A recent Yelp Elite Event was held in Carlsbad. I joined other Elites in the trip to San Diego County. We stayed in a hotel and had coffee the next morning in the beautiful City of San Clemente. I enjoy going to the pier and grabbing a drink at Bear Coast Coffee Cafe. It's in a prime location and very popular. My friend, Te-see, treated me to a Vanilla Latte with Oat Milk. It was perfect with a nice mild flavor. The menu includes Americano, Espresso, Cappuccino, Chai Tea, Lemonade, Matcha drinks, and breakfast sandwiches & burritos. Having spent the day at the beach, my partner and I were looking for a quick pick me up before the train came. I had questions on the menu and the barista (male with orange hair; I believe his name is Joshua according to my receipt) seemed very annoyed and answered my questions with sarcasm & one word. When redeeming my free drink, he punched it in for the regular small coffee and said it has to be for the cheapest item. The coffee shop is located right in front of the pier and I was extremely surprised at the amount of people there were maybe because it's summer?? It was okay to me, coffee itself was good, but I didn't feel like the vanilla or nutmeg were potent enough for me to taste. Maybe it's supposed to be more subtle, but I was looking for more of those flavors in the drink. There's some seating outside (a big plus!) and they do have a bathroom on site for customers so you can avoid the beach public restrooms. Really great coffee. The line can be long, but be patient! As with all things, you will get through this. THE DRINKS DRUNK. - Vanilla Nutmeg Latte | Sweet vanilla with nutmeg notes and a frothy heart to make you feel loved. This is pretty damn good. - Cortado | It's espresso with milk in a smaller cup. Quite strong, so be ready for that hit of caffeine (coming from a person who can fall asleep after drinking coffee). THE VIBE EVOCATION. Clean and modern vibes. There are a few tables inside, but there are more tables and a bar countertop sitting outside. Most importantly, the beach has plenty of seating... go sit there and enjoy the waves crashing onto the shore. THE PARKING AFFAIR. Parking is on the street and metered. There's an open parking lot a short walk away and you also have to pay there too. In either scenario, finding an open spot can be difficult, even in the morning hours. We luckily found a car leaving on the street right next to the restaurant and snatched it quickly. Parking lot and street parking is $1.50/hour from 9AM - 5PM. They also have a trolley service which is free, but you'll need to check the San Clemente website to figure out the run times. THE RETURN QUANDARY. I'd like to return one day and try some of their other drinks. We did buy a bag of coffee (Signature) to brew at home and it was quite tasty! read more

Matcha is NOT good, tastes ROTTEN - matcha latte tastes like way too matcha powder added and in rotten tap water. Although I ordered almond milk. It tasted like old matcha as well.
