Found a really cute spot tucked away in Round Top. You walk in through this green courtyard with fire pits and chairs and it kind of forces you to slow down for a second before going inside which I actually loved. Just felt calm right away. Inside is super open with really tall ceilings. There's a small bar upstairs they call a speakeasy... it's not really hidden since you can see it from downstairs, but it's still a nice little vibe. Drinks were really good too. They stay pretty busy, but service didn't miss a beat. Food came out looking good and actually tasted just as good. Always a win. Only thing is when it gets packed, it does get pretty loud, especially upstairs at the bar. So just something to keep in mind depending on the vibe you're going for. And honestly, the fire pits outside were probably my favorite part. Perfect spot to sit and hang out for a bit. If you're in Round Top, it's definitely worth checking out. read more

There's a large family-friendly dining room, a cool speakeasy- style upstairs cocktail bar, a retail shop, wine cellar, cheese counter, and even a pizza oven. A wide selection of options, sure to meet the needs of any group. While there, we saw a large multi-generational family, a bachelorette group, several couples and some girlfriends all enjoying food and drinks. The building itself is beautiful, with high lofted ceilings, suspended glass lamps, an interior design scheme in the upstairs bar definitely worth sharing on social media. Since we arrived in the late afternoon, we opted to sit upstairs at the bar, overlooking the main dining room, for a few cocktails. I was a fairly hungry, not having had lunch and also ordered the grain bowl. This dish was good but not quite what I was expecting. I would consider it to be more of a salad, largely comprised of arugula tossed in quinoa, than a hearty grain bowl. For drinks, we got a couple of espresso martinis ($18) and these were excellent. Hand-shaken, not overly sweet, and beautifully garnished with an anise seed. Overall, Boon & Co was a great stop. What a beautiful and charming restaurant in Round Top! First, they have plenty of parking on the side and the back, love that! When you walk in you find yourself in a combination of farm style restaurant with stunning decor and a cute boutique and general store vibe section. We got seated immediately and ordered our drinks and food. We started with an order of pines frites and bacon wrapped dates with cheese My drink was the lychee martini and it was so delicious and fresh, a little on the sweet side but for me it was perfect. My food was the palazzo pasta and added wild caught salmon, I like it. It had too much pepper for my taste but still ok. My friends ordered the chicken salad, wedge salad and salmon, scholtskys sandwich and salad with shrimp. Enjoyed this lunch spot & shop meeting a friend from out of town! This is a perfect midway point between austin and houston. The vibes were very cutesy and service was great! We came right at 11 when it opened and were greeted and seated quickly. We ended up sharing a sandwich and fries and it was the perfect portioned split lunch. Awful customer service from the moment we arrived. The manager--the gentleman wearing glasses and a black chef coat--made snarky comments to our group about being late. We had actually called ahead to let the restaurant know we were running behind and left a voicemail, but were later told their phones had been down. Once seated, it took 20 minutes just to get our drink orders--and we were only ordering iced teas, Cokes, and a few specialty drinks. A table next to us that arrived at the same time received both their drinks and their food before we even received our drinks. We completely understand that restaurants get busy and things happen, but the manager's attitude combined with the extremely slow service made the experience especially frustrating. A little understanding and basic courtesy would have gone a long way. read more

This restaurant-and-retail store is hot and newish on the Round Top scene. We dropped in during the antique fair for an 11am lunch to beat the crowds - and so glad we did because at one point they ran out of menus. We started with truffle fries, tuna tartare. The fries were the favorite of our dining experience. I don't rec the tuna tartare; nor do I rec the tortilla soup. It didn't have much flavor or any spice. The best I could do was doctor it up with salt and pepper. My mom and sis split the burger - and they really enjoyed it. The pros are that it's a large restaurant, has a wine and coffee bar, offers a lot of opps to shop while you dine, and the food comes out fast. They've also got a robust wine list. Pizzas seem to be popular, especially since they have a large (and beautiful) pizza oven. I wish they offered gluten-free pizza crust or gluten-free bread for the sandwiches. read more

