The house itself is over 140 years old, built in 1881, and it was originally a home for one of the early local families. While waiting for a table, we can walk through what used to be a real home, with sofas, desks, and even room-like spaces. Dining here feels like eating inside a historic house, almost like going back to life more than a hundred years ago. Besides the delicious food, what makes this place truly special is how much of the original character has been preserved. Even the restroom has a vintage style, and I've heard it's nearly 90 years old. Coming here is not just about eating -- it feels like living in a piece of history.

Ambience is great, you can sit by the kitchen which is fine because you a nice view of the trains rolling by, or sometime, I would like to sit up on the porch and look out on Los Rios Street. Everywhere is nice as it's all outdoor seating. The advantage of going on a weekday is you don't have to pay the fixed $45 breakfast/lunch price, you can just order whatever you want off the menu. And usually for us, one dish for each and maybe a dessert to split. The beignets, which we had for dessert, are good but they weren't as good as I remember them from times past-hot out of the fryer, but still a little bit doughy inside. Creme anglaise and caramel on the plate. Anyway, this is a very solid spot and always has been, and for good reason it's one of the best restaurants in SJC. The menu changes now and then, but not in a major way. Items are added or dropped now and then, but I haven't seen a whole lot of major changes over the last few years.

We stopped by on a Friday morning to grab a few donuts, and the experience was great from the start. The workers were fun, energetic, and super helpful. Nice clean and modern shop with a wall of donuts We couldn't decide what to order, but another customer told us we *had* to try the apple fritter and wow, they were right. That apple fritter was SO good, fresh, warm, perfectly soft, and not overly sweet. Honestly, perfection. We grabbed a few other donuts too, and while most were great, one tasted like it may have been sitting out a bit longer and wasn't nearly as good. So my advice: go early and get them fresh because that's when these donuts really shine. If you're in the area and craving fresh donuts, definitely check them out!

Food: 2/5 There was a case filled with pastries and I decided to try the beef and potato as it looked popular based on its limited supply. There were no prices available so I assumed, the size it was, that the total would be around $7. However, this pastry was almost $14! I was disappointed by the price and lack of flavor inside. The pastry was buttery but not as flaky as I'd hoped for. Service: 3/5 Walking into the bakery I was glad to be welcomed inside and asked if I had any questions by a young lady. After deciding what I wanted to order I waited in line. The older gentleman at the register was not as friendly. I felt rushed when I was ordering and it felt as if he didn't want to be there. Ambiance: 3/5 The interior is very limited in space, especially when trying to line up to order. There were no tables available or space to wait for your take out order. Overall: 3/5 Overall the prices and service were disappointing to say the least.

All the ingredients are grown on the farm and also sourced from other local farms. You order in front and then find your spot. The set up has a rustic charm that makes one feel you are in a truly special place - a regenerative farm that is mission-driven and both for and by community. Now for the food... it was so fresh and delicious. I loved how there was just a glass water bottle on the table so you could serve your self. The subtle flavors of each dish allowed the ingredients to shine. So I had fresh-baked pastries that weren't too sweet (and some were even gluten-free!), a unique salad brassica and grains, a tasty tostada named Huevos Campesino Peace Bean Tostada, and a simple farm fruit and granola bowl. The whole experience was delightful and as they have a seasonal menu, I can't wait to go back and try new things. After lunch, I walked around to see people working on the farm, a Peace Dome where I've read they have events, retired chickens Luna and Henny Penny, and of course the farm stand.

I ordered the matcha latte hot and it reminded me of the matcha in Japan. It's not sweet at all. The milk options included almond and oat milk, but they did not have soy milk, which is what I normally order with matcha. They also had multiple persimmon flavored pastries. My husband and I ordered a cookie to share. I had never had tahini in a cookie before. It had a nutty, kinda peanut butter cookie vibe, but not as good. I'm glad I tried it though. Service is fast casual and we got our food pretty quick, and then our drinks came out a little after the food. We ended up walking around the farm grounds with our drinks after we finished our breakfast
