This is my 2nd time for lunch here. The 1st time I had French Onion Soup which was OK. When I went today I asked the server "which do you recommend - the asparagus/mushroom quiche or the onion soup?"...without hesitation he said: "the quiche." So I ordered the quiche. It had a strange texture, was completely flavorless and with only micro specs of asparagus. I requested to return the quiche and get a cup of soup instead. I was told "that is not possible". No place on their menu is the word 'organic' which makes me suspect their sourcing for eggs, cheese, etc...the most important foods to source carefully. Stopped here for the first time today. I ordered a slice of quiche, a baguette, and the crumb cake pastry to go. When I got home, and I opened a huge box that the slice of quiche was in, there was no side salad or slices of baguette as all their photos seem to indicate. French quiche is always served with a side of mixed greens, at least in my experience. It lacked that bit of refreshment by not having the greens with it. I called and asked why all the photos show it being served differently than I was given and I was told they stopped doing that a year ago. Very disappointed. I'm Visiting from the East Coast, specifically Northern Virginia where we have lots of great food and bakery spots, but this spot in Dana point, LE SAINT HONORE was outstanding. We don't have this bakery where I live so I visited with a CA friend for breakfast while staying there and had a tremendous breakfast plus phenomenal service. Blown away. First I love Illy coffee but my lox on toast plate was beautiful! The manager, Basil, gave me pastries to go on the house as a welcome to Dana point. I was floored! Such a cute coffee shop. I had a cappuccino and I really liked that it was not too sweet. I also got a croissant with Nutella and it was very fresh with plenty of filling. We ordered two cappuccino's an almond croissant and a mini mocha hazelnut cheesecake, they both were outstanding so fresh tasting and delicious! If this review was just for the baguette, I would rate this a solid 4. The baguette has a great chew to it. For some, it might be too much of a chew, but it was purchased late in the day. It has a great tasting crust. It would be a solid 5 if it was $3-$4. But at $6, it's pretty steep for a baguette. Even for Dana Point. Second review is for their chocolate chip cookies. I would rate them a solid 1. They don't have a strong chocolate chip taste to them, even though they look to have a lot of chocolate chips in them. They remind of me store bought cookies. I have been eating here for nearly two years. Everything I've tried has been wonderful. I've had the quiche. It's a generous serving and I always take some home or share it with my husband. The yogurt parfaits are so good and the pastries are exceptional. The manager told us they only use butter. There is no freezer and they don't have a microwave. This is a wonderful place. I am so happy to see it doing so well. There is so much to be excited about here. I came here for the almond croissant - perfectly flaky and loved the almond filling. Another time I visited and got the asparagus and mushroom quiche. I had heard about the spinach version on Tik Tok and had to give it a try. It lived up fully to my expectations. I loved everything about it. I have also been here for the coffee and it is delicious. They use Illy coffee so it feels like you're in France. My only critique is that they only had one server working. I understand it is a small space and it's not always busy but when there is a line it can be a little bit of a wait. Stellar service though! They also had fresh kefir cheese in a little refrigerator, if that grabs you. We only tried a Nutella croissant and it was very nice. I found this place on Yelp and stopped by during a mini road trip to Escondido. Yay for a free parking lot. The food was plated beautifully! That being said, it didn't taste as good as it looked but was still good. I got the spinach quiche (which was served with baguette slices and a salad) and a croissant bateau (with swiss creme in the middle) and both were good but not amazing. Both were $21.28 (I think with a 15% tip included). They have some cute small tables inside and outside to sit at. The quiche was very creamy inside and has a soft cheese taste. I liked the crust and it was the right amount of salty but could have used a touch more flavor. The salad and baguette slices were fresh and tasty. I would have liked the salad in a bowl so the balsamic dressing didn't get on the quiche (those flavors didn't combine well). The pastries all looked so incredible it was hard to decide! I went with the recommended Croissant Bateau and it was good, not too sweet, but didn't taste that fresh. Like maybe it was made the day before or out for hours. I've had some amazing croissants in LA so my croissant standards are high now! For such a small bakery, I really appreciate the variety and tartlets. They have a convenient parking lot behind the stores and are very close to the beach.
