One side is like a candy/ice cream store and the other is a restaurant. The candy store is one that has old timey candy that I remember eating as a kid. I ordered three Hotsy Totsy sandwiches togo. When I got home the sandwiches did not have avocados on them. When I called to address this with the staff the first person I talked to asked me if I had asked for avocados. I told him "No because the menu clearly says avocados are included with the sandwich." He then told me they could not issue me any sort of refund or credit on my next visit. When I asked to speak to the manager she told me the same thing. Absolutely no effort was made to make their mistake right! This will be my family's last visit to this restaurant. Terrible customer service! read more

I got the "spicy crispy" sandwich after a blue bell fun run. The area was extremely overcrowded with finished runners looking for a meal, and this was a little less busy than the other options (which is how we ended up here.) Walking in, it seemed like a weird atmosphere. The walls are dark and it has two parts that have a totally different ambiance. It wasn't bad though, just different! It kind of reminded me of an old arcade due to the lettering and random decorations. The sandwich was pretty good! I think the bread and chipotle sauce is what made it so delicious, as the wilted lettuce (from the heat of the sandwich) and the chicken itself was subpar. The sandwich came with salt and pepper chips, which were not my favorite, but it was nice it came with a side. My friends got pizza, and, unfortunately, thought that although it was good enough to eat it wasn't really worth the price. They compared it to the pizza you would get from an arcade. The truffle fries came out cold, unfortunately. The carne asada fries were really good though! The service was really good though! The food came out in a good amount of time and they were really helpful in bringing random sauces as we needed. This place was an interesting find! We stopped here for lunch, just passing through. My guy wanted soup, so we were glad to spot this place, with the sign outside advertising, "Pizza Soup Sandwich." We got inside, stood at the front counter to order, but couldn't find any soup on the menu. I asked the sullen-looking woman behind the counter if they had soup, and she looked at me like I was stupid, like I'd asked for something hopelessly exotic. "No, no soup." "Then you might want to change that sign outside that mentions SOUP, several times." Her wordless response...well, I'll just say I doubt there will be any sign changes. We ordered a couple of sandwiches, but I committed the terrible sin of asking that my crispy chicken be served on any type of bread except for brioche, which I dislike. She looked exasperated and whined, "But I already put it in!" (To her computer) By now, I was getting annoyed. I told her, with a touch of sarcasm, "Maybe there's a human in the kitchen, and you could just *tell* them my request...you know, like, *verbally*. Now she really hated me, and told me there would be an extra charge for the swap. By now, I was in full sarcasm mode and said, "Oh my GOD, an extra CHARGE?!!" She didn't add the extra charge, probably because she'd already "put it in." Our sandwiches were good, and my crispy chicken was on Texas Toast, as God intended. Nice shop. The food is tasty and was able to accommodate a large group of 26. Since the restaurant takes orders at the counter, it was easy to pay per group. Even with such a large party all the food came out quickly and accurately. It was perfect to have an ice cream shop next door to get a treat after dinner. read more

I desperately wanted to love the food here because this place is just esthetically fun and awesome. Located in the heart of Brehnam and in the quaintest part of Texas.. Such a lovely visit and highly recommend the area. As far as their food goes.. I did not have the best experience. However, I did enjoy their next door dessert which really brighten the experience as far as food goes. Everything closes at around 3 or 4 here on the weekends and then reopens around 5. We were basically here at a weird time so we decided to give this place to try. I ordered a glass of red wine and Ordered their BLT sandwich. I couldn't help but feel that the BLT is something that I could have made in 15 minutes in my own kitchen. Pretty dry and not the greatest. My mom tried their pesto chicken sandwich and the chicken was so dry and rubbery that she couldn't even eat it. Unfortunately even down to the chips that they serve are very peppery and super oily. On a more positive note, we loved the candy/ice cream shop next door. I bought some golden girls inspired mints and a couple of other candies that brought some nostalgia to my day. While I nay have not had the best experience with their food, the desert side of yumm definitely saved the experience! Super fun. read more

Great idea having a stand outside, but unfortunately if you use a credit card you will pay a $2 fee. I offered to buy more figuring there was a minimum however I was told there was a $2 no matter what you bought with your card. Merchant fees aren't that high... read more

In my decades of life on this planet, I have never ordered a shake where the ingredients ended up being ice cream and crushed ice. It was not good. Please rethink your recipe. Also, there was a nice young lady handling the ice cream/candy store by herself, and too many people for her to handle. That was not fair to her to be by herself. read more

