I haven't had Denny's in years, but I was in the area today and popped in, the food was great, better than I remember years ago.

Update July '12: I've been to the Hayward Denny's about 3 times after writing my original post. This means my views have changed toward this Denny's because things have begun to turn around at this particular franchise. On one occasion, it was during the late of night, somewhat similar to the dreadful night I had previously; however during this experience, me and my 4 friends had received our order within 10-15 minutes of ordering. This also includes the fact that the place was at about 65% capacity. I had ordered my new-longed favorite: the Brownie Sundae a la mode. The waitress served this at the precise time that my friends had worked into their full meals. By the time I had finished, so did my friends. The timing was impeccable as I didn't have any standby time between the rest of the table even though my meal was smaller in size. They've upped their staff, their timing of serving water and keeping us updated on the status of our food is the main reason why I don't mind going back to this particular franchise. I'm not giving this more than 3 stars because on another occasion, I had specifically ordered the Malibu Fish Tacos (pointed it out from the Tour of America pamphlet) but the waiter had served me a serving of half-nachos. I had to wait an additional 10 minutes while my friends ate before my order arrived. Summary of food ordered here: Brownie Sundae a la mode: Top notch dessert for the price. The brownie is extremely soft and I have not had any burnt sides or bottoms to date. The ice cream is the cream of the crop to a warm brownie and they aren't stingy on the chocolate syrup. (A+) Strawberry Pancake Puppy Sundae: This is up there on the pancake puppy sundae list. I still think the Blueberry PP Sundae is the cream of all the pancake sundae crop, but this was extremely close. The amount of serving of Strawberry syrup and berries are great for the price and the fried strawberry pancakes are sweet and fresh. (A) Malibu Fish Tacos: Part of the "Tour of America" campaign this summer. The price is solid for the amount of food served. The tacos are pretty tasty, including the pico-de-gallo topping. Still rating this place a fat "ZERO". To date, not one person has been in touch with me with and update or resolve after providing contact information. Absolutely nothing was done. With so many other dining options available with much better customer service, I have made it a personal mission to "NEVER" give Denny's another penny of mine. We dine out at least 2-4 times a week, and found so many other dining options from small mom and pop places to 5 star business where the bill can be well over $500. We frequent places for the experience and service and tip very well for personable engaging service. All I can say is, thank you Denny's Corporate office for your lack of regard for dedicated patronage, we now go up the street to Black Bear Diner without incident or excessive name calling for terrible service! read more

This place is a dump! I ordered a salmon last night with mash potatoes and fried the mash potatoes looked nasty af had a huge black lump in there so I didn't touch them I moved on to my salmon and as I'm seating it I notice something super long i thought It was a bone a pick it up and it's soft and still moving! Ladies and gentlemen is was a worm! I have not heard back from anyone regarding the issues. They don't even deserve one star only given because it's the only way to post this review. This star is for the times I go there for breakfast and the build your own slam. The dinners are something not to be desired. The service was friendly but slow and inattentive and the meal was not a good value even though it was cheaper than Chilis 2 for $20. Although I never went to Denny's for the food, this place has went downhill, IMHO, after the renovation. How can ground steak be worst than a burger (maybe it is not)? The $8 cowboy steak was really rough and dry and the sides really did not help. The smoked cheddar mashed potato was really chalky and the cheese did not smell smoky. Hence two for $16 with drinks included is no match for 2 for $20 at Chilis without drinks. I hope their late night apps are still good. read more

This Dennys location is by far one of the best in the area. The service was quick and polite. All of the employees were very attentive, especially our server Andrea who was super nice. She kept our cups refilled and check up on us frequently . Definitely recommend for any occasion 10/10 read more

This place always lacks servers. The Asian Manager is rude and doesn't know how to manage the place. Poor service. Go elsewhere if you want better service. Went once and witnessed the Asian Manager being rude to customers who were waiting to be sat. Seems like she gets overwhelmed. read more

We have tried to keep coming back thinking maybe it would change(since we live close) but this location is just not a good one . Every time we come there's customers standing around and we are all waiting and waiting to be seated or even be acknowledged even when the place is pretty empty . I ordered some food to go a couple days ago , I tried to call in about three times and no answer . So I just went in and ordered ..... took way too long to begin with which I work in the restaurant industry and can understand , but I paid $30 for my order to be missing and not cooked all the way. The hash browns were still hard and undercooked :( and for the All American grand slam they didn't even give the full order , which I should of checked before leaving . And when I tried to call to let them know they forgot some of my order I couldn't cause no one answered the phone again . Very disappointing . Last 3 times I decided to come one with friends or family it's been a horrible. Wait for drinks at least 30-45 minutes and then food another 30- -60 minutes. This is a place I always pass by after dropping my son in school. Place is clean, staff nice but it could take too long to wait for take home orders. Parking is ample. Food is cheap too and their pancakes are just so fluffy, I don't have to go and wait longer in IHOP. read more

Came here around 1-2am and everything went pretty smoothly. We were seated right away and our waitress, Josefina, did not take too long to take our orders either. I ordered a big Dipper (I think that was the name) and it was pretty good. The food came out at a reasonable time and the order was correct. Josefina was friendly. I really have no complaints about this Denny's other than there might be some people outside asking for spare change. WORST SERVICE EVER!!!!! We get here and they hand us our menus- one of which is sticky and dirty. We let it slide and order two hot chocolates, my cup comes out with a lipstick stain on it(I wasnt wearing any lipstick) Which i didnt even notice until I was half way done and my husband pointed it out to me. At this point we were starting to get upset. Finally after about 20min they brought our food and my burger was-you guessed it-COMPLETELY WRONG!! Of course the waitress got it wrong TWO MORE TIMES. Went For Breakfast This Morning before 10. I was greeted and seated promptly It was a bit busy, My server (Sarajni) promptly greeted me said she would be right with me and she was, she took my order brought me my drink and it seemed like minutes I got my Breakfast, she checked on me several times which I appreciated. I made the mistake of coming here to use a gift card. I arrived at 12:37 and didn't get soup or sandwich until 1:33. Didn't get water for over 40 minutes while the adults at the tables nearby with many squealing children seemed to think spilling drink cups and squirting ketchup onto the floor would help expedite their order. The soup was supposed to be vegetable but I got beef barley and since I'm already complaining, the sandwich was on the small side, with broken toast. If you aren't Hispanic don't go here. We walked in got seated. Got ignored multiple times. We had to ask the server to order. She said she didn't know where the other server was that apparently we were supposed to have. When the whole time we were there we never saw another server. 6/23/19: This is the Denny's I usually come to because it is the closest to my house. Summer has started, so one night around 8:30PM, a group of 4 other friends and I came into this Denny's for a meal. The service was smooth and as fast as could be expected. I ordered a CAKE BATTER MILKSHAKE (my brother got a STRAWBERRY MILKSHAKE). Their Cake Batter Milkshake is unexpectedly good. I could not stop myself from drinking this, it was sweet but not too sweet. I also ordered a side of EGGS, cooked OVER EASY. My brother and I decided to split the NEW GARLIC PEPPERCORN SIRLOIN STEAK And we got two sides of the CREAMED CORN with JALAPEÑOS. For dessert, we wanted SALTED CARAMEL AND BANANA CREAM PANCAKES but since they ran out of banana, they replaced it with STRAWBERRIES, which was even better. At the end we ordered another two sides of creamed corn. I love this place, but maybe I should eat less next time haha. read more