I am still in disbelief at the horrible experience my friend and I had yesterday (Sunday) at Boon & Company. I have been coming to Round top for years and had been dying to try this place, so my friend and I decided to finally go our day trip to the fall antiques show for a late lunch. My friend's family friend from Africa was visiting Texas for the first time and we wanted to show her a unique and fun experience. Round Top is always a good time with smiles and amazing memories - but this put a dark cloud over it. We got sat within 5 min of arriving, the hostess was lovely. It was almost 3pm. The place itself is beautiful and we were excited to buy the pimento cheese and some other fun things they have for sale in their market area after our meal. Once sat, our waiter came with waters and asked us for our drink order. He gave us recs and everything was great up to that point. Then he left, and we never saw him or another waiter until our food came. The order was wrong- i ordered the Vittoria pizza that has pears, and they brought the Rafaella. We also thought they had our pasta wrong - we ordered the lemon pesto which does not state it comes with vegetables. The second pasta on the menu did however describe julienned vegetables in it - the exact vegetables this one they brought us had in it. But they continued to insist that was the lemon pesto pasta we ordered, so we said ok and began to eat. The pasta was severely overcooked, mushy even, and the sauce was not coating all the noodles. There was a big chunk of noodles stuck together with no sauce, and it did not taste of lemon at all. Truly one of the worst pasta dishes I have had in a long time. My pizza finally arrived - undercooked and pale compared to my friend's charred and golden brown crust on her "Don" pizza that came out with the original order. Really sad considering they have that beautiful oven to cook with. The bacon wrapped dates were ok. The drinks and fries were very good, thankfully. A true pity the food wasn't good because the service is absolutely terrible, so really there is nothing I recommend about this place except for maybe the cute market. No one came back around to check on us or ask if our food was ok. We wanted another cocktail and no one ever came to ask us. Our waters were empty and never got refilled. We were completely ghosted for 20+ minutes, until our waiter came back and just said "you ready for another drink?".... We had clearly stopped eating and had been looking around for a waiter for the last 20 minutes so we could tell someone about the pasta being inedible, our drinks are completely empty and NOW you ask us? We told him we did want one before but now we have to leave. I started explaining to him about the pasta, and how disappointed we were that he completely forgot about us. He started literally patting my back and said "that's fine," moving his body away from me trying to leave the conversation while I was in mid sentence. I asked him "hold on, are you're saying that bad service is fine with you?" And he said "yes, that's fine." As he continued to pat my back. Why is he touching me? Needless to say, our jaws were on the floor. We couldn't believe it. I asked for the manager and his name. Of course he wouldn't tell me, so I said that's no problem I'm sure your manager can tell me. The manager came and I told him what happened, and he seemed apologetic. We finally asked for the bill but he comped it, which was the right thing to do. Our waiters name (assuming he was telling me the truth) is AUGUSTINE. A very RUDE person that should not be working in the SERVICE industry. What a shame. I wish I could tell you at least the food was delicious. It wasn't. Maybe go for the fries and drink if you're desperate? I read other reviews and I am not the first person to point out horrible service and waiters ghosting them. To the owner: reassess your staff. Because of Augustine's bad character, you lost out on a $250+ bill. I won't be back and I will be telling everyone I possibly can to stay far away from this place. read more

Love this cute new spot in Round Top! I've been eagerly watching the building the last couple years and was so glad it's finally open. It's a gourmet grocer, sandwich/salad spot, boutique and (soon-to-be) bar. The interior design is impeccable in a charming french country style with unique pops of wallpaper and color. The staff and owner are so friendly, and the display of goods and foods are eye-catching and unique. We stopped in the first day and I had an almond croissant, which they heated for me. Yum. Came in today with a group for lunch and we all loved our food! There was a good crowd inside, but not too loud or packed. My new favorite spot in town! read more

This is a lovely and lively place filled with gourmet produce, a proper pizza oven, and a great place to get a fresh salad before a beautifully stacked sandwich. ...unfortunately we didn't order a salad or sandwich - we opted for the olives and a pizza; didn't work out. The upper level of this open dining room has a hip bar/lounge space with dedicated lighting and a television. The main signing room is open and airy (not a romantic spot though it may feel differently at night) with deli and coffee counters along the perimeter as well as shelf space for gourmet grocery selections. Service was friendly and reasonably attentive. The manager paid us a kind visit to say hello which was very welcoming. My wife ordered a ginger-ale which they didn't have; curious in a place that looked to have a full bar. I ordered a regular black coffee which arrived lukewarm and very weak. Upon the word I was delivered a new cup of coffee that was hot and had the appearance as well as the taste of cheap Kurig coffee. Couldn't drink it. The olives were beautiful in a dish of olive oil and herbs but tasted nothing of olives only of vinegar. Presented in a small dish atop a doily and saucer there was no place to discard the olive pits. With no appetizer plates provided it made for an unappetizing sight when fishing out a new vinegar orb past the carcasses of former olives. The pizza ("The Don") approached unforgivable in an establishment with such an impressive oven. The crust was flavorless except for a slight alkaline flavor as though it had baking soda in it. Sauce was red and otherwise unremarkable. Pepperoni was pepperoni. We didn't finish anything. All the while there were beautiful plates of impressive looking sandwiches and salads going past - guessing that's the reason to visit here. It was very well recommended by many locals and visitors.
