What a view for a monster burrito. Sat at the ocean front counter to eat the biggest breakfast burrito ever (pico, bacon, cheese and at least 4 eggs). I opted for fresh fruit instead of chips and the fruit was crisp and ripe. Food came out fast and the staff was friendly.
It's so much less expensive to dine here than the Ritz Carlton and it's great for a late afternoon snack! I really enjoyed my ahi tuna poke bowl today and it's such a gorgeous day here. Nothing like eating healthy looking at the ocean! It's really delightful here and everyone is so nice!
Good spot with beautiful ocean views, located below Ritz Carlton and slightly above the beach. My wife and I went with a tuna poke bowl each and we ordered chicken tenders with fries for our kids. The poke bowl tasted great, served on the bed of steamed rice and some greens, topped with chunks of fresh tuna, fresh slices of very ripe avocado and all of it topped with tangy, savory sauce resembling a light spicy mayo. Very yummy! My kids' chicken tenders and fries were solid as well. The tenders were crispy on the outside and incredibly tender and juicy on the inside. The fries were golden brown, crispy and tasted just right. The spot is outside seating only and pretty much all tables are ocean-view. The customer service was very friendly and efficient. Will definitely come back to this place again to try some other items.
I like this spot! Came down early morning to walk along the beach and up to the reserve, came back and my group treated ourselves to the food here. Got the burrito and a cold brew and it hit the spot. Theres seats that face the water, but those filled up right away, plenty of tables to sit at if they're open, if not, there's the beach as well as the park behind it to enjoy your food. Food didn't take too long, from the window it looked like they had a full staff. Really great location, it was a good start to the day for sure
Got an açaí bowl here and it was okay, the place itself was very popular and touristy. My bowl was super frozen and honestly just didn't taste that great. I've had so many better bowls! Service was good and quick, great for the convenience on the beach but other than that I wouldn't ever go out of my way to come back.

Young Beach Shack is our favorite place to go for breakfast lunch or dinner! They have delicious breakfast burritos, French toast and good coffee. They also have delicious ceviche and fish tacos, and the best burger you're gonna get anywhere in Orange County! But most importantly, they are kind and welcoming to animals. We ordered a side of bacon for our dog's birthday and we were delighted to see that they wrote a special little note inside the box just for her!
I came here with my husband and dog. We snagged some awesome seats facing the ocean and ordered the chicken sandwich, Acai bowl and a couple of beers. Everything was delicious! Make sure you are not in a rush, orders take a while to come out. Only suggestion I have is it would be nice if they had some relaxing island music in the background.

I couldn't grab all the food in one trip, but the staff helped take half of it to me. Fish and chips - nice batter and very crispy. Portion is a bit small. Poke bowl - fresh poke, it was light and tasty on a hot day. Clam chowder - pretty good and balanced.

Awesome location and can't really beat the view. This spot is quintessential Dana Point. The line was quite long and good took a while to come out but it was a hot day and the beach was pretty busy on the weekend. Probably wouldn't be such a long wait otherwise. If you can secure a bar stool overlooking the water while you wait for the food it's the ideal spot to watch surfers! The burger was juicy and the spiced tortilla chips it came with should not be overlooked. Poke bowl was very fresh and had a healthy serving of tuna in it. I wasn't incredibly impressed with the fish n chips although it is locally caught which makes me appreciate it more. The beach shack knows they can probably get away with upcharging since it's the only source of food at the beach, but for the location and the vibes it's probably worth it.

Cute middle beach spot, pay at counter and fend for your own seating. They have fresh offerings, on the pricier side so it can rack up, but good quality food. Surprisingly good beach shack lunch! Came here after a hike with my girlfriends. I was surprised to see real food and not just chicken strips and hot dogs. I got a poke bowl and my friends got a breakfast sandwich and salad. Service was extremely friendly and fast. There was plenty of seating available for a Saturday at noon. Its conveniently located by the beach and park. There is a good amount of shade, you just have to find it. They don't wipe down regularly so we wiped it down ourselves. The food was made well but the cold brew I got tasted disgusting and was overpriced. It also could've used more ice as it melted right away. Other than that I think it's an amazing beach shack! read more

This place was full, and with good reason (and not just because it appears to be the only joint on the beach!). The food is surprisingly tasty for a beach shack. The views are nice but you'll be hard pressed to find a table. Be prepared to eat your lunch on the beach or on the grassy areas nearby. read more

This place is in such a great location. It's an ocean-view bar without the ocean-view price tags. My favorite thing to order is their michelada, which comes with a cute pepper and hot sauce. It tastes authentically Mexican. It's all outdoor seating. Although they have a good number of tables, it's always crowded. I love that they use aluminum cups instead of plastic. There's also a shuttle that takes you back to the parking lot for a few bucks, in case walking uphill is difficult for you. read more

Nice little spot where you can grab a bite to eat or even a cocktail if you're spending the day at Salt Creek Beach. As you make your way down the big hill towards the beach, you'll notice Young's towards the bottom on the right. They also have a paid shuttle that can take you to and from the parking lot. This is a casual, order at the window and seat yourself kind of place. Depending on the day and time, I could see it getting crowded. But we went on a holiday weekday and didn't have trouble finding a table or have to wait long for our food. The main draw here is the beautiful ocean view but the food is better than expected for a beach shack. Our Fried Chicken Sandwich ($16) was big and came with seasoned tortilla chips. It was tasty with a spicy kick but a little salty. The Fish & Chips ($19) were good. I don't know what type of fish they use but it seemed fresh and the fries were hot and crispy. I just think it's overpriced for one piece of fish. It's a really convenient place to get food after you've worked up an appetite at the beach if you don't mind paying a premium for the location. read more

