few times. Once our food was delivered my husband's order was wrong but he went ahead and ate it. He asked for French fries but received hash browns. No biggie to him. She forgot my son's water and dipping sauce for his chicken nuggets. Never got a chance to ask for it though because we never saw her again until she delivered our check! I come to this Denny's all of the time. Most of the time I get pretty good service. It's a pretty homie and chill Denny's. The atmosphere is of course very touristy because of course it is in Waikiki. I would say the Kuhio one is even more touristy. During some early evening week nights you can see more elderly come down here and the like to talk story to the max for real. And then of course you have your random tourists having their meals down here. You kinda feel like a tourist yourself if you where dining in. It's like they start their day at McDonald's and end their day with Denny's. I always order from the best menu ever in a restuarant which is the 2468 menu. The build your own chicken wraps along with the pancake puppie sundaes are the way to go and excellent combination fro a meal all for 6 bucks. This location is right across from the Halekulani hotel and a block away from shops like the Yardhouse as well as Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. I suggest parking at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center and just walking down. Don't forget to get your validation. I wouldn't park anywhere else as it would get more pricier. This used to be mine and my bfs place to eat for 6 years straight. That's until may,15. We made our usual order over the phone and when it was picked up and brought home we notices it was missing a few things so I called and asked if we can bring the plates back because they were already cold and just have them remade with everything on them this time. When my bf picked up the plates he noticed right away a lot of attitude and shadiness from whoever the guy was. When he brought them home he was actually afraid to eat them because he was afraid they had done something to our food. Me having faith in the place since it's been our go to spot for years said it's ok let's just eat since it was both our first meals of the whole day. After eating it took maybe a hour or two I instantly became nauseous and sick from 11pm that night all until the full next day my bf and I both had food poisoning. Usually this wouldn't be such a problem but not only did I have it I am 4 months pregnant putting my baby in harm. I also thank god that night I fed our daughter soup instead of the meals we bought. I've never in my life have had food poisoning and since this was our first meal and we were the only ones sick and not my daughter I know it's from this place. The food was really good. We ate breakfast on a Sunday. I will recommend the food to others, but the service is what took this review from a 5* to a 3*. When we waiting outside we were rudely told to move to a different waiting spot twice. We could not stand by the window or in front of another business' door, even though they were closed. We ate at Denny's on Lewers Street our last day in Waikiki. We were seated in Tina's section and what a positive experience that was. She's a little firecracker and super efficient, not to mention friendly and personable. She made suggestions so we'd get the best value for our money, didn't rush us through our breakfast, and was very attentive. Our food was excellent and the coffee was surprisingly good. We made a point of telling her what an excellent server she is and left a generous tip. We had great service at other restaurants and bars during our stay, but Tina stood out and was by far the best server we had during the two weeks we were there. Let start by saying, you can do a whole lot better eating somewhere else. Took forever for our waitress to acknowledge us. Although the food was quick, that's what happens when you Nuke some of it. I ordered a French Slam and the French toast was the kind you Nuke or put in a toaster to heat up. I ordered scrambled eggs and they cam out fried hard. I asked the waitress about it and they said that it is scrambled. I told her that scrambled eggs are scrambled before you cook them, not after. My wife had the sane issue. They said they are used to liquid eggs and they have to Crack eggs in the Shell So what!!!! That's how you cook them. The kids pizza was Franco American sauce nuked over a pre-made crust. There was hardly any cheese on it. My kid hated it. I asked them for more cheese and th hey said they would have to charge more for cheese. I said I would not pay for the pizza at all as it was crust and sauce. They just took some cold cheese and sprinkled more on top. I asked for the manager and he never came.
