My boyfriend and I were camping at Doheny Point and decided to walk over to Denny's since it was only about 10 minutes away. We went in because it was just after our birthdays and we had the free birthday value meal offer. We double-checked the fine print beforehand to make sure it was still valid. The server was friendly but a little off in communication. When we asked about the birthday reward, he told us only one offer could be used per table, which was confusing since the terms didn't say that. At another Denny's location we had been able to split the check and use two offers, so it was a little disappointing that we couldn't do that here. Since we were already seated and hungry, we just went ahead and ordered other items. The strawberry banana smoothie and mango smoothie were both delicious and refreshing. We also ordered one of the skillets, which came with meat, onion rings, and mac and cheese. The onion rings and meat were flavorful, but they came out at different temperatures, and the mac and cheese was cold and mushy, almost like it had been microwaved but not heated all the way through. It felt more like the skillet was used just for presentation rather than actually cooking the meal. I had been really looking forward to it, but unfortunately it ended up being my least favorite dish of the night. For the price, the quality wasn't really what we expected. Overall, the service was okay, but the food left me a bit unsatisfied.

Honestly, I have not been to Denny's in a very long time, this place was so good! We came in party of 6 got seated pretty quickly and got our food quick as well. They were super attentive my coffee was never not filled. Loveee that! The pancake were so good, the birthday pancakes didn't even need syrup. The veggie omelette omg so good and fulfilling , I was full till lunch for sure! The salad was fresh and good. It was great overall, I had no complaints.

Jemmie is a wonderful, courteous, kind waitress. Our family will definitely be back here again for late night dinner/breakfast maybe even lunch lol. The food was good, it's Dennys so the pancakes are always spot on. Sabrina, order the patty melt, with mashed potatoes. We each enjoyed our choices. We can see the harbor from the large open circular seating. I prefer this Dana Point location compared to our local ones !

We stopped here from the Sawdust Art Festival before driving home because we got the munchies! This Denny's was different from any others we've visited. It definitely had the retro diner vibe. When we arrived we didn't wait too long before we were seated in a booth. Our server came out with the menus and gave us a few minutes to peruse the offerings. We hadn't been to a Denny's in years and we were surprised at how extensive the menu was. We opted to order from the 55+ menu. He chose the scrambled egg with cheese and I ordered the starter meal. Both plates came out hot and both were very tasty. I ordered the gluten free English muffin and although it was buttered it did not taste appetizing and the 2 pieces of bacon were tiny. Everything else was very satisfying. Our server was a man of few words but he was friendly and very attentive. We noticed he was pretty busy bussing as well. The coffee was very good and our meals really hit the spot. This diner does outdoor seating on the street side! It's very clean and bright. The restroom was also clean. This was a great spot to settle our cravings and we would not hesitate to return.

The food here is always delicious, whatever the chef is doing back there he needs to keep it up. The coffee this time was unfortunately very cold and we did not get very good service. I feel like the service here is lackluster but the ambiance and location somewhat make up for it. If it wasn't for the location I probably would be turned away by the cold coffee and not attentive employees. Other than that I usually have a great time here. Just wish it was a little more friendly.

We walked in and were immediately attended to, we were sat down in my favorite area and our waiter Hector, attended to our drinks and dishes. They were brought out our food with a speedy success and it was very delicious! Despite such a busy Saturday morning, everyone was served timely. Service sucks and food was cold. Had to ask for coffee three times. Biscuits were more like military hard tack than fluffy. Interesting enough, seems as if the Spanish speakers were provided way better service, asked how their meals were, if they wanted more coffee, and I am not being a terrible person. We go out to many places and this is the worst as far as service by far. read more

Our church missions team was on our way to Mexico to bless an orphanage. One of our vans experienced an issue and we were left stranded in Dana Point. We decided to grab some breakfast at this Dennys location. There were 11 of us and our server Hector did not miss a beat. He was courteous, hospitable, and quick with our order. He has a special talent of memorizing each order without having to write it down. Impressive! Our team received an extra blessing from another patron who paid for all of our meals. Went here for breakfast. Got the senior omelette entree and enjoyed it. Service was great and very quick. Prices on the senior menu are very reasonable for seniors and are always good. I haven't been to one Denny's that didn't have great food, unlike a lot of other places. Going to try lunch there today. read more

