Docent Brewing on Del Mar is a lively, cozy, super chill spot to enjoy a brew or three and grab a bite...with friends or by yourself. Today I'm flying solo and needed a good beer and a solid meal. Surprisingly, I was no fond of their English Barleywine, and I LOVE barleywines. However, their Red Rye Ale was very proper and treated me quite well. The Chile Verde Quesadilla was delicious with bold flavor from the Chile Verde and a nice kick from the green salsa. Also included a side, which the arugula salad round things out nicely. Not at all sad that I wandered in. First time. Won't be my last!! Cheers, friends!!! read more

The service was okay it is a self serve so you order st the counter then pick it up at the counter. It took some time for the food to come out we have waited for the food to come out for atleast 25mins. We saw this while driving downtown and didn't even know that it was here! They actually extended it so it was more visible but before it was a very small place so it is possibly why we have not seen it... they have a patio and plenty of seating inside and a bar plus they also have tables at the very back... the ambiance is okay it is a quick stop where you get a drink and a quick bite! The food were a little bit more on the expensive side and it is not something where you would come back for but they do have plenty of selection when it comes to drinking beers! It is a drinking place so if you like socializing and beer then this place is for you. read more

Docent is the absolute best! Not only during your typical weeknights or weekend hangouts, but I planned a pub golf crawl for my husband and the manager and bartenders were all in to participate! They were so welcoming to our group of 20-30 people it was definitely one of our favorite stops!!! They were also super in to the theme which was Master's! Highly recommend you stop in here!! read more

Docent is, well, decent. They have about 12 beers on tap and a few guest ciders, seltzers, etc. The place itself isn't huge. It can probably seat 20ish people inside and maybe 30 or so outside but if the weather is good, outside is where you want to be anyway because it's right on Del Mar and it's good people watching. My favorite beer was the Uncle Bert, a Scotch ale but I was pleasantly surprised by the food. The eats menu had tacos, salads and sandwiches/burgers. I got a chicken salad sandwich with fries and it was great. Super fresh, generously sized and the fries were perfectly cooked. Nothing like a beer and some fries right on the coast. Awesome brewery with n downtown San Clemente. Nice outdoor patio. You go in and order the brew that you like, they pour it for you and that's pretty much it. They have a food menu which we didn't try. I tried a couple of IPAs including their Gimme. Theybweee both leggit. Really enjoyed our time time there. read more

I think this might be my favored Docent spot. I like how cozy it feels inside. Beers are solid and service was great. No bathroom inside though! It think there's a shared public one outside that all the shops share for their customers. Got a cheese quesadilla. Comes with fries. Kids loved the quesadilla and the fires were more fried batter with some potato content inside . Tasted delicious but definitely fills you up. read more

We recently discovered that we love Docent! The beer, the food, the service, the atmosphere... it's all great. We like the Rabbit Habit (which I think is an IPA) and the Bert Day blonde ale. Also, the chicken Al pastor tacos are INSANELY good. We will be back more often! read more

Omg! I wish this place was in my neighborhood! The tacos... oh the tacos. We tried one of each and they all were delicious. And the arugula salad was the perfect complement to the meaty tacos. We tried the 4 different IPAs and all were distinct and hit the hoppy bitterness you'd expect. Super friendly and helpful service. My only complaint is EVERYONE seemed to need to have their annoying dog with them. So not the restaurant's fault. Definitely feels like a locals favorite. Those are some lucky locals!! If I could, I'd give this place 6 stars! I'll be back! read more

Docent is a hidden gem on Del Mar and loved by the locals, the beer is fantastic and the food is incredible. They have the best Smash Burger in San Clemente, the Beeria Tacos are also amazing. Great fun location with speedy service! The ambiance is perfect for relaxing, having private conversations and people watching, whatever you're into. read more

This establishment has to be the best in service thus far! I have been to the San Juan Capistrano establishment, which is their very first establishment. Service has been exceptional. Favorite beer tender was Garrett at the San Juan location. We've come to love the San Clemente location. Taylor, has to be the best boss in town! Not only is he kind and friendly, he is also the epitome of respect. We come from out of town, almost every weekend and this is our favorite spot. Hats down to Taylor and all the crew that hold down their own and keep this spot running. Thank you for all you do. read more

Small location with some outdoor seating on a patio that goes onto the street (covid type patio). Didn't try their food but it didn't appear to be too appetizing while looking at the plates of others. If you're an IPA person, this would be your jam. If you're not, I wouldn't recommend. read more

Truly a gem of a brew pub. What's fresh on tap is a great variety, even for us cider lovers. Counter service staff is friendly and the food is worthy of both snacking and a nice dinner out. My husband, daughter and I visited this brewery on a Sunday afternoon. First thought, parking sucks at the beach. Not their fault of course just be aware and allow extra time. The brewery is extremely small maybe 2-3 tables inside. Very tight. They do have a few tables outside with umbrellas for shade which is where we ended up. The guy who took our order was incredibly nice and helpful. My people had the chicken sandwich and I had chicken salad. We all agreed everything was excellent including the beer. Now a major downside imo is there are NO sodas. U drink beer or water. There is a little market a couple doors down but that's a bit inconvenient. The area is very quaint and cute. Lots of shops and places to eat. I'd absolutely go back and highly recommend. It was a great start to a lovely day. read more

Some of my favorite brews of all time have been brewed by Docent. They have an excellent kitchen, and their menu includes some vegan items. Some breweries have a cool warehouse vibe. Docent is more 'super comfy basement'. Enormous, well-loved couches and chairs fill the place. Bar and patio seating is also available. read more

