Sunday afternoon and I gave Mom the choice to choose the spot to ear at. Since she lives in the area, I figures she'd know any hot spots that may have opened recently to partake of. Well...she decidee on Dennys. Not really my first thought or choice, but I was more skeptical because of the reviews, but I hate driving around for food, so I told her it was cool. And cool it was-like the inside. Kind of drafty, and it wasnt a really cold day outside! I wore my heavy sweater wrap most of the time I was there. At least we were seated at a clean table. One side of the restaurant was tore up--dishes all over the tables, but we were swept to the left side, which had quite a few patrons. I was wonderinf at first what Id eat, but I decidee to go with the old standby, the Grand Slam and satisfy my recent desire for pancakes. Also ordered bacon, sausage links and loaded hashbrowns which come.witj onions, peppers, and cheese. I completely forgot what Mom ordered, but when it came, the waitress flipped the dish on the tray and had to get it remade! My pancakes were fine-- nice a fluffy as HUGE!!! I barely made away with them, but the bacon was half cooked. So I was asked that I wanted crispy bacon....well definetly dont want half cooked bacon so I guess so!! When it came back, it was much better and they gave me more than two slices both times as well, but the other problem--my hashbrowns only had onions in them. I like onions, but I wanted them with cheese, so they had to be sent back too. My Mom also thought she was suppose to get some kind of bread with her entree, which by the time they brought it, she was finished eatinv most of her meal-- and she is a sloooow eater. I did appreciate the young lady waiting on us keeping a smile on her face and checking on us to make sure we were satisfied with our meal or needes anything. She was sweet and were patient people, but the loud talking and cursing in the kitchen isjust the reason why I wouldnt come back. We were seated right by the kitchen window, which has no glass. If I would have known, I may have requested a different table, but it wasnt that many to choose from on that side of the restaurant since the other side was a mess. If youre patient and not in a rush, then this is an okay stop, but there are so many more options in Brenham now. They have to do better--especially since they're not near the freeway feeder. read more

I went here late at night with my partner and the service was good. Our server was very polite and the food was delicious. I'm not sure if it was because we were both very hungry after not eating much all day or because this location just does things right, but whenever we went it was the best dennys I had ever had and I would definitely recommend others go to this location. read more

Denny's is not haute cuisine, but you know... they do a damned consistent breakfast 24 hours a day. Because of that, they have my vote every time. I usually get the Grand Slam (or some version of it) or the Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs. No matter where I am in the country, I always get the same fine breakfast I got in every other one of their chain stores. We walked in and there were only a few other tables and it took the waiter thirty minutes just to bring us our drinks since thirty minutes has passed the restaurant has gotten busy and we've asked other waiters to take our order and both waiters said they would tell our waiter we were ready and another thirty minutes has passed our waiter has helped newly seated tables and not ours. Kaelene is a true jewel! We were a table of 4 she took our order, never wrote it down, repeated it perfectly and delivered it to our table within minutes and it was picture perfect! We visited our her Jamaican family, school goals and future plans after college. She was a pleasure to spend dinner with and we will for sure always ask for her! read more

THIS happened @2951 state Hwy.36 south Brenham,TX. 77833 We where here on vacation stayed at the hotel behind Denny's went in for something to eat the service was so bad you would not believe, the food was the same. chicken fried stake mash. brocci dinner with side salad the salad was the only thing worth eating .... brocci was cold mash where so watery and cold told them to keep it. told them at register they aced like so what!!!!! SO waited tell we came home and called to talk with manager. was told she went to bank she would call when she came back. that was at about 9:00 am. no one had back @3:30 pm. so called back was told the manager would be told tomorrow because she did not come back from bank........ Consistently good breakfast. Not GREAT, but consistently good. I love my eggs over medium, and bacon crispy, and they seem to be able to do that pretty well. I haven't experienced the bad service Paul mentioned, and have found the staff here to be generally friendly and efficient. Sometimes I just like breakfast for lunch or supper, and I can always count on Denny's to do that at a reasonable price. I like the "build your own" Slam, and I often order 2 eggs over medium, sourdough toast, crispy bacon, and crispy bacon. :) When I'm trying to behave a little better, I substitute one of the "bacons" for a bowl of fruit, and it has been pretty good fruit. read more

I'd give this place no stars if possible. We were quickly seated only for our server to disappear. Finally had to flag another server to get ours. Our order came out wrong. Had to flag server down again....and they weren't even busy. Finally had to just walk up to the counter to get our bill and a to go box because the sever never came back. read more

