I am loving the new winter specials menu at Broken Yolk Cafe. I personally love it here. The service and food are always fantastic. The menu is insane and has literally something for everyone!

Croissant Breakfast Sandwich with hashbrowns

I visit my Mom often in So. Cal and this is one of our favorite breakfast spots near her house - it's reliable and consistently good. The service team here is always gracious and check on you frequently to make sure your beverages are topped off and you have all that you need. This visit I had the Breakfast Croissant sandwich with hasbrowns - crispy just the way I like them - they don't cheat you on bacon either - - my mom had the Californian omelette with one of their beautiful fluffy biscuits and a side of bacon. This place is lively and pretty busy most of the time - so you won't be alone - but it still feels cozy. I also highly recommend the club sandwich if you ever stop by and want lunch.

Arrived to pick up a to go order and the line was out the door. Note, there is no signage on where to pick up to go orders. With only one hostess in sight, I joined the line - at no point did any additional employees greet guests and direct them or provide any information ; everyone was quite confused. There was an order sitting on a counter that I looked at - it was similar to mine but not the same. Actually my 11 year old observed this before I even did. When we finally reach the front of the line there was a lot of confusion from the hostess and a manager and finally, they acknowledge that they gave out my order already and would remake it. No offer of a comp card or apology or timeline provided by hostess. The food came out 5 minutes later, but unusually cold. My daughter was confused how her eggs were so so cold, and again confused at the tiny portion of fruit. Also, now ravenous, we were extremely disappointed they hadn't included utensils to eat with. When we saw the order come up to the counter we had approached the staff and asked "is that for marissa", he made a weird noise at us, but otherwise did not engage in any further forms of communication. I have been in the food industry for two decades and do not understand why this location is consistently so poorly managed and inefficient, each time has been such a disappointment.

Service was great on top of good food. I had the 2 option choice egg Benedict's and it was on point. Food came out about 10-15 mins after and they were catching up at 10am, ihop/denny's interior similar although spacier and high ceiling! Worth the buck

Great food, service was wonderful very clean dining room. Good coffee and juice. The fruit in the parfait was fresh and the rancheros skillet had a good kick.

This was my second visit to Broken Yolk Cafe, and, much like the first, it was... just okay. The cafe itself has a laid-back, friendly vibe, with plenty of seating and natural light - definitely a comfortable spot if you want to relax over coffee and linger for a while. Their menu is expansive, with options that cover just about any breakfast craving: pancakes, waffles, burritos, Benedicts, and more. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak, a classic choice. It came with two perfectly cooked over-easy eggs, but the steak itself was a bit on the oily side. Overall, the meal was fine, portions were reasonable. my order came with hash browns and an English muffin. Photo - https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQ&select=ghwgzbhC7QvSnlKa--NaCg AR ordered the Two Eggs Breakfast Special, and she seemed to enjoy it. Her order came with a side of fruit and a biscuit. Photo - https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQ&select=yWyVV4D_OcuPrtumE9u60Q Two Coffees - https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQ&select=Dvl0OTeCTvwk6-BZLX95aA Our order: Two Eggs ($13) Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs ($18) Coffee ($4 x2 =$8) Total: $42 (+tip) The service was friendly and attentive, and we didn't have to wait long for our food since the cafe wasn't too busy. Our server checked in on us a few times, striking a good balance without being intrusive, which we appreciated. If you're in the area and in the mood for a relaxed breakfast or brunch, Broken Yolk is worth a stop. Prices are "so-so" - our breakfast for two came to just over $50, which feels a bit steep but seems to be the going rate these days. Portions are fair, and the inviting ambiance definitely enhances the experience. While there were some minor food quality issues, it's still a solid spot for a casual meal. Just a heads-up: if you're sensitive to salt or oil, some dishes might be a touch on the heavier side. - Big Aloha! Food: 3 Ambiance: 3 Service: 4 Value: 3

Mimosa & Bloody Mary

The ladies at the front were so awesome. Very friendly, happy and helpful. The food was just ok got two eggs over med which were cooked good but was given the wrong toast from what I ordered but didn't want to wait for new. Home potatoes were not great. The Bloody Mary was also all tomatoe juice and warm. Keep trying diff broken yolk locations and I think it's just not my jam for a mediocre breakfast up-charged. Space was open and clean which was nice.