My husband and I stopped for lunch today. He ordered Reuben sandwich & I had the BALT - bacon, avocado & tomato on Texas toast. Both sandwiches were hearty & very tasty. My dad and I were passing through Brenham which is where my grandmother lived when I was a child, so it's a very nostalgic place. Downtown is quaint, charming, and thriving. My dad selected Yumm! because he had been before and had a good memory of it. We both ordered "Kayla's Special" which consisted of a grilled cheese sandwich on sourdough bread with provolone, mozzarella, and homemade pesto, homemade tomato bisque, and a drink. The grilled cheese was the star of the dish. The cheese combination was superb and made for a great cheese pull. With the grilled sourdough, it was light and crispy and the pesto was aromatic and herbaceous. I love pesto and am a fan of their homemade version. My least favorite was the bisque. It was just on the border of being too rich. Even with dipping the sandwich into to it didn't lessen the richness. However, the fresh basil garnish cut through it and added a great depth of flavor. I'm still giving 5 stars because the soup was still delicious, and I ate it. read more

The food was great! Loved the pizza! The girls that took the order were great and super sweet! Everything was fine until we went to go get some ice cream and fudge from the sweets section and who ever the lady was behind the counter was extremely rude. Talked to us like we were stupid and made weird faces at us. I don't know if it is because we were younger or she just had a problem but it really made us leave with a bad feeling. To ice the cake I'm 6 months pregnant and hormones are all over the place so her attitude really sucked for someone just trying to take care of her sweet tooth. I hope this issue will be addressed because I really do love the place but do not want to go back if I'm going to be treated like a nuisance. Thank you. read more

Only place we tourists could find open after 5 and before 5:30. We just wanted a place to drop, enjoy a refreshing beverage and check messages. Nice people, larger menu than I expected, many choices of beer and wine, cool and quiet. I got my sandwich to go, and it was every bit as good as it looked. We will be back!! read more

Called in my order they advised I needed to pay cash since their internet was down... no big deal. Arrive and nobody was on the sweets side where I was told to pick up my order so I went to the Eats side and they said I need to pick it up on the other side so the same person that just helped me walks over then proceeds to tell me I need to go back again to the other side since the internet was down. Get back to work with my food and I have a dry chicken salad with over cooked or bad eggs I'm not sure which. Had only a few bites and couldn't eat anymore with the chicken being so dry and chewy. read more

The meat on the carne asada fries tasted bad and then they locked us in and closed 5 hours before the posted time. At least give us a warning before we sit down lol. Super disappointed tonight after driving back to Brenham (from Round Top) specifically to have ice cream at Yumm. This evening, Saturday 3/25/23 at 8:20PM we arrived and found that the store (both the Sweets side and the Eats side) was closed at 8:20pm. This was 40 minutes earlier than the posted closing time. I called the store from the parking lot and we could see the young lady answer the phone. We asked if there was a special reason the store would be closed early and she said sometime like 'because we closed early'. She proceeded to quickly exit the store and walk into a back area while on the phone. I told her I did not understand and asked if a manager was available and she responded 'yes, this is me'. I again asked if the regular closing time was 9 PM as advertised. She put another lady on the phone, who I assume was the manager. I repeated the scenario to her and explain how we had driven in to have dessert at the store, and asked if the posted closing time was incorrect, and/or how we would know in the future if the store was going to be randomly closed early, so we could avoid this in the future. She asked if we were at the entrance for the "sweets" store or for the "eats" store. I told her that we went to both doors (that are approximately 50 feet apart from each other), and they're both closed. The open signs are turned off and we could not enter. She said that that was not acceptable, and the store should be open until 8:45 & that she would speak to the team about it. I did not ask for or receive an explanation for why the door would be closed at 8:45 if they're closing time was 9 PM. We went elsewhere, and likely will not be returning due to the lack of professionalism or courtesy. My friends and I have girl trips to the Round Top / Brenham area approx four times a year for antique shopping and we love staying in Brenham. The shoppers and tourists that come to visit Brenham twice a year for antique week & Marburger bring a lot of tourism dollars to Brenham. I am sure the financials for Yumm reflect increased sales during these times, so the store ownership might want to consider hiring people that actually keep the doors open during posted business hours. read more

Downloaded Yelp just to review this place! We came here for the first time and went to the "Eats" side and it was the best sandwiches we have ever had! Husband got the philly and I got the chicken pesto. The bread was crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside, the chicken perfectly cooked, and really great pesto making for the perfect bite. The Philly was not on the plate long, it was delicious! We also tried the pizza poppers, they had such a nostalgic taste and were so unique and flavorful. The service was so friendly and quick, and the atmosphere was welcoming and trendy. We will definitely be back and feel blessed to live in a town with special spots like this. read more

We hit this place on the way back from a trip to Houston based on guidance from Yelp and we were not disappointed. Pizza was just fantastic. A unique, subtle flavor in the crust... something addictive. I dunno what it was but it only further boosted what was a great, handmade pizza. We had Ceasar salad with it as well and that was top notch. Homemade dressing I'm sure. Very flavorful. I also had a gyro based on another Yelper recommendation and it was perfect! Great flavor, tender meat... everything you want from a gyro. We saw a number of other tables get pizzas that all looked just as good and we also saw a few burgers and sandwiches roll out. They were all darn big and well-built. All smiles from all the tables in there while we were. The candy and ice cream side of the restaurant is cool. The prices aren't outrageous and of course they carry Blue Bell which is no doubt FRESH! This is a good place to stop if you're passing through town. Only about five minutes off the highway to get there. It's in the downtown area which is very clean and nice to visit. read more