Location, location, location. Situated steps from Salt Creek Beach Young's Beach Shack offered a beautiful view of the ocean. The shack offers a shuttle service from the parking lot to the shack for $2 dollars a person but honestly the walk only takes 5-7 minutes but the hill can be somewhat steep. My family and I ordered the Fish and Chips, Fish Tacos and Chicken Sandwich. The fish and chips was great, with the right amount of fish and well fried fries. The fish tacos were also good but we not the biggest fan of the chicken sandwich. It's grilled but the chicken lacked as much flavor. read more
We stopped by here during our bike trip. Got myself Acai Parfait and Lemonade. The order taker is quite thoughtful as I mentioned I do not keen on sweet drink, so She initiatively proposed the Lemonade mixed with unsweetened tea. Great amenities with self service mineral water. This beach restaurant has never disappointed. The iced vanilla late was a perfect creamy and full of flavor. Although, my friend didn't enjoy her Carmel latte, which didn't have much flavor, but vanilla was perfect for an afternoon pick me up on the beach. The shrimp tacos are great and full of flavor especially for a small spot on the beach!! The chips have a yummy salted seasoning on them. We waited about 15-20 mins for the food which was reasonable for how busy the area was on a sunny Sunday afternoon. There's a few places to sit right outside the food area, but you can also take the food down to the beach which was so fun for us! read more

Really good breakfast burrito! The croissant breakfast sandwich fell apart easily, and thus was very messy. We got really lucky and didn't have to wait in line on a Saturday morning, but by the time we left there were at least 15 people in line. All the seating is outdoor, overlooking beautiful Salt Creek Beach. Service moved pretty quickly. read more

What a beautiful location to have a casual lunch! My daughter and I stopped by Young's Beach Shack on our way home from Oceanside for lunch. This is a pretty casual place. You order at one window and pick up at another. For a beach shack, the food is pretty elevated. I had the ahi poke bowl. The ahi was fresh and delicious. I was also impressed with how much avocado the bowl included. My daughter got a BLT that she really enjoyed. We were both surprised that there was cheese on it, but she said it was really good. We also got a bowl of their delicious clam chowder to share. Although the walk to get to Young's Beach Shack can be challenging for those of us with limited mobility, a car with a handicapped placard is allowed down the access road to drop you off at the entrance. Sadly, this isn't a place I could visit on my own because I wouldn't be able to walk down and back up the hill, but luckily I had my daughter with me. She dropped me off, went and parked the car, and walked down to join me. After our meal, she walked back up the hill, got the car, and drove down to pick me up. The views from this casual outdoor beach shack where spectacular. I highly recommend it not only for the delicious food but for the stunning views. read more

Not only does this place include the beauty of salt creek beach but the food sold here does not disappoint. Everything tasted incredibly fresh. We came on the weekend when it almost felt like summer so of course everyone was there.. the wait in line and then to receive your order was about 45 min- everyone is incredibly helpful and seating right where you pick up your food or tables scattered up above in the grassy area. We have eaten here a few times already and I just am amazing each time with how delicious our orders are. We went for the tuna poke bowl, even tho the poke is small they give a good amount so you aren't left thinking you just ate a bowl of greens only. The fried chicken thigh sandwich is huge and the aioli they use in most of their dressing is a great touch, not too salty or overpowers the flavors of your meal. The tuna sandwich has a sliiiiight kick to it but the kids loved it. I love when they don't overdo it with the mayo and you can actually taste the crunch of the veggies. To end it with something sweet.. the baked apple pie with salted caramel was and packed with fresh chunks of apple. It's like a McDonalds apple pie but on steroids because it's that much better. Do yourself a favor and order anything on this menu. You will not regret it! read more

I was very impressed with the strawberry lemonade and mixed berry smoothie. I didn't try the food but everything looks incredible. This is one of my favorite beaches in Orange County and I never knew when I lived here how great this place was. Totally worth the stop and walk down the hill from the parking lot just for this. read more

Young's is located at Salt Creek beach. They have a nice variety of items for a small stand. I had the breakfast burrito. It sure hit the spot after walking over four miles. Everyone is friendly. I wouldn't have suspected a casual beach shack to have such delicious food! After a nice time at the beach, we conveniently stopped here for dinner. You order at the counter and are given a buzzer to pick up your food. The food took maybe 10-15 minutes. I got the BLTA and had a few bites of the chicken tenders. The BLTA was great. Buttery toasted sourdough with fresh tomato, lettuce, avocado, and bacon inside. The bacon was nice and thick too. The chicken tenders had a side of this dill "ranch" sauce that was addicting. I am going to try to recreate this sauce, because omg it was that good. Yummy food with a beautiful view, Young's Beach Shack gets 5 stars from me. read more

Absolutely perfect place for a casual breakfast. Coffee delightful. We enjoyed the breakfast burrito which offered pillowy eggs and a good amount of bacon plus pico de gallo. Seating is effortless and overlooks the beach. read more
