It was our first time at Seasurf fish this past Wednesday and i already can't wait to return. It is a small seafood restaurant that has plenty of outdoor seating and also bar seating. We got there a little early so we got a few drinks while waiting as well as an uni pasta that didn't have much flavor unfortunately. I put my spoon in. It did not sink. At that moment, I knew. This was not soup. This was a lifestyle. A structural entity. And it was GOOD. Creamy, thick, unapologetically clam-forward. Not quite Santa Cruz enlightenment, clouds-parting-angels-singing, but honestly? Strong contender. We're talking solid top 4-5 chowders of my life, and I do not say that lightly. Now, my salmon bowl? The fish tacos were just OK. There was obviously the corn tortilla and a large amount of shredded cabbage. The fish was the tail end of the fish if that makes sense very thin, dry, tasteless. I could not chew part of it because it was almost like so overcooked and plasticY if that's a word. It came with chips and salsa, which were fine. I probably would not order this again. The clams are also good. It came with french fries that were crisp and hot. It had a good broth flavor. They require a few of the clams, which was nice to see. And then it came with two grilled smashed pieces of bread, which were just OK. We dined outside. Although our table was clean, it felt very sticky probably from the air atmosphere etc. There was food and debris on the floor. Overall, this experience was just good. Found myself in San Clemente on a sunny Saturday afternoon with a buddy and was craving seafood. Locals raved about Seasurf fish so naturally we needed to check them out. There was a long line out the door at 12:15 pm which was a promising sign. I ordered a half dozen fresh Oysters along with the Hawaiian North Shore Garlic shrimp. The oysters were fresh and delicious. There was a hiccup with my shrimp order and it ended up taking 30 minutes for my food to come after I flagged this to the staff. This was unfortunate but they did offer me a complimentary soda after I requested this due to the inconvenience. The dish itself was very good. The shrimp was tender and flavorful and I did feel like I was back in Hawaii. Just a note, there is a sweetness to the dish that was unique as I was used to more of a garlic butter flavor base. No complaints here because I looooove kkanpoongi. The rice was quite mushy/overcooked, but I loved the side dishes the platter comes with. Clam chowder was also solid. You order at the counter, get a number, water/utensils are self-serve, and your food is brought out to your table by the workers. We came back to Seasurf for dinner tonight for my husband's fish and chips fix. I had the teriyaki salmon bowl. It was not as good as the last few times and the salmon was thin as paper and a bit fishy. The rice was undercooked. It was still hard. My husband, of course, had the fish and chips. The fish they use for this fry fish was nice and flaky, we thought they did a good job on this dish. It did tale a very long time for this order to come out.