Breakfast burrito made incorrectly.

If I could put zero stars I would. I ordered a cali breakfast burrito through takeout that is $18 and included bacon inside it; what I received had no bacon what so ever. I paid $18 for an egg burrito ? That's silly. I tried calling for over 20 minutes no answer what so ever; their voice box was also full so now I have no option but this. I'm going in tomorrow morning - if I'm ignored I will be contacting corporate immediately. This is ridiculous that you aren't answering your calls or your voicemails. I demand a refund for this mockery of a breakfast burrito and terrible customer service. I fully expected better from this chain - if someone would have simply answered the phone this could have been resolved easily.

Final update: made it back to try again. We got seated and then greeted by our server. From this point on, things were just average at best. Still will not go back. First, for some one who doesn't do carbs or at least tried to not eat a lot of carbs- omelettes are a great way to go. They have a lot of versions and "Make you own" but just as before they're not omelettes. They're folded fried eggs with ingredients dropped in the crease. Large tacos with egg as a shell. Not good. I went with an average breakfast sandwich. $15.50 for two thin small slices of bacon. Bland eggs and barely toasted bread. Got fruit as the side- 3 slices of melons and a single strawberry. Most places will have a variety and enough to eat. We were served juice glasses for water again and waited for 5+ minutes to get a refill. Table next to us, again, were served large glasses. Doesn't make any sense. My wife said it very well- this is a greasy diner playing dress up as nice breakfast stop. It's not for me. I want good service and good food for these prices. Won't be back and I suggest you don't go back. Denny's serves just as good of food (if not better) and gives better service.

Choose 2 eggs Benedict: Golden State Benedict & Caprese Benedict The Mom Omelet
Parastou P.

My mom and I went for breakfast here and it was lovely. She had coffee and the mom omelette and I had the choose two eggs Benedict option. I'm super indecisive so getting to choose between two eggs Benedict was definitely the best of the two worlds. The eggs were cooked perfectly and I really enjoyed it. I didn't try my mom's omelette but she said the onions were undercooked. But honestly that being the only flaw is not bad at all. Service was phenomenal, she was very sweet and checked in on us often. We'll definitely be back! Such a good place!

The French Toast with seasonal fruit, Oso Creek Persimmon Salad with Ahi Tuna, Oso Creek Rueben with house made chips and the crème brûlée were very delicious. They poach the eggs perfectly for the prosciutto Benedict but they can be heavy handed on the hollandaise sauce. I'm surprised they don't make cappuccino or lattes. We originally found it through Yelp and saw people raving about the homemade food and it absolutely lived up to the reviews. I ordered the Denver omelet and it was excellent. The eggs were perfectly airy and creamy without being runny. The flavor was simple but spot on and the avocado paired really well with it. Nothing felt off or overdone. We also tried a few other dishes at the table. The chilaquiles were fantastic. The tortilla chips had a great crunch and were not soggy at all. Even though they looked heavily sauced in pictures the ratio was actually perfect. Enough salsa for flavor while still keeping the chips crispy. The salsa itself was very good and the egg on top was perfectly runny and yolky which was a big plus. The version with added cheese was also great. Service really stood out. One of our friends asked for no cheese on their chilaquiles and it accidentally came out with cheese. The staff handled it so kindly. They took it back immediately and as an apology one of the owners or cooks came out personally and brought us complimentary pancakes. That small gesture really showed how much they care. The owners were incredibly sweet and kept checking in asking if everything was good and sharing how much care and time they put into making everything homemade. You could genuinely feel that passion. Huge props to Forest Cafe. I would absolutely recommend it. A great little brunch and breakfast spot and definitely a place we will be coming back to.
