So glad there's a familiar restaurant that serves familiar dishes. I stayed at Comfort Inn on Whipple Road in Hayward and their breakfast options were below my expectations. I had to find a better place for breakfast. Coming here was pretty easy. Only took about 5 minutes during morning commute time. There were plenty of parking spots. I ordered the 9-Grain Pancake Slam. My friend had a pancake combo and substituted the ham with turkey bacon. Everything was perfect. The service was great. Food was excellent. Just needed a little TLC on busing the tables after customers left and get rid of soap suds after washing the walkway. read more

I would not recommend coming to this location. The service was horrible and they were not even busy. It took them over an hour to bring out our food, that's not the worse part. Our food was cold and they didn't even care. We noticed our food was completed and it was just sitting there waiting for the waitress to bring it out. They of course offered to put it in the microwave, I said no and we should have received the food as soon as it was ready to serve. They wanted to blame the fact they had a big group but I said we arrived before the 2nd half of the group came, I also mentioned that there was a family of 4 that arrived 30 min after and they got their food on time. The waitress was neither welcoming nor attentive, and it took over 30 minutes just to get a simple breakfast plate. To make it worse, people who arrived after us were served first. Then it went from bad to unacceptable. My mom found a curly black hair mixed into her eggs. When I got up to inform the manager, she took her time coming over, showed zero urgency, and offered no real concern. Craving breakfast I must admit I stopped at ihop first and had a horrible experience and ended up stopping here. Soooo glad that I did. Upon waking in was immediately greeted and seated. Not too much longer after given a menu and ordered drinks. Although I didn't see any of the specials on the menu and ended up using my phone to pull it up on their website I ordered right away. Server was very nice and food didn't take long at all. Came out exactly how I ordered fresh and hot! 10/10 on food. Coffee a bit weak aka watery but I'm not complaining not everyone likes it strong. 6/10 service again 10/10 very attentive but not overbearing. Denny's is never, ever my first choice, but I was working late and had a few minutes free--with no kids, just my husband--so I had to make a decision. I'm so glad I did, this night in particular. When we walked in, it was completely empty. Pedro was all alone at the front and seated us right away. We got our menus, and he went off to tell the cook they had guests. Once he got our drink order, more people started walking in and he had to help all of them. I was able to hear him with other customers, and I noticed he was very professional and took time to answer their questions in great detail. Once we placed our order, even more people came in, and he made sure to greet them and let them know he would be right with them. I ordered the Berry Vanilla Crepe Breakfast with only one crepe. The cook accidentally made me two, and Pedro made sure to let me know it was their mistake and I wouldn't be charged for it. The crepes were delicious, but the eggs and hash browns were a little too oily. My husband ordered his favorite--the Slamburger with a side of onion rings. Unfortunately, he only got about five onion rings, even though it was an upcharge to add them. He barely got any. The Slamburger never disappoints, though. The food here is still not my favorite, but I really appreciated Pedro's service. With about five tables and one to-go order, he was still managing to check in on all his tables and bring food out in a timely manner. He deserves a raise! read more

