Service is attentive and with a smile so well done here. The spinach and artichoke dip was unique fresh and very dimmable in terms of melted liquid cheese that I liked. The drinks were great, especially the Manhattan. I'm not taking any points off because I want to support the place and maybe I just need to order something different next time but for $45 it was a pork chop that I couldn't even eat because it was dry and had no flavor so if and when I come back, I'll have to try something else. The grits with the pork chop were the best part of the dish, but it really stung to pay about $45 for that pork chop. My wife enjoyed her salmon. Overall, great atmosphere. Our server was great. We visited The Gathery for breakfast on Saturday, August 1, and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. Lauren was our server. At first, I thought she was the only server working, so I was patient. However, I soon noticed there were other servers on the floor. It still took over 20 minutes before she came to take our order. We ordered the Farmhouse breakfast with biscuits and sausage, a kids' Farmhouse with pancakes, and breakfast tacos. Nearly 45 minutes passed before our food arrived. During that time, my coffee never came, and no one checked on our table. When the food finally arrived, my order was wrong. I received toast instead of biscuits and bacon instead of sausage. Lauren apologized and said she would bring the correct items, but they didn't arrive until we had already finished eating. To make matters worse, when I asked to speak with the manager, no manager could be found. I understand that restaurants can get busy, and I'm usually very patient. What was most frustrating wasn't just the wait, but the lack of communication, urgency, and basic customer service throughout the meal. It's unfortunate because The Gathery is a small business that I'd like to support, but experiences like this make it difficult to return. Based on this visit, I won't be coming back, and I can't recommend it to others. I hope management addresses these issues because the food has potential, but the service fell far short. read more

I went to The Gathery for a private birthday party. We were in a separate room that was just beautifully decorated! Plenty of seating, lovely charcuterie platters, and the table was set old-school style! The waitstaff were on top of everything and made sure the dinner came off without a hitch. Our options were Filet mignon or a pasta with chicken. I opted for the filet. It was perfectly cooked & tasted amazing! There was also some silky smooth potatoes, and broccolini. For dessert, we had a choice of carrot cake or flourless chocolate cake. Both were big servings and looked good! This was a great venue for an intimate gathering! The idea of dinner in a small town became practical. Walked around checking out a restaurant or 2. This restaurant had a rustic feel to it and was one of the restaurants recommended to us. The decoration was pleasant and the place was quite big. After checking out the menu, we decided to try the place. Ordered a salad and a pasta dish with salmon. Although the food was delicious, there were some hiccups with the order. The menu states that the salad had pomegranates and there weren't any. I pointed that out and it looked like there was one menu with pomegranates and one without. Anyhow, the waitress told me they didn't have pomegranates after I checked in with her. She asked if blueberries would be OK. I agreed. Blueberries were fresh and went well with salad. Second thing was that the pasta menu wasn't very clear. Luckily the waitress clarified that if one ordered the pasta dish with artichokes, olives, garlic etc, one didn't need to choose a sauce. Ordered that but it came with a pomodoro sauce although the menu didn't say so. It was a confusing pasta menu. We just let that go since it tasted fine and I was satisfied with the salmon. The portion was huge and enough for 2. It's a great thing to have delicious food in this small town. I think the restaurant has good potential but recommend improving on the menu. Food was good. It's a No, Dawg! Dont bother wasting your time. None of the pictures on here were even on the dinner menu....not that that matters since we waited 15 minutes and no one ever waited on us after waiting several minutes to be seated. I came here to eat breakfast for my birthday yesterday March 18, 2026 ordered a breakfast bowl, biscuit and gravy, pancakes, and left a 20% tip since they make you pay before you are served.... I can tell why now and let me start by saying I hate to be picky or negative and never write reviews but I paid $55 only to find a hair in my sour biscuit and gravy dish and a piece of blue plastic cooked into my one of pancakes. I didn't want to say anything to the staff because I didn't want a to ask for a refund since I had already eaten most of the food when I found the hair and plastic and quite frankly I wouldn't have wanted the food replaced either, so I walked out and left but I hope you'll look twice at your food should you choose to eat here. read more

It is a cute little upscale, coffee shop style restaurant. It is a bit pricey. But our food was good. This was the first time we had ever been in there. We were up there for county fair and decided to stop in with our family before they left town. I have the turkey avocado club, which impressed me with the amount of avocado. They actually put on it. They did not skimp and I appreciate that! My husband had the black and bleu burger and he was satisfied. The hand cut fries were decent as well. I thought the serving size was great. The lemon lavender cookie was really good and I had a chocolate chip cookie that had a ton of chocolate chips and I thought was amazing. It's a self serve water and coffee at the bar. You don't really have a waitress per se you order when you enter at the counter and then they will give you a number and bring your food out to you. But that's really the only time you'll see a waitress. They do also have a coffee bar that has ice cream, etc. They don't have fountain drinks, but there is a cooler with some random cans and bottles beverages. There is a wine selection. Service, food, customer service . We arrived at 6:30 with reservations that were made days in advance. In addition, we submitted our orders in advance. We are only in time for a brief time and it took 3 hours to get our food and most was overcooked or under seasoned. I've eaten at The Gathery many times. It is consistently the best food we have in Bellville. And, the pastry chef is par excellence! Oh my goodness, the very finest pastries in Texas... And, I love the coffee here... not sure what bean they are using, but oh my goodness, the Americano is also the best anywhere around. Love this place. I've met the owners, and they are so passionate about the food & experience. I highly recommend it. They can be a bit slow, but savor the eclectic decor and don't go if you are in a big hurry... but, it is 99.9% of the time worth the wait. What a gorgeous cafe! My husband and I stopped in for a quick bite but since we had only two minutes before lunch closed, we tried nearly everything on the menu! Stopped in for the first time at this place. Parking easy right in front, very clean. When you walk in you get a menu and are told to walk up to order and then take a seat. You pick up a drink out of a cold cooler on the way we got the sweet tea. They have self serve water and coffee as well. Restrooms were clean the staff was nice. This seemed to be a Town favorite as there was a line the entire time we were there but at no point did we see a long wait. They also had some nice office over stuffed chairs and charging stations people appeared to be working while they ate. read more