The service was slow. It took 45mns to get our food. My wife ordered an omelette and she said no jalapeno just avocado. When she got her omelette it has jalapeno but no avocado. Our server was Celestino. Bad server. read more

Came here for a birthday breakfast but wasn't offered the free breakfast that Dennys is known for. The waitress did take the $4 coke off the bill. They still do a decent Breakfast here, just noticed the host must have been new and was slow to get people checked in and collect customers money and the manager kept having to step in and hurry things along. We tried the new crepes and it's a small portion but still tasty. They did my eggs "runny side up" and nailed it :)) . Hash brows Never look as good as they do on the menu but we're edible. Yes, we'll we'll be back, even though the prices are 30% higher than we're used to. read more

Karen, our waitress for weekly breakfast is totally awesome. Always has a great smile and welcoming personality and gets our order correct each time. On our way to San DIego recently, We stopped here for some Dennys Pancake meals. I got me a Grandslam with sausage, eggs, ham, Bacon, Orange Juice, Hash Browns. We arrived and thought they were closed. We were the only customers dining. The women's restroom was not clean. I won't go into details but considering we were the only customer at that time, they could have given it some attention. My husband asked if they were slow all day and the server who was nice and attentive stated that the rush was during breakfast/ early afternoon. We arrived after 5 pm. Food was hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The server was able to provide feedback on food items as suggestions. We ordered the chicken breasts with veggies. It came out sizzling. Okay, it's a Denny's! First off, it's tired. Lot's of browns and cream colors. Overall ambiance: old. Now some good news. The restrooms are clean--above average. The manager is on his game. Overall, they seem to work hard at keeping the entire place clean. Service is almost always good. I have a hamburger fetish, so I inflict a lot of them on myself. Theirs is definitely above average and out-punches some of the heavy hitters in the area that sell for a lot more money. It's an old-school chain dinner that is well run, decently priced and clean. I was curious and attracted by the look of the place. The inside looks like a circle. There is only one room with about a dozen tables (6 booths lining the walls and tables in the center). I was greeted upon entry and seated right away. The place was clean and I saw one of the staff dedicating themselves to wiping down each menu. The staff was five star friendly. The food was standard for Denny's. I enjoyed the pancakes (the new recipe which as fluffier), the bacon was in between crispy and rubery but good, the hashbrowns drew me in (I like theirs), and the eggs were filling. I had ordered one of the grand slams. The placed looks business but it was not crowded when I visited. All in all I felt I had a good experience and value for my money. read more

It was so unbelievably dirty and disgusting!!! The bathroom smelled like urine and was not cleaned was afraid to touch anything...The bus boy did a terrible job cleaning the tables left food still rag was dirty,crayons and dirty napkins on floor I told manager he did nothing was not super busy?? Another delicious breakfast. Yes service can be slow because they don't have enough staff but that's the new reality in most places. Very friendly staff and most importantly the food came out hot and fresh. Server even thought to bring the eggs fresh and then the french toast separately rather than wait and let the eggs go cold. Much appreciated. And their coke is still deliciously crisp. read more

Dec 15 9am. Arrived at Dennys . four people eating . Get a booth bus boy brings me coffee. waiting ten minutes, no server yet to take my order"invited birthday breakfast". Four more couples walk in and servers get there orders first instead of mine. 20 minutes later I decide " this sucks" get up go to the mgr and tell him about there messed up service . He continues to charge me 4.59 for a cup of coffee, offers no apologies for there messed up service. Really !!!!!. People go to Macdonalds , at least you get some service there. Denny's is a toilet. not what it used to be. Then you wonder why are restaurants going out of business . You are only as good as your manager, manager sucks all your employees SUCK!!! read more