I called in my order so it would be ready when I got there. Got there and the girl had to make. She didn't wash her hands let alone wear gloves. She brings it out and I asked why it wasn't ready and she said cause they were busy. ONE person was in there. Then I gave her a hundred dollar bill and she opens the register and leaves with the drawer open and goes in the back. 5 min later she comes back with a bunch of 5's and ones. I told her never mind I'll use my card. So then she had to call someone to figure that out. OMFG. I called in 2 other times after that and same thing . The girl had to make it and I had to wait. To whomever this may concern, I went into this Dennys location last week with my family, we had a long day and just needed a quick bite. As soon as we met our server, Lucy, she brought smiles to our faces and immediately let us know she would be there for any of our needs. This young lady did such a standup job at making us feel welcomed, ACCURATELY rereading our order, and definitely giving us that five star treatment. Our food arrived in a hot and timely manner, served with a smile and all! Never once did she forget something or show anything other than pure professionalism. These days it is hard to find good employees who have a winning attitude, such as this young girl. She made it such a wonderful experience for us, creating the perfect evening setting. Our server, Lucy, went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was top notch! Hit or miss! Everyone knows Denny's as one of the most ubiquitous diners in America, which means you will get consistent food quality each time regardless of location. Service on the other hand can be highly variable depending on the server you get, the day of the week and time of the day. It's not reliant at all to expect a warm welcome and issue-free dining experience. My most recent visit was on my birthday - they still honor the annual birthday complimentary slam as long as you show proof that you've received an email or code through the app. The app is horrible by the way - there is no birthday code and it's buggy when trying to scan in. We were seated at a booth by one of the servers who was very friendly and understanding when I mentioned I never received the email for the birthday slam (apparently the app wanted me to reset my password before sending me the code, have I mentioned that the app sucks?). Then a different server came to take our order. We just ordered the breakfast slam and a double berry pancake slam and waters (it was just me who was going to get coffee later from a coffee shop and my kid who doesn't drink coffee). We got our food at a reasonable time and the stacks of pancakes looked great! The bacon strips were also very crispy and eggs were cooked perfectly. Flavors and portions were good, it does seem more expensive nowadays but all in all, not terrible. After finishing up our food, we went to pay in the front. The cashier was nice and punched in the free slam, however, they ended up charging me two coffees and what seemed like an a la carte version of the berry pancakes. The price ended up being higher than expected but only after looking at the receipt did I realize their mistake. I went back and asked for the refund but the server insisted I ordered coffee. For a kid, really? I wouldn't have minded if they just apologized for the mistake but they double downed on me ordering the coffee. How rude! At the end of it all, they gave me a cash refund but short by 38 cents (they gave me $7, but coffee was charged as $3.69 each, total should have been a $7.38 refund). I would be hesitant to return and deal with this kind of fiasco again. The unprofessionalism was a huge turn off and I would rather drive further to be met with more hospitality. It could have been an off day but I would still expect respect - not jump to concluding I lied about what I ordered. Overall, this location has a pretty decently sized space for medium to large parties and serves up some delicious food. Just don't expect consistent customer service since it doesn't seem to be a top priority here. read more

We drove to this dennys bc it was 24 hours. We ordered a grand slam and 2 burgers to go at 4:45am. The worker did not accept our $100 bill because she did not have change to give back. There was 3 people in the dining area that got sat before us. What would have happened if we sat in and only had $100 bill to pay with? I went in this morning to get some breakfast with some friends and the experience was amazing. Our server was Anna and she was attentive throughout the whole time. We didn't have to ask for any refills or condiments because she was on it! Her manager Sonia, came around to ensure that everything was good and we didn't need anything. Meaning, the female workers there are NOT washing their hands after using the restroom And none of the employees, working the night shift on a Saturday had access to soap?!?! This location is right off the freeway across from Target. Covid regulations were still in place for outdoor seating. Our server was very attentive. Everyone sat outside in a sectioned off dining area, inside a tent. We must have arrived just at the right time, because when we go there, we saw 6 people already seated. After we placed our order 25 people walked in. Everything was excellent. The food had that trademark Denny's quality. The coffee was great because I even took a picture of the coffee cup! We arrived here at 1 AM for a late dinner after a concert. The vibe of this restaurant was pretty chill and it terms of cleanness, it was okay. Not our first time, but we've noticed they are consistently understaffed at this hour. Servers took a while to come and take our order, and the food also took a while to come out. So, if you're super hungry, we don't recommend going to this Denny's. Our server was pretty nice, and the food was good, though nothing special. Parking was free and easy. I don't make it a habit of reviewing chain restaurants but our experience for today 11/10 sucked. Got seated a little before 9am and got our food order placed soon after. We got our coffee and juice delivered to the table fairly quickly. About 30ish mins go by and we still have not seen our food but we're being patient as the restaurant was pretty busy. Unfortunately right before 9:40 our waitress came to our table and told us our order was "lost" and never even started. I don't know how you can miss a tables whole order for 40 minutes. What a surprise, momma said Denny's pancakes were good, picked up the very convenient Lumberjack Family Pack that came with 8 bacon strips, 8 sausage links, 4 ham steaks, scrambled eggs, hasbrowns, buttered toast and 8 pancakes. Order was ready right on time, staff friendly and efficient, and the food was packed nicely. All food was hot, freshly made and to go containers were packed. Sausage was the standard sausage, thick sliced loaf ham. Lots of crispy hash browns and eggs. Next time I won't order their bacon which was super thin.