We walked right past it so look for the patio . Signage is small. But the beers here ( especially the IPAs are incredible. Very possibly the finest in San Clemente! Coming from Carlsbad and native to San Diego I've had a plethora of craft brews over the last few decades . Docent produces brews better than most in SD. From their Gold Metal Session ( Hefty Fee) to their Incredible IPA ( Our Glass). Docent is at the top of their game. Now food. We only had a few Tacos but here again they deliver. From the preparation, tortillas, to the tasty meats. Expect to be pleasantly surprised. Whoever is making them cares for the best. Tip, they have a little hidden patio out back. Out of all the breweries in Orange County Docent is number 1 for me. Best beer ever! This tasting room is a lot smaller than the brewery but I like it way better. Beer is still the same but the service and food is way better than original location. read more

While entering toward the second-floor parking lot, my daughter slipped on what appeared to be discarded pieces of salad near the stairwell. This posed a serious hazard, and it's unacceptable that no preventative cleaning or signage was in place. As a general manager in the restaurant industry, I understand that accidents happen -- but how they're handled is what defines your operation. When I brought the issue to the manager on duty, it was met with a dismissive and careless attitude. No guest complaint form was offered, no apology was extended, and no effort was made to make things right. At the very least, we should have been offered a complimentary meal - especially given that we were there to enjoy dinner, and it's not easy for families to dine out in today's economy. This situation was not only poorly managed, but it showed a lack of regard for guest safety and hospitality. I expect a follow-up on how your team plans to address this issue, both in terms of cleanliness and customer service, to ensure no other guest has to experience this. Finally made it to Station Craft. We have been eyeing this place for years but it always seems…read morepacked, so we just drive past. Today, on a Saturday at 12-ish, as a family of 4 we were able to get seated right away. Our server was attentive and offered/brought waters right away. We were seated inside which was open and spacious but loud enough to make it family friendly. The tables were far enough a part that you did not feel like you were on top of each other. Next time, we might ask to sit outside so our young boys can watch the cars drive by. We learned that the kitchen is nut free (always double check as this could change), which was amazing since our son has a severe nut allergy. He was so excited to learn this as he can be limited at other places due to cross contamination or the wrong oils. Then when the food came out and it was delicious - it sealed the deal. It is now in the top of our list of places to go. The kids cheeseburger is good size and not a smaller version as some places do. The chicken tenders were panko crusted which was so crunchy. My husband and I shared the smoked carrot and chicken tacos and we enjoyed them both. The beer was also very good with my husband and I each trying a different kind - an IPA and a Pale Ale. We are so glad we finally stopped in and so should you!

My server was super sweet, and the overall vibe of the restaurant was very chill. I got the smoked wings and a side caesar salad for balance. The wings were pretty good. I'm more of a dry rub person, so I enjoyed the wings especially dipped in blue cheese! The caesar was ok. The croutons were good, but it was too much cheese for me. I'd come back again to try their other food.

That being said, once we did get dressing, I seriously could've drank the stuff it was so yummy. They also scorch their tomatoes in the salad to perfection. I also tried the crispy tuna appetizer, which was surprisingly different from similar versions I have had at sushi restaurants (not in a bad way). The fish was very fresh and I would order this appetizer again. I think it came with five fairly small pieces (just so you know how many to order for a crowd). If you are feeling dessert, they have an incredible (and massive) butter cake!

(I work two jobs and the other is a bit of commute to get to) so with that I was thinking, heck, it's still early in the morning (7am on sunday, a rainy sunday) and suggested breakfast. A bit of yelp search, i stumbled on Antoine's and saw a couple of Elites reviewed and ask my staff if they wanted to eat here. Took less than a couple of second but everyone agreed. By the time we got there (around 10am) it was packed and the rain was just picking up because before we got here, the car in front of us hydroplane and skid off the road and hit the curb. Yet, this place was still pack and parking was full. (We found street parking near Starbucks) I had my staff placed our name down since she lives closer, but they won't see you until all your party is here and that's fine. We ended up seating at the bar and left the booth for other parties. Love the teamwork, the staff were super stars doing a rush like that, let me tell you it PACKED HOUSE and we got our food and drinks on time, no one in my party had to wait to eat and I forgot to take pictures of my staff meals, only took mines and what I got for the table to share was a croissant french toast, which I believe was their special of the day. I got the chicken fried steak and the portion are MASSIVE!!! All of us took our food home because the portion size are insanely big and bang for the buck!! Great place to eat breakfast or brunch or even a 'Team Building Breakfast Time' LOL Just happy to treating out my amazing staff on their work. I will be coming back again to try out their lox bagels and chai tea. (It was in a massive cup that reminds me of the show FRIENDS.)

The owner has created an incredible space warm, intimate ambiance, an outstanding food menu, and one of the best wine selections I've seen in a long time. Everything felt thoughtful and elevated without being pretentious. Our server, Tatum was professional, attentive, and extremely patient. I happened to be seated nearby during an interaction with a group of women who were openly rude and condescending toward her from the start. Despite that, she remained calm, polite, and handled herself with grace. If anything, she showed remarkable composure under unnecessary pressure. Service jobs aren't easy, and it's disappointing when unfair situations get misrepresented online. Based on what I personally observed, Tatum did nothing but her job and did it well. Highly recommend The Cellar for the food, wine, atmosphere, and overall experience. We'll absolutely be back.

All in all, Rose Cafe rocks. We were glad to have found this cute place, tucked into a shopping center, no less. Overall, the food was awesome, and the location was super-convenient.
