We first came to Social Speakeasy for my cousin's rehearsal dinner last year and had such a great time, we came back to celebrate my engagement with family. The drinks are fantastic--especially the gin cocktails--and the vibe is always on point. So glad it's around the corner from my mom's place... I'll definitely be back whenever I'm in town!

I took my cousin to her first speakeasy bar and turned out to be 1 mile from her old house in Montgomery. She knew this area very well. We drove up and parked right in the front. Walked into the store front and saw the door opened to the bar. Very nice design, blue and red. Gives a burlesque vibe. They have a big menu of food but it was near closing time and we were just getting some drinks. The server told us about their new menu and events throughout the month. Craft cocktails were delicious and strong. I will have to come back and dine when I am visiting the family again.

Aww shoot! We were so optimistic about this place based on the reviews and pictures. The interior is awesome, they really captured the speakeasy vibe. The people working there could not be nicer, from the waiters to the owners, several of whom stop by to chat. But.. We had three drinks- one excellent, one just okay, one returned to be remade. We tried three of their dishes- the charcuterie board, the meatballs, and the filet skewers. The charcuterie board had very old nuts that were inedible and the grapes had seeds. Otherwise it was quite fresh, but with unusually heavy meats. The meatballs mixed with peppers were quite good, but something in the dish was cold, like it had been in the refrigerator. The steak skewers were very good- excellent chimichurri and nicely cooked steak. The tables are low, made for drinking more than eating, and the seating is also more for the speakeasy vibe than dining. The owner reported they had recently hired the sous chef from Tris(!) and are coming up with a new menu and more dining-appropriate seating. Perhaps a visit in a month or two will show some improvements.

Fun speak easy type restaurant/bar in Montgomery, TX. They have a dress code and stick with it. Food was great as well as live music!! We will be back!

The Social Speakeasy is amazing. We have been trying to get over there & finally had a night we could visit. We love the cool, moody atmosphere & the decor. It's very relaxed & fun. The staff - from the owners to the waitress to the bartender to the Chef - were exceptional. Very friendly & knowledgeable. They were absolutely on point with their recommendations & so helpful. The food was delicious & flavorful. We had the feta appetizer with naan bread. It was so creamy & matched the crispy naan bread perfectly. My husband & I both had the sea bass entree. It was fantastic! I wanted to eat it all up, but wanted to take my time to savor it at the same time. The fish was incredibly fresh & delicate with a wonderful crispy top. The curry rice with coconut milk sauce was the perfect addition to the delicate flavor of the fish. Adding the lime broccolini gave it a wonderful crunch & brightness. We tried two desserts - the chocolate mousse & the lavender crème brûlée. Both were delicious. The brûlée was very light with just the right amount of lavender balanced with vanilla. The mousse was smooth & creamy with excellent dark chocolate richness. My husband had The Compromise & a Manhattan to drink. Both were excellent. The Compromise was extremely unique & very good. I had the Watermelon-Basil martini & the Cucumber martini made with Grey Goose vodka instead of gin. Both were light & refreshing, too. They have a very good selection of liquor & wine with some unique cocktails. We will definitely be back! Everyone in the area should go visit. You won't be disappointed.

Starting with the unexpected - the food is amazing! I mean high end restaurant amazing, in a speakeasy! We had the Chilean seabass which had an unexpected fusion of lime, coconut and curry that was excellent. The offer Chef Austin's Chef and Rancher ( former Tris chef) beef in the filet steak. The bar tender made outstanding drinks ( martinis, Manhattan and a drink called "the compromise"). The waitstaff was attentive and professional. We were warmly greased by the owners. We had live jazz music on our Friday night visit after dinner. Great vibe that we've been looking for in this area for a while. Definitely will be back.

Everything was awesome. We went on a Thursday so we were able to get by with our attire a lil more lax. The service, drinks, and setting was picture perfect!

Hidden gem in Montgomery. Great ambience, amazing bar with a great selection of bourbon, whiskey and spirits. Live music on Friday night was great. Pat working the door was very nice and inviting. Definitely will be back from Los Angeles.

