A very interesting coffee shop with a unique vibe and plenty of character. The décor, atmosphere, and little details make it stand out from the typical café experience. You can tell the staff put a lot of personality into the place. The coffee was also surprisingly good--well-balanced, smooth, and made with care. It's the kind of spot where you can enjoy both the experience and the drink. Definitely worth stopping by if you're looking for something a little different from the usual coffee chain.

    Matcha and americano to go.

What a great spot to rest after enjoying the local farmer's market! The staff was kind and patient as the patrons ahead of us in line had MANY questions. They still tried to help the rest of us quickly. My wife LOVED the matcha here, and the Americano was solid. Limited seating inside but we enjoyed the outdoor tables in the sun. Fun stop!

I've been to this location a couple of times and I never feel very welcomed. Not sure what it is but whatever, long as I can order my coffee, I guess that is good. I like the seasonal special coffees since they make their own sauce. This time I got the pumpkin latte, less sweet and I enjoyed it. SYOY!

I was in Dana Point for 4 days and each day found myself back here. Their coffee is sooo good and the vibes are so great. I worked from here for two days and came the following two days for a cup and to relax and read outside. My friend and I got food one of the days and it was perfect. The food is fresh and light and delicious. I'll definitely be back if I'm in the area again!

Seriously good coffee without the pretentious vibes. When I'm in a different city, I always look up any roasteries, and Bear Coast represents the laidback Dana Point culture well. I had a vanilla latte that was impeccable with housemade vanilla syrup, and I convinced myself to grab a bag of beans, which also came with a free cold brew that had great rich notes of dark chocolate and some ripe fruit. The folks at the counter were really nice and were happy to engage in a quick conversation about their specialty beans.

Horchata latte was nice but could have been a little more flavorful.

This is a charming little coffeehouse located in Dana Point (they have other locations). While it is small, there is still seating inside and also on the patio. Don't ask me why but they have a bear theme here and there are cute bear decorations here there and everywhere, if you look. I mean, who doesn't like a bear as long as there isn't one coming at you full speed in the woods. The coffee drinks are very nice here but I would note that the flavors are not necessarily as strong as you might expect. The horchata latte was beautiful but just had a hint of horchata flavor. A little more flavor would have been perfect. On the other hand, the iced dark chocolate mocha was fantastic. Apparently, all the syrups/flavorings are made in-house, which I truly appreciate. They have food here, too, and the avocado toast, with red pepper flakes, was very nice. It is a very cute and homey shop with good coffee and good food. Tons of free parking in the lot.

Good coffee. Clean environment. Friendly staff. Decently priced iced latte ($5) Fast service. Can't ask for much more than that.

Bear Coast is a cute spot! Love that they have seasonal flavors, tasted like great quality ingredients. The vanilla nutmeg latte was great, not too sweet. The gingerbread latte had a bready and earthy flavor but not very gingery in my opinion. It's a small inside with limited seating but has some tables outside too. Definitely a good spot to pickup a coffee to go!

Love this spot! Stumbled upon on during the weekend. Was able to find parking on a Sunday in the lot, pretty easily. I was bummed out about the breakfast burritos being sold out but the breakfast sandwich did not disappoint. There's a variety of fresh pastries to choose from and yum healthy dessert balls served. The pistachio croissant was a hit and really liked their ice matcha late. Service was great and food came out super quick. Seating is limited inside and there's a couple of tables available for outdoor seating. They also have cute little corner of gifts to shop through : hats, mugs, beanies etc. Will definitely be coming back for that burrito!

Good place to drop in to grab an iced tea or iced latte. No bathroom inside but there is one outside available with a key. Friendly staff.

It's ok i can be embarrassing. He wont read this lol Okay but this is what I mean when I say "local coffee shop energy." J.C. Beans is adorable. Not in a corporate "we ordered our personality from a catalog" way. In a real, slightly chaotic, neighbor-knows-your-name way. Small parking lot? Yes. But that just means you've found something worth gatekeeping. Also there are outdoor seating by the street AND the parking lot, in case you want to hide yourself from the rest of the world. (I'm team parking lot, hiding.) The staff? So nice. So friendly. Like genuinely warm humans. They even offered my dog treats without me awkwardly hovering and hinting. Immediate loyalty secured. And the WiFi? Slapped. Hord. Like, I could actually open PDFs, upload things, and pretend I was writing something groundbreaking instead of rearranging paragraphs for 40 minutes. Patio productivity with dog present = elite setup. Coffee was solid, vibes were solid, humans were solid. This is the kind of place you accidentally turn into your personality. Would return. With dog. With laptop.

One thing I really appreciated was that they opened at 5:30 a.m., since many coffee shops in the area don't open until 8-10 a.m. or sometimes even later. The location is right off PCH, making it a convenient stop, although the parking lot is very small and I could see it getting crowded if there were a long drive-through line. We initially parked and walked up to the door thinking we could order inside, but found out that orders are only taken through the drive-through that early. The ordering process was quick, and the barista was friendly and efficient. The drinks were decent overall, with a good coffee flavor, but nothing that really stood out. One thing that surprised me was the cost of the add-ons. My sister changed her milk to oat milk and added a pump of hazelnut, and both were an extra $1 each. The hazelnut flavor tasted good, but the additional charges felt a little steep. Overall, it was a convenient stop with solid coffee, especially if you need something early in the morning, but the pricing for customizations would make me think twice before ordering drinks again.

My friend and I ordered vanilla matcha drinks, but they didn't taste very good. The matcha had a strong, grassy taste, so we decided to order different drinks instead. The second drinks were okay, but nothing special. Unfortunately, the customer service was the biggest disappointment. My friend came back and asked for five paper plates. Since she is deaf, she was trying to communicate with the male employee by texting on her phone. Instead of being patient and understanding, he gave her an attitude and seemed upset with her. At one point, he yelled, "Just one paper plate!" We were very disappointed by the way she was treated, especially when she was simply trying to communicate. We hope the café can do better when it comes to treating all customers with kindness, patience, and respect. Because of this experience, we unfortunately won't be coming back.

They have cookies with fillings! And also some shakes and "dirty drinks" (flavored sodas). They have classic cookie options on the menu all the time and several cookie types that rotate weekly. I purchased two cookies and a drink. They have a couple tables inside but I decided to take the cookies home and enjoy the drink on the road. The two cookies I chose were the chocolate chip and the cookies & cream plus the Coco-Loco as my drink. The Coco-Loco is best described as a coconut Coke. It was fantastic, way better than I expected. I appreciated the finely ground ice in the bottom portion of the cup. My pet peeve is when places fill the cup to the top with ice and your drink is gone in three sips but here they provide just enough to keep it cold and refreshing. The cookies are presented in their own box and are large. They are soft cookies but ever-so-slightly crisp on the outside with soft fillings. The chocolate chip cookie had a filling that was essentially chocolate chip cookie dough. It was incredibly delicious and I would definitely get this one again. The cookies & cream had what tasted like Oreo frosting inside and was very good. It was a bit messier as it has crumbles on top and also the weight of the filling caused the soft cookie to fall apart, which one must be conscious of when eating these cookies. It's actually easier to eat when it's in a few pieces. Being a cookie-lover, I find what they have here to be better than what you get at other well-known cookie stores.