Surprisingly good. Stopped here on the morning of New Year's Eve to meet a friend for breakfast while driving back home to Austin. Truth be told, it's standard chain food. But the order was cooked correctly and the service was excellent. I was excited to eat breakfast here during a recent trip as I was staying at a hotel next door. I ordered a simple plate: two fried eggs, a biscuit with sausage gravy and hash browns. The gravy that came out was just cream gravy. I asked the waitress if the sausage was on the bottom. She said no...it's the wrong gravy. Came back with gravy with a sausage link cut up and thrown on top...four little pieces. That was a smarty pants thing to do. The gravy itself was lumpy and thick and also looked like it had cheese in it. Was not s good breakfast at all. Disappointed in such a simple meal. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. The host Alisa was extremely rude and neglectful. After walking in and waiting for someone to acknowledge us and others waiting to be seated, the couple in front of us finally went and got someone to assist them , then Alisa walked away again ignoring customers waiting to be seated and customers waiting to pay their bill. read more

Holly, our waitress, was the only person my husband and I noticed that was actually working. The "manager" Jose was very very rude to the customers and Holly. There were a several tables, both small and big parties. Holly was the only waitress there waiting on all of the tables. Two younger teens and manager did NOT bother to help her out in any way. While another table confronted the manager, Jose, asking why they were not helping out Holly, he got offensive and asked the table to leave in a very very rude and childish way. Very poor customer service in his part. He does not deserve the position he has. read more

I happen to like Dennie's , apparently hey only run the Ac in each portion of the restraunt every 15 minutes , it can get quite hot. Wife hates the place, it's mediocre at best, but I like cheap biscuits and gravy. Overall not bad but certainly not good. read more

I like a good breakfast experience. However, this place is pretty nasty. The last time I was there, the wall and table were covered with small insects from dried syrup. I'd been there many times- I started asking for no eggs- they're nasty. Something I'd expect from my childhood summer camp days. The turkey bacon tastes pretty gross. I make it all the time at home... No wonder people think it's horrible in comparison to pig bacon! I doubt they've ever had GOOD turkey bacon. Bad service. Slow to refills. First fail was a year ago, bad food, missing items, etc. Shame on you. Second fail, today, pasty, bad tasting gravy, meat we couldn't identify, small burnt portions of hash browns and missing items. Oh my, where do I even start with this review... Well, first off, it was a Saturday night and they seemingly had one server working, and let's just say she was about as good at her job as she was at her dental care habits, which is not super great. So after getting our drink order completely wrong and then laughing it off and blaming it on the fact that she had a whole 2 other tables, she took our order. Now, I've had some bad food at some bad restaurants, but I've never had ranch dressing that tasted like lemon juice mixed with miracle whip, until I ate at this Denny's. It's late and I'm too tired to further expound upon this atrocity of an establishment, but if you're in Brenham, TX late at night and want a bite to eat, do yourself a favor and eat literally anywhere else. Denny's home of the Grand Slam, the big papa of breakfasts. No way you could mess it up. It's eggs, meat, toast, and pancakes. Well this particular location can and will. We were coming back from Houston and the Fam NEEDED to eat. With three hangry women you stop when and where they say. They wanted Denny's which was great with me. We stopped and things went South. We were greeted by, let's call her Beulah (name changed to protect the inept and deplorable) , she sat us at a table then forgot about us. After 15 mins. I flagged her down and asked if we could get a waiter. She let us know that she was our waitress (JOY) and that she was depressed as she just got back from the funeral of a friend. It was WAY after ten PM, but ok I'm sorry for your loss? The only problem is when I went to the front to request another waiter, Beulah was in a booth enjoying a milkshake. The manager told me that Beulah (let's just call her she) would be right with us. We all order the exact $4 Grand Slam, which apparently was merely a suggestion because we all got different versions of a Grand Slam, with no pancakes. We had to have a debate with she and the cook that Grand Slams come with pancakes. We get our bill and it's almost $50 for 4 $4 Grand Slams and a coffee ?!?!? Stay clear of this place. Now i usually dont write reviews, good or bad but upon reading the previous post, i cant stop my self. I visit this location often and recently things have impoved at night as per service, management and food wise. On this particular day, which my peer listed above is mentioning, i was present and witness that the restaurant was pretty busy. With two servers and a young man who is a new manager. As me and my husband entered, we were notified by the server and manager about the wait time and it was fairly quick that we receivwd the food. Also the manager himself came to our table and i noticed went to others to check on us. I highly appreciated his manner. I dont understand why the lady gave them a bad review even thou she got a discount as well. I guess some people u just can't please. And to the new manager, i say you just keep on doing your best.
