500 stars, if I could. High Tide Coffee officially became part of my PhD defense victory saga. The night before my dissertation defense, I ordered a 96 oz coffee (joe-to-go) to go with a note saying I was defending my PhD (preemptively apologizing if I looked like a frazzled raccoon and worried anyone on accident while picking up). When I walked in at 7:45 AM (15 min earlier than my pick up time, bc anxiety), the staff immediately complimented my defense outfit -- instant confidence boost -- and when I said I was the person picking up "lots of coffee," they led me to the coffee, already packed and ready :') They all wished me good luck with the warmest, most dazzling smiles. They even included a note that said, "You got this~!" which I kept in front of me during my defense. (see photo) And I passed!!! Also, they gave me half-and-half and oat milk?? In this economy?? Oat milk is basically liquid gold. I felt so loved. So caffeinated. So non-dairy option supported. Usually after defenses, there is leftover coffee that people are trying to give away. But me and High Tide Coffee? No sir. No leftovers. One of my committee members had about 4-5 cups, and I am not exaggerating., (Even in a field that basically runs on coffee, academics are running on caffeine.... and wine, so a room of 12 people, not all drinking coffee, and still finishing 96 oz of coffee is a record.) Thank you, High Tide, for the excellent coffee, the kindness, the emotional support, and the very necessary academic bean juice. Super cute coffee shop that's not too far from Doheny State Beach but pretty okay matcha. My cousins and I stopped by here while we were camping in Doheny. The vibes were nice, very coastal aesthetic with a decent amount of seating. Pretty diverse menu, prices were that of an indie coffee shop. Cashier was so kind and patient even though I was so indecisive, so I definitely appreciate that! What I ordered: -Lavender Honey Matcha: I got this with oat milk and it tasted like water with sweet lavender flavoring, couldn't really taste the matcha. 2/5 My cousins and I weren't very impressed by the drinks here. We all got matcha so I'm thinking maybe their coffee is better because the place was busy. I probs wouldn't come back, and if I did I'd give the coffee a chance. read more

Drove down for the day and needed an afternoon pick me up. This coffee shop is a cool spot with a nice parking lot on the side. There's some booth seats in the back and some outside if you wanted to stay and enjoy your drinks. I decided on a raspberry matcha. It was so refreshing. Not overly sweet or bitter with the matcha. The staff are friendly and efficient. They helped us to decide what drink might fit what we were feeling. They have cute decor and also sell some small business items on a shelf. Coffee...It's how I start my day no matter where I may be...If my coffee is not good it can change my entire mood...just sayin... When visiting the area for a few days, we stopped here for our morning coffee before heading back to LA. The decor reminded me of a "surfer's" paradise and the area was very beachy. My kinda vibe! Service with a smile and the wait time was quick. My latte was exactly as I ordered it...Extra hot, NO FOAM with 3 shots...So, this was a good day:) There are a few parking lots in the area, outdoor seating and inside seating. Great little coffee shop situated along El Camino Real with street parking and their own small parking lot of maybe 10 spots (which I never find to be an issue as most people grab and go). Their drinks are always so smooth and high quality and they have a rotating menu of fun seasonal concoctions. My favorite right now is their Cadbury Creme Mocha! Service is always beyond friendly and helpful and there are fun retro style booths to work out of if you plan to stay but I will note that outlets are limited here. The beach was windy so I came in for some cover. It's a very short walk from the beach and the Metrolink station. I was browsing the coffee bean bags they had for sale and made my way to the pastry shelf and counter. I had already ate so I didn't get anything to eat although the lemon poppyseed muffin was intriguing. A staff member welcomed me to the store. I ordered a small iced vanilla latte with oat milk. Espresso was strong and latte was creamy. The ambiance is very cute inside as well as outside. Some people were chilling outside but it was too windy for me. I drank my latte while finishing up a book I brought with me. They have a kids section with toys too for parents. read more

A place with amazing indoor and outdoor seating? I think you couldn't find a better place. I love these private coffee shops super friendly great payment options. Lots of love for animals, but I had to have a double shot with some whipped cream over the top and I absolutely love the smooth silky flavor of the coffee... I'm next time I'm gonna come back with the Americano. They have a parking lot and you can sit in the sun or in the shade and the indoor seating is like a living room room so sending much love and gratitude for this place they got my day going right!! read more

What a lovely little cafe in the San Juan Capistrano area. Parking is a breeze and my order was ready very quickly. The rose cardamom matcha latte I ordered was beautiful and tasted wonderfully. I super appreciated the lack of chalkiness and the wonderful scents of both roses and cardamom. Two of my favorite things ever. Got me ready to go go especially when having to drive to LAX. The inside the cafe was also beautifully decorated and looked comfortable. I know I wouldn't mind sitting down for a bit after a nice beach walk or charging my car nearby. The customer service here is also excellent. The baristas were friendly and efficient. I couldn't have asked for a better experience during a hectic morning en route to LA. Absolutely love high tide! Usually there's a line out the door, but it is so worth it. They fostered an inclusive coffee shop and their staff is so friendly. They have seasonal drinks that you can't miss, and some breakfast items on the go too. They have a very cozy interior, with lots of goodies you can buy for yourself or as gifts. They also have an outdoor patio area to soak up the sun. They are dog, friendly, I have brought my dog inside to order, but we usually sit outside with any pups. High Tide Coffee was recommended to me during a recent trip to the San Clemente area... it was walking distance from our AirBNB, so it was the perfect way to start our days. My friend Courtney and I walked over one morning and tried some of High Tide's specialty coffee options. I went with the Lavender Honey Latte (half sweet and with oat millk) and it was delicious. I did the same order the next visit even though there are a ton of menu options (both food and beverage) that sound awesome. Snickerdoodle Coffee? Moon Milk? All kinds of sweet and savory treats too. What really takes this gem to five stars for me is the gratitude wall. I'll attach a photo to this review, but they have a bulletin board with a sign that reads: "PAY IT FORWARD" Step 1. Pay for a "PAY IT FORWARD" drink of choice at the register. Step 2. Choose person, circumstance or occupation, write details on card. Step 3. When person sees card that pertains to them, they bring card to register and we make them their drink. This is something you won't find at a Starbuck's or other multi-location coffee shop. We have always really enjoyed high tide! The parking lot is very small but they do have street parking close. The spot itself is small with only a few tables and booths. They do have outdoor seating. The best part of inside is they have a cute small play area for kids! Perfect for entertaining while you enjoy coffee. Coffee wise we have enjoyed everything we get. Typically their honey lavender is our go to! The food is really good, highly recommend the breakfast burrito. The staff is always super sweet, especially over the holidays! Stopped by on the way home from the beach and what a cute coffee shop! It has a bit more seating than I thought looking at the outside. There's a cute nook on the side filled with plants for a quieter space to study or relax. The outside seating is great for the perfect sunny day and has adorable vintage colors. The menu had some unique flavors and it seems seasonal offerings as well. I decided to try an iced candy orange mocha that used an organic orange syrup and vegan chocolate. Love that they do syrups in house and try to offer organic flavorings as well. The drink had good flavor without being overly sweet. The candied orange flavor was very unique and pairs well with chocolate. The espresso flavor still shined and have a good roasted flavor. It seems they have a second location Laguna niguel as well. This place has a local feel and is still a very friendly vibe. We only stopped in for a coffee and then decided to share the breakfast burrito. It's difficult to find a really good breakfast burrito. So many places over cook the eggs, jam in too many potatoes, uses too much salt, sub par salsa etc etc. High Tide did none of those things. Their burrito was balanced and flavorful but not salty.