BBQ Brisket Flatbread

We LOVE the social speakeasy! A true cocktail-focused gem in our Montgomery neighborhood. We've been many times and the drinks are great of course, but this review will be specifically for the food as they need more reviews on it; it's fantastic! So if you're looking for details and photos on what to eat here - let this be a guide. Something worth mentioning is this family of owners started out in catering. So while this place has a primary focus on their cocktails, they absolutely know what they're doing in the kitchen. The menu here is "bites & shareables", so the approach is very much "tapas" style. For 3 people, we ended up ordering 5 dishes and it was the perfect size. Everything was delicious, but I'll rank them in order of our favorites from top #1 to #5. #1 Margherita Flatbread - this was my personal favorite, but came in at #2 for the rest of my party. It comes with 6 slices, a side salad (great surprise because the salad isn't listed on the menu), and a few small little piles of salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes for you to customize your bite - my husband loved that small but impactful touch! The sauce on this was incredible, it made me want to order a second one. The sun dried tomatoes really made it unique. 100% will order again. #2 Classic Cubano (Cuban sandwich) - this was #1 in the hearts of the rest of my table and it was hard to put in second place because it is delicious. We asked for it to be cut in thirds to share and they obliged no problem - small act on their part, but much appreciated by us. Comes with some really puffy fries - another fun surprise that wasn't on the menu. The mustard on this sandwich is perfect and the crunch you want in this sandwich is spot on. #3 BBQ Brisket Flatbread - this menu item I saw the most people ordering (both in person and online), so I felt we had to try. Really glad we did, it was delicious. Loaded with brisket but still had a crunchy crust. Seems all flatbreads come with the side salad and little accoutrements of salt, pepper, and red pepper. Really love that extra little detail, given they keep condiments off their tables to preserve the speakeasy vibe. #4 Prosciutto & Fig Bruschetta - delicious and classic "charcuterie" flavor profile. Can't really go wrong. Presentation is unexpected - in a good way. We thought this would be presented as small little toasts, but actually came out with three large pieces of thick and chewy bread. Perfect for 3 people all to have a large slice. #5 Crispy Peruvian Shrimp - comes in last but only because the top 4 were above and beyond. The shrimp in this dish come fried with 8-10 pieces served with a dipping sauce and a mountain of coleslaw. Smaller portion of shrimp than I predicted but much larger portion of cole slaw than I predicted. Cole slaw was delicious that we were eating it by itself! Would probably order this again but sharing between 2 people instead of 3. All in all the food here is outstanding and I don't know why it took us so long to order it. We loved the attention to detail and the addition of a "side" that came with each dish for two main reasons. 1) It shows us they were really thinking about what would round out or pair well with these dishes, and 2) it was great to have some veggies included to balance out all the carbs we opted to order. We will 1000% be back to eat (and drink) many more times. The family who runs this place is incredibly kind and truly puts heart into this place to make it special. They treat their staff and patrons alike as friends and family, and we always leave having felt like we were special. Thanks to The Social for carving out a truly unique and special spot in Montgomery!

The Tuesday steak night is INSANELY good! $30 for a beautiful steak, mashed potatoes, salad and glass of wine. Incredible atmosphere, great music, and perfect drinks. Tyler is a great server/bartender.

I ate at Norigami Tuesday night and it was great as were the cocktails served up at the nextdoor bar called Hidden Bar. On Tuesday, I tried the Thai Chili Ginger Margarita ($13) and it was great, complete with a hunk of candied ginger which I "gingerly" consumed throughout my drink experience...see what I did there? Next, I had the Three Dots and a Daiquiri ($13) with Rum, Lime, Velvet Falernum, All Spice and Pineapple and it was very similar to one of my favorite tiki drinks, the Three Dots and a Dash, complete with 3 luxardo cherries. To finish, I had the absolutely incredible Golden Laurel ($16) with Gin, Italicus Bergamot, House Greek Botanical Bitters and Sea Salt. It is equally beautiful served with a clear bay leaf and delicious. Last night, I was guided by the friendly bartender to try the Et Tu Banana" ($15) with Banana Bourbon, Spiced Pear, Creme de Banane, Campari and Citric Acid. I was a little worried about the cocktail being overly banana-y but it wasn't at all. It was a fantastic drink. For my last call, he recommended the Left Hand ($13) with Bourbon, Campari, Sweet Vermouth and Chocolate Bitters. Again, fantastic. Both nights, the bartenders and drinks were fantastic. Ambiance is nice with moody lighting. They even have a bidet toilet seat in the bathroom! Hidden Bar is a "hidden" gem, for sure. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

