Let me just say I was absolutely shocked and impressed at the amazing service we received. I will start at the golf course because I unexpectedly just got ENGAGED !!! They last minute accommodated my family to share the moment on the 3th hole!! Breath taking!!! Then we had dinner at the AVEO! Wow just wow !!! Jason was just the sweetest! I really commend him for his hospitality and he sent us champagne to top it off! Oscar was so helpful and made delicious drinks ! Thank you MONARCH 10/10! Can't wait to have my anniversary here !!
I have been thinking about the Ahi tuna tartare so I stopped in here tonight and indulged myself, I love the rice cracker that comes with it. probably has 1,000,000 cal but it's so good. Everyone is very nice in here and it's fun to sit at the bar. There's nothing like the Waldorf Astoria! Stop in and say hello
Came here for a birthday dinner and overall had a really nice time. One thing I genuinely appreciated was that when two of us decided to split a steak and a salad, they plated everything already split for us. It made things feel easy and thoughtful without us having to figure it out ourselves. The sirloin was definitely a standout--really well seasoned, flavorful, and served with pesto and potatoes. We also got fries for the table and those disappeared quickly. The bread options (olive bread and sourdough with either olive butter or regular) were a great start too. I tried the French onion burger and while the meat was super tender and clearly good quality, I wasn't a fan of how sweet the onions were--they were very caramelized and kind of took over the flavor for me. The Greek salad we shared was good, just a bit more tomato-heavy than I expected. Drinks were great and everything came out smoothly. Overall, a really pleasant experience with some standout dishes. The birthday dessert at the end was a thoughtful touch!
I honestly love the breakfast brunch buffet here! Great healthy choices, love their chia seed puddings with cacao nibs and berries, their omelette station which I usually get it with egg whites, service is awesome everyone's very attentive, and the ambience is wonderful with a killer view. This place is great for families, couples, a place to really relax and maybe even go for a walk afterwards :) Enjoy!
The buffet breakfast option was so delicious. I love that there's multiple freshly squeezed juice options including a green juice and orange juice. Love a good omelette bar, there's several meat options including smoked salmon! There were also a variety of parfaits and greens. The breakfast options have something for everyone, healthy and hearty options!
This is a repeat for us every year as the Waldorf is an annual or biannual trip. Consistently great food - pasta was incredible! We tried Parmesan crusted chicken, grilled asparagus, the caramelized smash burger, filet mignon, Caesar salad and the butter cake during our stay/ everything was beautifully presented and delicious. We had the BEST most attentive servers! Estephanie, Yair, Jorge, Ignacio & Omar are top notch. They missed nothing and made us feel so catered to. The views are amazing sit outside, so you can watch the sun go down. The only dish we would really love to see back on the menu is the sea bass- best we have had and so flavorful.
The ambience at Aveo is spectacular, with sweeping views all the way to the ocean. For dinner, we tried the fried calamari and Argentinian clay baked bread--both were excellent. The chive butter stood out over the honey butter. The roasted peach and strawberry salad was fresh and full of flavor. The surf and turf was cooked perfectly, though the lobster could have used a bit more seasoning. The sea bass was plated beautifully and light in flavor. For dessert, we had the hazelnut chocolate rocher, warm peach blueberry cobbler, and chocolate bananas foster sundae, but none of them really impressed--they all lacked sweetness. Service started strong but dropped off at the end, and we had to flag down the host to close out our check. For breakfast, the mocha was good, and the complimentary fruit juice shot was a nice touch. Bacon came out perfectly crispy. The Denver omelet was just okay, the pancakes were too dry, but the huevos rancheros had a great kick and were very good. Unfortunately, service was poor--our waiter disappeared after taking our order, and we had to rely on the host multiple times, though he was very apologetic. Overall, the setting is beautiful and some dishes really shine, but the service and desserts could use improvement.

