Not only does the name captivates you, but so does their bread. Had to make a stop here when I went to go visit the mission. They make fresh bread every morning and said the flavor that sells out the most was the jalapeño cheddar. That's exactly what I got. The crust was thick, the inside was chewy, and the jalapeño to cheddar ratio was good. The staff here were so friendly. My only regret was not coming sooner in the day to try their baked pastries they offer as most were sold out in the late afternoon.

I would give this place more like 3 1/2 stars. They had been on my list for awhile since we always go to brunch across the street and I had been wanting to try them. I got a banana bread/cake slice and it was good. I really liked the cream on top. The sourdough cookie was not my fav. It was very dry. I think I spent almost $8-10 on two items. It's very pricy for 2 pieces of bread. I would come back to try their sandwiches.

They sell out of most pastries before 10am on the weekend, and with good reason! I hear the bagels are so good, so I'm excited to try them next time. We got the almond croissant and chocolate chip oatmeal cookie. Both were delicious, but the croissant was especially yummy. The service was quick and friendly. The inside is small but has a cute mural for photos.

Love sourdough bread! They have delicious loaves, toasts, sandwiches and pastries. Very reasonable prices in the cutest town.

Stopped by FKN Bakery while my wife was at a doctor's appointment and decided to grab a couple of cookies (I'm a big cookie fan and always down to try a new spot). Glad I did -- these were very good. I went with the salted chocolate chip and the peanut butter dark chocolate. Both were crispy on the edges, soft in the middle, generously sized, and reasonably priced. Easy 4 out of 5 stars for each. Parking was a little tricky...ended up in the back paid lot, didn't feel like paying the two bucks, so I made it a quick in-and-out mission and was relieved to come back to my car still ticket-free am I had two cookies in a brown bag - win win and a grin! Didn't get a chance to try the bread this time, but I'll definitely be back to check it out. Big thumbs up for the cookies

We were eating brunch at Breezy and was curious to see what type of bread they sell solely by their name. We got the cheddar jalopeno sourdough bread to bring back to LA. The owner was really friendly and shared that the the name is the first letter of his kids name. When I got home, I tried the bread and it was *chef's kiss* very delicious when toasted with butter. It's a vert small shop, mainly to go.

I couldn't agree more! FKN is the first letter of the Owners children's names. Thought that was a coo lil play on the name!

Great spot to pick up fresh made bread or a lil something sweet while galavanting through downtown San Juan

I'm finally deciding to write a review for FKN. I made the decision, because we just had another incredible sandwich from here. If you want delicious AND consistent!!!!! This is your place. All of their food is unreal. Sourdough specialists!!! Italian sandwich is my favorite. Cookies from FKN are way better than anywhere else. You'll find me wearing a FKN hat, because I love the food here SO much.

If you're reading this, here's what you need to do. Go to FKN bread and purchase any sourdough loaf because they're all delicious. Then go home, slice it, toast it and put some good butter on it. Thank me later. Maybe even get yourself a pastry too. They're all great but the lemon blueberry muffin hits different. Don't have a photo of it because my mouth was not patient enough. PSA: I am officially addicted to their chocolate chip cinnamon sourdough loaf. Might be one of the best things I've ever eaten and I will continue to purchase it and eat it for dessert every night. Thank you.

Some of the best bread in OC can be found at FKN Bread in San Juan Capistrano. Stopped in and got a loaf of their Italian Parmesan. Fantastic. The bread has a great chew and the flavor was amazing. Will definitely stop by again the next time I'm town.

It has been a long time since I last visited FKN Bread. It's quite a bit of a drive for me, so it takes some planning to make my way out here. A friend of mine stopped by this weekend and picked up a Jalapeño Cheddar Sourdough loaf ($13) for me. I'm happy to report that FKN Bread still makes the best Jalapeño Cheddar Sourdough. They don't skimp on the jalapeño or cheddar. Their sourdough has just the right fermented taste that makes me crave it. I was afraid their prices might have skyrocketed since my last visit years ago, but at $13, it's still reasonable for the size and quality of the loaf. Thank you, FKN Bread, for maintaining the quality over the years. Keep it up!