We were lucky enough to find seats, but it was so crowded we could barely talk without yelling, and we were basically shoulder-to-shoulder with the people around us Other than that, it's a really nice spot to grab drinks, hang out with friends, and get some cute content. We entered to a friendly staff who sat us immediately. The vibe is very modern with some Mexican influence. We were with another couple and I think they were under the impression that this would be Tex-Mex, but it is not. For drinks I got a Mezcalina, my wife got a normal margarita normally I don't love Mezcal, but was feeling adventurous and this drink did not disappoint, it exploded with flavor and was my favorite drink I have had here. The bar program might be the best of any restaurant in the area, as it should be since they have a speakeasy as well. In my previous trip they brought us complimentary chips and salsa, but the time they brought Mexican hummus and pita. I was initially disappointed, but this was one of the more unique complimentary dishes I have had, and loved it. For starters, we got the TOSTADA CHUTORO, which was a tostada with raw fish and caviar. There were two, and although smaller bites to share, the flavor once again really shined through. I would say this is similar to a ceviche dish with really fresh fish and bright flavors.

The lighting is dark, intimate, and behind every level and door, there is something else going on. There is an element of discovery in every corner and a new adventure on every floor. Ever watch the movie Tron? There are some areas of BCD that feel incredibly futuristic with neon-lit interiors and a legitimate sci-fi feel in some areas. The areas are ass follows: The main bar with a DJ and a spacious dance floor, the red room with a visualizer setup of big bass and pulsating lights, the gold room with a speakeasy feel and a curated cocktail menu, with the secret room that is a unique space behind a certain set of doors. Most of the music on the main bar is good, the DJs are energetic, and the bartenders are efficient while professional. It's not the easiest place to photograph anything, but the different (hidden) spaces make it a worthy destination for discovery. The one area that I don't love is that they rock automatic gratuity. I do love how diverse the crowd is on the weekends, which is a testament to the city. Drinks are solid, but the speakeasy drinks are the ones that stand out the most. The latter definitely comes at a price, but beware that some drinks may have all the presence but not enough of the substance. __________ My photos: https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/behind-closed-doors-houston?userid=ysCBsXWPB-LAiewVS3jZfQ

What a mistake I waited so long to make! This place did not disappoint. We started with the fondue, and wow... rich, creamy, and served piping hot like molten cheese lava in a proper fondue pot. The toasted French bread cubes were perfectly dunkable, and that cheese has more pull than the President. It's pure cheesy happiness in a pot--seriously, the cure for any bad mood. The beet carpaccio was another standout: beautifully thin slices drizzled with sweet fig balsamic, topped with goat cheese crumbles and fresh microgreens. Even the beet skeptics at our table went back for seconds. Next came the strawberry goat cheese salad, and I'm officially a convert. I used to avoid fruit on salads, but this one changed my mind completely. Sweet strawberries, creamy goat cheese, and crisp greens in perfect balance. I'm already planning my next visit with grilled salmon on top. For mains we shared the chicken paillard--light, bright with lemon, and paired with dreamy whipped mashed potatoes--and the steak frites. The steak was tender and juicy, but let's be honest... those frites stole the show. Fresh-cut, double-fried, perfectly crispy and salty. I could have eaten an endless basket of them. Absolute drool-worthy. We finished the night with sharing a plate of beignets. Warm, fluffy and dusted with powdered sugar. The service was phenomenal, especially for a large group. Our server never missed a beat, and the whole team was warm and attentive. The drink menu is excellent too--great selection of beers, wines, and creative cocktails. The Napoleon was our table favorite by far. Petite Suzette has officially earned a new set of regulars. We'll be back later this week, and I can't wait to try even more.