She politely asked me to wait while she spoke to her manger. Moments later, Kat, the manager arrived and I explained the situation. An unusual request I'm sure, so Kat took a minute to figure out a way to accommodate us. She also politely asked me to wait while she researched a solution. About 5 minutes later, Kat returned and informed me that a table by an outlet would be available soon if we could wait another 10-15 minutes. I happily agreed and let me party know. Not more that 15 minutes later, Kat gathered us in and showed us to our table. Our server, Alyssa, promptly greeted us and took our drink order while we perused the menu. We started with both the fried calamari and crispy brussel sprouts appetizers which were delicious and large enough for the 6 of us. For dinner, we had the Double Smash Burgers, Fresh Catch plate, Grilled Local Fish Sandwich, and the Cali Clam Chowder. Each entree was brought out fresh and tasted amazing! Alyssa was very attentive to ensure our meals were prepared to our liking and that our beverage needs were met. Kat came by as well to check on us and to make sure we had everything we needed. The staff and management at Jimmy's Famous American Tavern in Dana Point went above and beyond to accommodate our party of 6 and provide us with the perfect balance of personal and professional care. It was a Monday and the place was packed with people waiting. The hostess sat us at a booth next to the open kitchen, very cool. We both had the Clam Chowder and Halibut with garlic mashed potatoes, both so delicious! Ricky was our server and he was amazing! We can definitely recommend dining here, you will be so happy!

Parking is easy as there is a parking lot on each side of RJ's.

That being said, once we did get dressing, I seriously could've drank the stuff it was so yummy. They also scorch their tomatoes in the salad to perfection. I also tried the crispy tuna appetizer, which was surprisingly different from similar versions I have had at sushi restaurants (not in a bad way). The fish was very fresh and I would order this appetizer again. I think it came with five fairly small pieces (just so you know how many to order for a crowd). If you are feeling dessert, they have an incredible (and massive) butter cake!

When the FIFA World Cup starts, I love watching international football (soccer). For years, I was looking for the perfect place to watch the matches after my old favorite spot closed. I've been coming to The Point for more than 20 years, but I never realized what an amazing place it was to watch sports until the World Cup. The atmosphere is incredible. The sound system is fantastic, every TV is tuned to the same game with the live match audio, and no matter where you sit, you have a great view of multiple screens. It feels like you're inside the stadium, surrounded by fans who share the same passion for the beautiful game. We waited for about 10 minutes and I decided to ask about her drink and the employee handed me a Coke that was sitting there under her name. We were standing by the pick up window the whole time so I'm not sure why he didn't call her name when he was calling everybody elses'? Best part is that after we started to walk away, one of the employees came out and made an announcement that you can order drinks from the cart. Half the queue got out of line and moved over there... This should be on a sign somewhere so that you can get in the correct line and not wait forever to order.

Today, on a Saturday at 12-ish, as a family of 4 we were able to get seated right away. Our server was attentive and offered/brought waters right away. We were seated inside which was open and spacious but loud enough to make it family friendly. The tables were far enough a part that you did not feel like you were on top of each other. Next time, we might ask to sit outside so our young boys can watch the cars drive by. We learned that the kitchen is nut free (always double check as this could change), which was amazing since our son has a severe nut allergy. He was so excited to learn this as he can be limited at other places due to cross contamination or the wrong oils. Then when the food came out and it was delicious - it sealed the deal. It is now in the top of our list of places to go. The kids cheeseburger is good size and not a smaller version as some places do. The chicken tenders were panko crusted which was so crunchy. My husband and I shared the smoked carrot and chicken tacos and we enjoyed them both. The beer was also very good with my husband and I each trying a different kind - an IPA and a Pale Ale. We are so glad we finally stopped in and so should you!

I love this location simply because the server is the best her name is Jennifer she has bright red hair. She is so sweet very attentive and I always enjoy coming in when she serves me. I stopped coming here for quite a while about a year because they told me she didn't work there anymore but to my surprise when I got a to go order tonight I saw her I will definitely be coming in on the night that she works!!!! Because I have been a server myself for eight years now I know how customer service should be done and she is spot on I would have definitely have hired her for my restaurant when I was general manager.