We got a few pastries and a toast. Everything was pretty good. My favorite was the baklava croissant.

We stopped by this bakery right before heading into The Mission. FKN are initials of their sons. I didn't know what to expect when I walked in. From the outside, I thought it was bigger but it's a cute tiny little grab and go place. Each of the pastries are on display. Then I noticed this bakery specializes in everything sourdough which is my least favorite bread. We got ham and cheese sourdough croissant and chocolate sourdough croissant. Even though I'm not a fan of sourdough, it wasn't tastable in the ham and cheese but very noticeable in the dark chocolate croissant. Had the sour salty flavor. It's a matter of preference and sourdough is just not for me. I also wished they could have offered to heat it up. Instead it was cold and hard. They sell fresh baked loaves and we were told they sell out quickly.

When I was finally able to order, I ordered two different coffees because I wasn't sure what I was going to like given the coffee shop states all of their syrups are made in house. I think that's why the coffee didn't have any flavor and I didn't like it. The staff was nice enough to remake my drink, but even the second drink tasted like it didn't have any syrup in it and tasted like a regular latte. There is very limited seating inside of the coffee shop, merch is $30+ and you should be prepared for long waits.

The drink I ordered was made incorrectly and did not match what was advertised (they added chamoy throughout the drink instead of just on the rim). They remade the drink, but then attempted to charge me AGAIN for the corrected version, despite the mistake being entirely on their end. At that point, I declined and said I didn't want it anymore. What happened next was beyond unacceptable -- the employee gave BOTH drinks to the next customer, including the one I had already drank from. That is a blatant health and sanitation violation. There is no scenario where a used drink should ever be re-served to another customer. This goes far beyond a simple mistake. Between trying to double charge and re-serving a contaminated drink, this reflects extremely poor training, lack of oversight, and disregard for basic hygiene standards. I will not be returning, and I strongly question how this location handles food safety behind the counter. Management needs to address this immediately.

That's because my daughter was treating me for my birthday and had thoroughly researched the loveliest tea house she could find in the area. And it was, except for the bees. Beware being sent to the back patio area, instead of the enclosed patio area, if you have a phobia or allergy to bees. There was a singular citronella candle right by us, so we only had to shoo them away 5 or 6 times. A waiter had also suggested we avoid ordering honey, as it attract bees. Maybe that's why we saw other diners being relentlessly attacked, muffling shrieks, trying to maintain a calm conversation while several bees crawled over their jam and china. I heard a man beside me say that he was afraid of knocking over his tea pot with all the swatting he was doing. That was the opposite of what you come to a tea house for and the owner or owners really need to address it. Other than all that ... the actual afternoon tea we were served was great. We ordered the Mission Tea: scone, soup or salad, finger sandwiches and dessert. We are tea aficionados, so we have high expectations, and they know what they are doing. The teas themselves were smooth and flavorful. My daughter ordered a rose tea and I ordered a strawberry kiwi. We both felt they were giving candle - but in a smooth, aromatic, non offensive way. My daughter likes her tiers and was a little sad and surprised that we weren't served our tea on one. Certainly would have made service faster, to not need our courses served one after another. It didn't help that we felt a bit forgotten at times. Despite there being open tables inside where there was screening, we had been sent to the very last table in the outdoors. Amongst several empty tables there was a large party already there. Two other women showed up who pointed at us to be served before them, but the waiter waved them off. But, we enjoyed our conversation so much, it was okay to wait until another waiter finally came to serve us. Eventually, as it got closer to closing, the patio filled up - with people, attracting more and more bees. Cute, cute place - even the bathroom was beautifully appointed and clean with pretty wallpaper and classy gold fixtures. Unfortunately, my daughter wasn't in there alone. To her chagrin, a buzzing little critter apparently had to go as well.