AVEO Table + Bar at the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach was honestly one of the most confusing dining experiences I've had in a while, because visually and service wise it felt like it was about to be amazing. My girlfriend and I came for Christmas brunch and on paper it sounded like a guaranteed win. Aesthetically it had everything going for it. Beautiful view, great ambience, a gorgeous looking spread, and the service was genuinely great. Staff was attentive, friendly, and kept everything moving smoothly. No complaints there at all. But man... the actual brunch was beyond disappointing especially for the price. It was $220 per person. Yes, $220 per person. At that price point you expect the food to be memorable, elevated, and worth the splurge. Instead it felt like a basic brunch buffet that didn't deliver on quality or flavor. A few examples the shrimp tasted like standard supermarket shrimp, nothing fresh or impressive. The oysters seemed off and were kind of warm which immediately made me nervous. The smoked salmon bagels had almost no flavor, and a lot of the other items were just average at best and honestly bland or dry. For $220 a head "average" shouldn't be part of the experience. The high notes were the bacon and a few pastries and donuts which were actually solid but that's not enough to justify what you're paying here. To make it even more frustrating the beverage situation felt cheap for the price. For $220 per person you get one complimentary glass of Chandon even though the whole setup had Veuve Clicquot branding and bottles everywhere like it was a branded brunch. To top it off there were no bottle mimosas only ordering drinks à la carte at $25-$30 each. So after paying $220 each and doing just two rounds of drinks we walked out feeling like we lit $600 on fire. Bottom line if this brunch was a quarter of the price id say it was a decent experience with a nice view. But at $220 per person it was a huge miss and nowhere near the level it should be. There are better holiday brunch options nearby like the Ritz Carlton that actually deliver premium food for premium prices.
overall aveo offered great hotel breakfast with pretty views and good service. the pancakes were delicious and the aveo breakfast had all the classics
Beautiful beautiful restaurant !! Located in the Waldorf Astoria. We were staying here and we wanted to try them for lunch. I love the ambience, they have indoor and outdoor patio seating. The outdoor seating is just gorgeous, you can literally see the ocean from here. The service was fantastic, our server was so attentive, helpful and offered some suggestions of the menu and all of our dishes were fantastic. The chicken tortilla soup was good and the watermelon salad was so refreshing. The flavors of the buratta, the heirloom tomatoes, the watermelon, cucumbers was just a flavor burst in my mouth. I loved every bite. The peruvian stir fry was another great dish, I wish they had chicken but it was a good portion. I also enjoyed the plantain chips with the aioli on the side. Super expensive but that's what you get when you eat at a place like this. You are paying for the high quality food, the view and overall we enjoyed it. We would definitely come back and next time probably do a Sunday brunch.
We are staying at the Waldorf so we're able to just walk to the restaurant, they have amazing indoor and outdoor seating! We chose inside due to our baby. We ordered food and it took a while to order, however food came out relatively quick! They even gave us complimentary juice and a fruit arrangement for our daughter's first birthday! It is a nicer establishment with heat lamps outside with beautiful tiles. Inside is a fun little mix of bar to one side and then booth and table seating throughout the space. I would recommend breakfast here for sure! Can't wait to try dinner here one of the days!
Food wise I would say it's 3 stars bc I felt like I could cook what I ordered (dinner menu). We got a cheeseburger and fries, pasta alla vodka, and a kid's Mac and cheese. For the price and the fact that it's a Waldorf I do expect it taste as if I myself can't cook it but for sure I feel like I can make the pasta myself and a better kids Mac and cheese. However, the service and decor are excellent. We also had breakfast (buffet) here and the attention by the waitstaff was excellent. We waited a long time for a kid's waffle (a la carte) and they comped that. Very lovely ambiance and interior design and great service which is why I'm giving it a 4. But, I would recommend spending $20 - $30 more at another one of their restaurants in terms of food and menu. I don't know if it's because it was Christmas but the dinner menu did not have options compared to the menu pictures I saw on Yelp dated a month ago.
Our room wasn't ready, so we came in for a cocktail and it turned into a few as it took way longer than expected for our room to be ready. Drinks were really good and service from Jorge was great. Since Bourbon Steak was closed (why, at a resort??), we ended up coming back here for dinner. Nice evening and got a good spot to watch sunset Opted for Hamachi Crudo to start and it was fantastic. Then, we both got their French aonion Smash Burger, one with fries and one salad. The Burger was crazy good! Honestly one of the best I've ever had. Salad was fine, and fries were cold, so they redid them. Wife was happier than I was with second batch, but it was nice of them. Glazed Mushrooms were awaste of my time and money. Zero flavor and lazy side. Wine was good. We went with the suggested Malbec. Overpriced, but good. Service from Esthefani was great. read more
We had our Breakfast at the Aveo during our recent visit to Waldorf Astoria at Monarch Beach. My wife got the breakfast buffet while I ordered the Chicken Burrito. Breakfast buffet was good with lot of selections but my Chicken Burrito stole the show. It was so good, that she wished she also ordered the burrito instead of the breakfast. The ambience is great with good views of the resort and far away ocean. Service here is always great. Overall , a very good breakfast experience here ! read more

Honestly we come here all the time & the service is never really that great but tonight reached another level. The manager's excuse was that the restaurant above closed unexpectedly but was a very half-assed apology, almost as if he really didn't care. We're in the service industry & expect a certain type of service coming to places like this. Drinks took almost 20 minutes, we saw our waitress ONE time, we only ordered appetizers & a salad because of the wait and ended up barely being tended to until we asked a busser for the check. Was a really disappointing experience. read more

