We walked into the restaurant on Saturday night at 10:00pm and all of the employees were huddled together talking. One of them looked at us and said to the others "your turn". One of the group pointed to a section and told us to sit anywhere and then went back to talking to the others. Note I am giving a 5 star review because every time I go in this restaurant the wait staff is amazing and the food comes out fresh and well presented. I have never had a bad experience with service OR food. That said, today I had a very disheartening experience. As usual my waitress was awesome and the food was great but as I was eating I and pretty much everyone in the restaurant was witness to a manager that admonished and belittled his waitstaff for all to hear over stupid little nitpicky things. Like napkins left on plates. Ugh. Even with this bullying the staff never missed a beat and was wonderful. I think that manager needs to rethink his management strategies or maybe find another line of work. I was not able to get his name but he was the male manager on duty at 9 am Sunday 01/11. Don't bother coming here on a weekend between 9:30 AM and 1 PM. The parking situation is absolutely atrocious. They could at least pave the empty field to the side of the parking lot ; people park on both sides of the fire lane on the north edge of the property creating a bottleneck ; And then you get into the restaurant and have to wait and wait for a table and then you order your food and you have to wait 45 minutes for a cold stack nine grain pancakes that has absolutely no flavor at all and they're so cold that the butter on top doesn't melt; And then your waitress forgets part of your order and states that someone else must've taken it out of the window with no effort to place a second order of the same product; the sign states that their maximum capacity has 152 people..... I seriously hope they never reach capacity as The fire marshal will have to come out and address the issue. A very unprofessional looking manager, tending to the register, wearing simply a rather unkempt, baggy T-shirt, and loose fitting jeans. Giving 5 stars for our wonderful waitress, Terronda, she was so sweet, kind and overall amazing. She did a spectacular job serving! Ensured we had everything we needed. Towards the end it got a little busy and her coworker seemed rude and said to Terronda "this side is yours now, because I gotta go" there are nicer ways to say that. And keep in mind Terronda already had (from what I could see) 5-6 other tables. I hope Terronda's coworker is able to fix her attitude whether it was a good day or a bad day. Ordered curbside pickup... arrived at the restaurant, found no designated curbside parking spots. But found parking right outside the front door. Waited 10 minutes.., no one brought my food out, called this location multiple times... took another 15 minutes for anyone to answer the phone.... Was told by an employee to come inside and get it... I explained to the employee that I order curbside and was not appropriately dressed to enter the restaurant. She told me well then you'll just have to wait and hung up the phone. Sunday afternoon and I gave Mom the choice to choose the spot to ear at. Since she lives in the area, I figures she'd know any hot spots that may have opened recently to partake of. Well...she decidee on Dennys. Not really my first thought or choice, but I was more skeptical because of the reviews, but I hate driving around for food, so I told her it was cool. And cool it was-like the inside. Kind of drafty, and it wasnt a really cold day outside! I wore my heavy sweater wrap most of the time I was there. At least we were seated at a clean table. One side of the restaurant was tore up--dishes all over the tables, but we were swept to the left side, which had quite a few patrons. I was wonderinf at first what Id eat, but I decidee to go with the old standby, the Grand Slam and satisfy my recent desire for pancakes. Also ordered bacon, sausage links and loaded hashbrowns which come.witj onions, peppers, and cheese. I completely forgot what Mom ordered, but when it came, the waitress flipped the dish on the tray and had to get it remade! My pancakes were fine-- nice a fluffy as HUGE!!! I barely made away with them, but the bacon was half cooked. So I was asked that I wanted crispy bacon....well definetly dont want half cooked bacon so I guess so!! When it came back, it was much better and they gave me more than two slices both times as well, but the other problem--my hashbrowns only had onions in them. I like onions, but I wanted them with cheese, so they had to be sent back too. My Mom also thought she was suppose to get some kind of bread with her entree, which by the time they brought it, she was finished eatinv most of her meal-- and she is a sloooow eater. I did appreciate the young lady waiting on us keeping a smile on her face and checking on us to make sure we were satisfied with our meal or needes anything. She was sweet and were patient people, but the loud talking and cursing in the kitchen isjust the reason why I wouldnt come back. We were seated right by the kitchen window, which has no glass. If I would have known, I may have requested a different table, but it wasnt that many to choose from on that side of the restaurant since the other side was a mess. If youre patient and not in a rush, then this is an okay stop, but there are so many more options in Brenham now. They have to do better--especially since they're not near the freeway feeder. read more
