Nice menu, great service, great ambiance! Tonight was not our first visit, been here at least half a dozen times, but realized I hadn't reviewed Eureka yet! (Wish I had taken more photos!) Enjoyed our meal last night with Hannah as our server - super friendly and took great care of us. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the fresh air - but weren't cold despite it being a chilly night. Hannah provided great guidance on menu items and was super enjoyable to chat with. Hubby had a Eureka Sour (yum!) and I tried the Liquid Light Sauvignon Blanc (also yum!) - both of which Hannah recommended. (Hannah - I'm going to buy a bottle of my own today!) Hubby had the double smash burger and I had the Napa chicken sandwich. We both enjoyed our food and the overall experience a lot. We've sat inside and out on their huge patio, and we've enjoyed both. I really like Eureka as a chain. This is the 5th one I have visited. I popped in for cocktails with some friends, and it looks like a large-ish Eureka. I expect the food to be good, like it is at all the other ones I have been to. I'm so glad I gave this Eureka! location another shot -- the service this time was amazing. This time, everything felt different in the best way. I wish I remembered the name of the gentleman who served us -- he was such a sweetheart. It was a rainy day, and since we sat on the patio with our fur baby, he made sure we were comfortable, even offering to turn on the heater and bringing out a water bowl for our dog. My husband and I shared the Wild Child cocktail (still my favorite!), and split the bone marrow burger and wings. The burger was rich and flavorful, and yes -- I upgraded to truffle fries, which are always worth it. Love getting food from Eureka! I usually order pickup via DoorDash and it has never failed to deliver. The food quality is consistent and it's helpful they are open late. It's nearly impossible to find anything not fast food open past 9pm in Aliso. Even McDonalds closes before midnight! And I would pick Eureka anything over eating unhealthy junk food past 10pm. Not everyone works a 9-5 cake job ya know. The seared salmon platter I ordered recently was absolutely delicious. Loved the string beans and ripped potatoes too. The accompaniments really made the salmon taste great and filling by giving contrasting texture and flavors. Very well executed especially knowing I usually hate ordering something that can otherwise so easily resemble hospital food. But this? I wouldn't mind eating every night. I visited eureka on a Sunday early evening for a family dinner. Parking was easy with a lot right by the restaurant. There were some other customers dining, but it wasn't too busy. We had our son's 2nd birthday celebration here, a small-ish gathering of 13 folks. The manager at Eureka, Loren, did a fantastic job of accommodating our party. We told him that our toddler is a "runner," and he seated us on the enclosed patio that helped corral our lil guy. Patio is awesome, even in cold weather as they have heat lamps and a beautiful fireplace in the middle. Husband and I checked the place out a week before and had ourselves a little date night at the bar - the ambience and low lighting makes for a super chill atmosphere. I've been to Eureka! a couple of times at their Fresno location, but this was my first visit to the Aliso Viejo spot since it opened. It was just as I remembered--great food and a laid-back atmosphere. I called around 5 PM on a Sunday to see if we could make a reservation for our party of seven, but they only accept reservations up to two hours in advance. Luckily, it wasn't busy, and we were seated right away. We chose to sit inside, though the patio looked inviting--something to try next time. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals, from the fish and chips to the burgers, wraps, and salads--everything was fresh and well-prepared. The only downside was the limited drink options for kids. Since mine don't drink soda, the choices were pretty much just lemonade and orange juice. There were mocktails available, but those didn't really appeal to them. The cocktail my boyfriend order was amazing, the presentation was wonderful for the whiskey cocktail. For dinner, we had a burger, salmon, and pork belly. The pork belly was still a little tough, so not exactly pork belly that melts in your mouth. There is a sweet glaze that compliments the fattiness. The Fresno Fig burger I ordered had a perfect combination of flavors, it reminded me of a charcuterie board. We had the salmon, but it was too salty and the sides did not balance it out. We ordered the Napa chicken sandwich as recommended by the manager and it was better. It's like an elevated BLT sandwich. Kylie was really prompt with checking in with us after we received our appetizer and entrees. When we had an issue with the salty salmon, the manager was not defensive about replacing it. When a few co-workers and I had a long work day we were looking for something that brought good vibes, was open later (11pm-12 am), offered a late night happy hour, and a mix of menu choices. As we settled in, it seemed pretty clear to us that this is a spot several people frequent, particularly in the late night. It was busy! Food & Drink The late night happy hour is a win and definitely worth the visit. A couple of old fashioned cocktails and a couple of beers, the team was enjoying it. The food was not disappointing either. Nachos, burgers, fish tacos, ahi tuna salad, spicy fried chicken sandwich, everyone was quite happy. In fact, the very next day a couple of us went back a bit earlier and had a similar positive experience. The best thing I can say about Eureka is that they stay open late. It features a large bar with a lot of bottles that are lit up, but its selection of premium spirits is so bad that it does not even qualify as a bar. They had no high end vodka and their excuse was that they were primarily a whiskey bar. I ordered my go-to Scotch, Johnny Walker Black, and they did not have that either. The food: I ordered a smash burger that was good but not great, and a small Caesar salad that was very good. However, the menu was very small with a poor selection for non- red meat eaters. I've driven past Eureka in Aliso Viejo more times than I can count. It always looked promising. Clean, buzzy, the kind of place that seems like it knows what it's doing. On a warm Thursday night in June, we finally stopped in. Parked right out front. Greeted by a cheerful hostess and seated immediately at a high-top facing the patio. There was a duo out there playing Irish folk tunes. They weren't bad. The kind of thing that gives the night a little texture. The space was well-designed, big but comfortable. Our server was attentive and on point. So far, everything was clicking. We started with the shishito peppers. Fifteen dollars for about ten, deep fried to the point of no return. All crunch, no nuance. My wife ordered the ahi salad. She always orders the salad. I went for the double smash burger, thinking it was a safe bet. Then the wheels came off. The salad was lifeless. A forgettable pile of greens with tired seared tuna, thrown together without a second thought. She picked at it. The burger? Somehow both dry and greasy, with no seasoning, no char, no soul. Just meat on a bun, cooked without care. I finished it out of stubbornness, not satisfaction. It's frustrating, really. The place had potential. The vibe, the service, the setting, it all worked. But the food, the only thing that truly matters, just didn't show up. You can't charge a premium for peppers and botch your burger and salad. Those are the fundamentals. We wanted to like it.
