Great service from the waitress but the food was bland. I ordered the bfast special, ham and egg with hash browns and toast. $15.99. I also ordered 2 bacon srips. I asked for my eggs to be soft scrambled but when I got them, they were all chopped up and dried. The ham tasted ok but no real flavor. The bacon was dried and not juicy at all. Then I heard a lady that was leaving tell the cashier that her pancakes were undercooked. She left them there but paid. The cashier only said sorry and dismissed it. Came in on a Monday morning for breakfast after a job walk. Got there right when they opened. Out server bought over coffee fast, we looked over the menu and ordered. Both of my co-workers got the Maria's Omelette which came with Bacon, Sausage, tomato, onions, Swiss Cheese and Country Potatoes. They both said it was good. Anna's which was called Lugos many years ago is a small breakfast spot in Hayward. They serve American breakfast as well as Mexican breakfast. They have fresh Salsa daily, just ask for it. Also if you prefer to have tortillas instead of bread they will accommodate you. Today I had the breaded steak and eggs with gravy, toast and hash browns. They did not disappoint, it was delicious. The waitress will always say bye with a Dios lo bendiga(God Bless you!)The employees take pride in serving and will treat you right. My boyfriend and I came here late morning into the afternoon on a Sunday. It was fairly busy so there was about a 10 minute wait for us to be seated. This restaurant is very cozy and feels like home. They serve breakfast and lunch items. The food was good although did not arrive to my table hot and we waited about 25 minutes for our food. Service was on the slower side this morning. I ordered the chorizo and egg plate, the rice was especially cool but the eggs were hot, this was served with a side of 3 tortillas and medium spicy salsa which I enjoyed. My boyfriend was craving chilaquiles one morning, and we stumbled upon Anna's while looking for a place. The venue's a quaint little restaurant with a family vibe and staff were super friendly. We were seated immediately and made our orders. - Chilaquiles: pretty solid, flavorful, abundant - Breakfast burrito: huge portion! Decent in terms of flavor - didn't blow my mind but also wasn't bad. - Mexican Hot Chocolate: DELICIOUS AND RICH. I love Anna's. I have not found a place that makes Machaca this good. It us one of my favorite thing to eat. If it's in the menu I order it and so far , Anna makes the best. My girlfriend and I stopped by here for a brunch/ late breakfast this past Saturday. We arrived around noon and the place was busy but not fully occupied. We were promptly seared and given menus. The restaurant itself is reminiscent of old school diners I've seen on the east coast. Very quaint and honey , which I appreciate a lot. For our meals, I got a black coffee and an order of chilaquiles with red sauce and my girlfriend got cheese enchiladas and an iced coffee Food came out fairly quickly and was good. The beans and rice on both dishes were perfect. I enjoyed the chilaquiles a lot - my only comment is that I wish the red sauce had a little more oomph to it. My girlfriend enjoyed her cheese enchiladas - cheese enchiladas don't lend themselves the best for structural integrity but from a flavor perspective she said it hit the spot. Service here was very nice - our waitress was friendly and consistently checked on us to make sure we were doing alright. This was my first time here with my family and I'm lowkey disappointed. We got seated pretty quick but then waited 25 minutes for someone to get our drinks in and at this point we just placed our order. Super helpful because sometimes my husband craves the Mexican breakfast when I'm not. We were out running errands and saw this place open. The restaurant is small but welcoming with outdoor seating as well. I ordered the turkey melt which was on herded sourdough I think. It was really good. My eldest had the corned beef with hash browns and eggs (breakfast is served all day). My youngest had a cheeseburger with crinkle cut fries. Everything was tasty, the server was attentive and came to check on us frequently. The restaurant is in the middle of a strip mall surrounded by fast food restaurants. 2023 Update. The owner of Anna's has been very much hard at work in making sure that it looks like it's in tip top shape after the pandemic although it has been through some temporary closures in order to bring the building up to snuff etc. They are open after all but their hours were modified after the whole pandemic was called off. So if someone approaches you about this restaurant and asks if it's open, yes it is. Tell them to check online for the hours prior to coming inside the door. My husband and I, and a friend, we all went and the service was great. The one gripe I had was the hamburger bun on my cheeseburger was a little bit crispy but salvageable and my friend said their french toast sticks were a little bit on the tough side toward the outer edge. But other than this, it's still the same old Anna's that is popular with locals, those outside the city and people traveling up HWY 92 to other freeways. Great for family pit stops btw. Party of 3 to eat, was about $58 our outing to here, your check may vary based on the food you eat and number in your party. Even though we put in our order first and people started showing up 15 mins later, they waited until everyone else ordered and then brought all the orders out at the same time. Our food came out cold. Breakfast wasn't a good value for the price. $19 for mediocre hasbrowns, eggs and links. $6 side of toast, $5 for 1 coffee, $6 hot cocoa, $5 for kids lemonade $70 for 1 regular breakfast plate, 2 kids plates, drinks and toast. I stopped by as my friend knows I love shredded beef burritos and this place offers a Burrito Famoso ("famous burrito")..called in my order and ready for pickup in 10mins Burrito had some flavorful shredded beef with slices of avocado, seasoned rice, sliced raw onions (hmm that's different but then I like onions) and some chopped tomatoes covered with a red sauce. Delicious! initially, I was taken aback as I found a random corn and then I had to slice open the whole burrito to do a close inspection! We never really explore Hayward's little gems and finally had a chance to dine in after restrictions were lifted from shelter-in-place. Yay! Anna's is definitely a mom and pops and has that old diner vibe. We dined inside and there were about four other parties there. The service was good and they kept coming back to refill the coffee, which was nice. We got the breakfast burrito with chorizo and the Machaca con Huevos. They were not extremely hearty. The prices are OK, around $35 for breakfast for 2z The burrito had a little bit too much potatoes and could've used a different filler like rice or something. It's so difficult to find a decent place that cooks delicious and authentic Mexican food in the Bay Area, but Anna's family coffee shop comes to the rescue!!! I love the chilaquiles because they don't use pre-made chips and instead fry the tortillas fresh when ordered as they should be according to the recipe. I would rate the red chilaquiles at a spicy level at a 3 out of 12. The Mexican fried rice wasn't good as it was kind of soggy, but the beans made up for it as the lard made them so creamy and delicious. Today I also tried the French toast and it was so good. Topped with powdered sugar they're also aesthetically pleasing. It was neither too soft nor too crunchy. Definitely ordering it again when I have a sweet tooth.
