Chicken fried steak with fried okra and fries; a single pancake with a fried okra side order.

Great place for breakfast and lunch....food offerings are many and tasty. Chicken fried steak with fried okra and fries is my favorite - it can be ordered with any two sides. Fried okra is cooked to perfection. My wife likes the pancake. The service is exceptional and the place has friendly ambiance. The "sweets" vitrine is inviting but can't eat sweet stuff. Bathrooms are clean. Parking is ok. Suggest using GPS if first time visit.

My friend and I came to Smitty's on a Tuesday afternoon, it was busy but starting to thin out as we dined. It was seat yourself service, but it took us quite a while to receive service or even some kind of recognition (about 15-20 minutes). Our server was an older white woman who was seemingly passive aggressive our entire interaction. It was just strange to see her treat her other tables, who were literally right next to us, with better customer service.... The food was good but I didn't like how the prices were redacted from the menu, and you weren't made aware until it was time to pay. We paid about $43 total (without tip) for one Chicken Fried Steak Plate and one French Toast plate. I would like to say that we were pretty pleasant and polite but our server obviously felt some kind of way about us/me. The other server was really nice though!! If you're not looking for this place you will drive right by it. Awesome place to slow down and get some home cooked food! Food is amazing and breakfast is served till 3pm. I'm not a breakfast person and my kids made me taste theirs and it was delicious! Kids get a cookie with their meal.

This cute cafe and bakery creates delicious comfort food and delicious baked goods. 5/5 The charming interior makes you feel right at home with a large bar and tables and chairs. 5/5 As you enter, make sure to grab a menu and cutlery on the stand before you sit. Friendly staff, food is served on baking sheets, and reasonable prices.

Small town Cafe with scrumptious belly fillin' country food. Quaint and cute with friendly service. Crazy eggs are awesome. Their biscuits are amazing. Great little cafe.

Eggs, sausage, crispy hash browns, a biscuit with gravy.

The food was amazing! The service was great. The ambiance was perfect for breakfast. I recommend ordering the toast with your breakfast. The eggs were cooked to perfection. I waitress, Shelly, was great. I think she's the owner.

This unassuming renovation of an old gas station is a pleasant surprise if you're in Brendan. The servers are great--friendly, efficient, and sassy, with funny t shirts. But...the food is what really shines. Whoever is back in the kitchen working that fryer really knows their stuff. The fried stuff was perfect--piping hot, crispy, but not greasy. My side salad was gorgeous, and as impressive as entree salads I've had. My "Chicken strips" were more like 2 full breast fillets, and were delicious (even the one I didn't get to for 12 hours!). My companion's chicken fried steak was excellent, he said, as were the perfectly cooked green beans. But...the onion rings!!! To die for. Huge. Crispy. Perfection. I'm just glad this cafe is 100 miles from my home--otherwise I'd be back way too often to this Fried Heaven.

And now I am getting attacked by these people..

The most revolting place I have ever been to! The food was terrible. We waited about an hour to get our food. Others that go there after us got their food before us..We paid and left the food there! Bad Service!!

At least 7 out of the 11 people eating grabbed the Chicken Fried Steak Wednesday Special!

When this wonderful restaurant was downtown Brenham, we were there at least 2 Sundays a month. They moved to their 290 location and have given their customers a larger dining area, they do not disappoint. Many must haves on their menu, however the Chicken Fried Steak any-day (Or Wednesdays) is hands down the best next to making it at home! Wish the 290 Had a full bar, however that won't keep this family from enjoying the wonderful food!

Sign is a little faint and way up high!

    This place is closed. Right?

It actually isn't. They just reopened in their new (& actual original) location on HWY 290 West, just past the bowling alley. 4355 US HWY 290 West - Brenham.

The first place I went to just gave me a bad vibe so I jumped back on Yelp and found El Charro T...so glad I did. They were packed inside and on the huge deck outside but I found a seat inside and was quickly brought fresh made chips and maybe the best salsa I've ever tasted...I went through two bowls. The owner (I think) came by to check on me twice. Everyone was very nice and the service was on point. I had the Chili Relleno and it was served in some of that wonderful salsa and covered in cheese. It was really big and extremely good as were the beans, rice and guacamole...all obviously made from scratch and very fresh. I can't wait to go back.

Great friendly service, cute interior, great lunch specials @ even greater prices. Uhhh, what's not to like. Let's talk about the salsa for a second... this is where the rubber hits the road at any Mexican restaurant. And this salsa has off road tires driving straight to flavortown. Served warm, fresh chop onion & cilantro sprinkled on top. So good Everything I tried was excellent. If you're headed through Brenham, at least stop in & try the salsa & fajita nachos! You won't be sorry you did. And this is a one location place, mom & pop. The best \( °o° )/

I have never come across a restaurant that had the most bland food. I seriously think they forgot to add in spices. My chicken tortilla soup was so sad and bland I put a ton of salt and pepper. Just to season the soup. The kids meal was Macc and cheese which was "Kraft Mac and cheese , and the grilled shrimp was just grilled without season. Overall, the food needs a lot of work.

The ambience was about right for what they were going for, with a saloon-like feel. The staff were generally friendly. The music and TVs weren't too loud. Not bad there. Now... I ordered the Seafood Fettuccine, which had shrimp, crawfish and andouille sausage in a seafood type sauce. Kind of a cross between fettuccine alfredo and pastalaya, if you get my drift. The seafood, pasta and sausage were all cooked generally fine. What surprised me was how bland the dish was. The whole dish generally needed salt, (which I applied, and it did help) and it was screaming for some personality, in the form of Cajun seasoning, Louisiana hot sauce, or probably both. I guess if any cream was added to the sauce, it really diluted the flavor. The garlic bread that they served with it did the best it could to help. Keep in mind, I'm paying $30.58 for this project and a glass of sweet tea. On top of that, my debit card gets charged for another table by mistake. My waitress did apologize and reversed the payment, so that I would keep the money. I mean...it was good enough to get me to eat here the first time. But I'd be hard-pressed if it convinced me to eat here a second time, even if for a steak. With food prices getting higher and higher these days, I have to get pretty choosy about where I go for restaurants. This one...IDK.