It was ok. Nothing special. We ordered to go and can't really rate their overall service, but I did notice it was uncomfortably warm. We went simple and ordered burgers and a Gyro. A cheeseburger and a burger with just mushrooms. My family enjoyed their burgers, but they were not thrilled with the patty, they were just store bought frozen patties. At least that's what they looked and tasted like. As for the Gyro, it was just ok. It was lacking taste. I wasn't even sure I was eating real meat. We will probably skip this place next time. We went here yesterday with 6 adults and 2 teenagers to get some ice cream while in the area. It was a major disappointment. There were two girls working behind the counter. Neither of them had any information on allergens or ingredients of any of their products. That was a little frustrating, but since our allergies aren't life threatening, we were able to still consider some items while searching the internet, so not a big deal and not considered to be their fault. A few ladies in our group are from Germany and are here visiting. We wanted them to try BlueBell and the factory was closed on the weekend. We did not by any means ask for excessive samples. Perhaps two per person. The girl was condescending as she asked, "You haven't ever had Blue Bell before?," and it came out more like a rhetorical or facetious question than a sincere or legitimate one. She was surprised when we answered that indeed, several had not. When I asked if I could try one of the gelato flavors while standing in front of the BlueBell section, she let out an audible sigh/groan so loud that all in our party heard it. Our German guests were really put off by it too. We ignored her attitude and just proceeded to get our ice cream orders finished, but do some teenagers just not want to work these days? You're getting paid to be somewhere and to do a job, and then you treat kind customers (who would have tipped very well) as an inconvenience. It was disappointing and we won't be back. There are a lot of ice cream shops in the area and Dairy Bar was recommended to us. Next time, we'll try there instead. I hope the owners of this place will provide more training to their employees. read more

I've been to Yumm! many times, and whether I get a treat or a meal or both, everyone has been so friendly. Each thing on the menu that I've ordered has been tasty, hot, plenty big and priced well. Went to Yumm for dinner tonight with a friend. Both orders on the same paid ticket. My food came out and no food for friend. We asked the server, the answer was 'I will check on it.' Finally came back several minutes later to say her order was never turned in but they were working on it now. Ten minutes passed and still no food. Finally as we are getting up to leave and get a refund on her food, server comes and says it is ready and do we want it to go. Funny thing, when we got home about 5 minutes later, the food was ice cold and had to be warmed to eat. Come on guys. You can do better than that. Came here for lunch on a Saturday and it was not too crowded. Located on the main street of downtown Brenham, this quaint little place serves up decent food at a good price. It is extremely good for kids as the tables are spaced out nicely and the kid menu is robust. I got the combination pizza for myself and a bowl of mac and cheese for my daughter. All of the kids meals come with a drink and chips. I got her a Coke and it came in the form of a can, not fountain. The pizza was not bad and they even provided ranch at no extra charge. The mac and cheese, however, was very poor. The cheese was runny and it looked like it came from a box. I was able to share my pizza since it was pretty big. Overall, it is a good place for kids and there is the desert shop adjoined next door. Just stay away from the mac and cheese. read more

Stopped in for lunch. This is a very nice space, large, with lots of dark wood but well lit by the big glass windows looking onto the Square. I ordered the Stukie, she had the Greek wrap. After not too long a wait, or food came. I have to say I've never had a panini on a hot dog bun, though it was a really good sandwich. The girly said the Greek wrap was large and tasty. I ordered a personal sized supreme pizza and I was not disappointed. The bottom was perfectly crispy but not overdone. The toppings were fresh and the cheese bountiful and stringy. The lemonade was wonderful as well. It wasn't from the tap and the sugar to lemon juice ratio was great. The store front next door is the sweets side of the business and connected but still separate from the dining area. Came for a day of wildflowers and bluebonnets. Lovely walk of the downtown Brenham area. We loved the look of the ambiance in the restaurant and coffee bar. We ordered the CBR wrap and substituted fries for the fruit cup. First bite of the sandwich was yummy, the second bite had something unchewable, I opened my wrap and pulled out a small piece of uncooked bacon. We're talking hasn't even hit the pan cooked at all, raw. My friend inspected hers and found the same. Our waitress took our sandwiches back to the kitchen and exchanged them for Chicken Caesar wrap. I hope she understood what we tried to tell her about food service safety! The fruit cup was very good and fresh. I'll grab coffee here but will pass on the food. read more

First time in Brenham with my wife. We were looking for a place to have lunch and we're attracted to the ambiance at Yumm! So we decided to try it out. The food was ok but the staff was not very friendly or helpful. At times it seemed like they were not happy because they had to be at work. Also, I ordered a side salad with dressing for 4 dollars. It came out in a paper French fry boat and the dressing came on the side in a small plastic cup that was about 1/4 way full. I politely went to the counter and asked for more dressing and was told that it would be an additional charge! Seriously?We will not be back. read more