Brunch at AVEO was absolutely spectacular. The view is truly gorgeous and made the whole experience feel special from the start.The service was fabulous, especially Kevin, who was extremely accommodating and made sure everything was perfect with our table. Staff was also very thoughtful, ensuring we had adequate heaters so we could comfortably enjoy the outdoor seating.The food was fresh and high quality, with the avocado toast as a standout dish. The coffee was delicious as well. We can't wait to come back. read more

We went to eat our Christmas brunch at this festive decorated resort and restaurant. The food was great and the seating and the music were very nice. Maria Z. kept our drinks filled, plates cleared, and even our hearts happy by taking us to the outside ocean balcony for a quick photo shoot. The manager, whom I believe was named Edgar, greeted us, made us laugh, and made this a special Christmas treat for this old disabled veteran who normally doesn't get out to places as nice as this fine restaurant. This place is absolutely beautiful! Highly recommend stopping by, even if you are not staying on the property. The restaurant has an indoor and outdoor portion and full bar. It overlooks the pool, the garden and the water The service is great and the staff is friendly. They even brought out free smoothie samples and a apricot croissant for us on the house. I have tried both dinner and brunch here. The portions are not large here, but they have your classic American breakfast options and a diverse menu for dinner read more

Our server was amazing! I'm sad I forgot her name. We made a reservation for 6:45 PM and they seated us promptly. We sat outside to enjoy the atmosphere and watch the sunset-- it was a little chilly and they had heated lamps and blankets to make our dining experience as comfortable as can be. We tried an assortment of appetizers and main dishes and each dish was delicious! My boyfriend and I's favorite dish by far is the Saffron Rice. Everything was sooo flavorful! And the scallops were cooked to perfection (compliments to the chef!) .. such a scrumptious treat! I had higher expectations for the sea bass. The forbidden black rice and the coconut sauce that came with it didn't seem to have complemented the sea bass very well. But I enjoyed the sea bass on its own. Our last main entree was the prime filet. We ordered it medium rare and it was cooked to perfection; however, the smoked parsnip puree didn't complement the prime filet in my opinion. Had breakfast here on an overcast day but the view was still very beautiful. It was a bit chilly to sit outside but the seats inside still had a nice view of the ocean. The service here was great, very friendly staff, and even got a sample of their daily juice (pineapple, honeydew, cantaloupe) which was delicious. Ordered the Daily Juice, Cazuela de Huevos (Eggs, Black Beans, Tomatillo Salsa, Cotija Cheese, Soft Tortillas | $29) and a side of Short Stack (Buttermilk Pancakes | $12). The juice was super fresh and sweet. The Cazuela de Huevos was very yummy. While the portions aren't huge, if you don't eat much for your first meal, the food could probably last you two meals. The pancakes were also really yummy. The ambience is nice with light and airy space and comfortable seating. Overall, breakfast here was a great experience and I would be back. The entrance to the restaurant is also a lovely photo spot if you are celebrating a special occasion. I haven't had dinner here personally, but I ordered the Parsnip Soup for takeout as a snack and that was great too! read more

The view is amazing. They service was slow because it was busy. They did forget my drink and got my husbands drink incorrect. The food was ok. The chicken and waffles has dry chicken but the churro waffle was delicious. I wish they had the waffle just by itself. The lobster hash had very very dry potatoes. The lobster portion is good size. read more
Located in the Waldorf Astoria in Dana Point. Aveo offers all day service. I had the pleasure to have many delicious breakfasts. For breakfast they have a la carte and also buffet style. AVEO offers one of the most stunning restaurant views on the Southern California coast. The way the hotel frames the sun and lagoon is just breathtaking. In fact, a lot about AVEO is picture perfect. Even the food looks like it was designed for Instagram. Unfortunately, in terms of taste, there is a lot of room for improvement. Of course, it may have just been a bad day, but the whole point of coming to a luxury resort hotel is to minimize bad kitchen days. The saffron rice was over salted, so much that we couldn't even eat more than one spoonful. I commend the restaurant for removing it from the bill, but it was almost intolerable. The chilean sea bass was gorgeous in presentation (see my pic). Loved the coconut sauce, and while I know the dish is supposed to be lighter fare, I wish the forbidden black rice had more flavor (perhaps steam it in coconut milk with a touch of ginger?). Not bad though. I'd consider ordering it again. Overall, while there's room for improvement, I'd come back again. Service is excellent, and again, that view is too perfect. read more
