Such beautiful cocktails.

Lulu's is a must try when in Round Top. The building and decor is beautiful. The bar is outstanding. The bar glasses, menu and cocktails are primo. Everyone always raves about how heavy and beautifully etched the glassware is. The food is fantastic for the town in which it is located, but average if it were located in the city. There are hits and misses but you do not leave hungry. I enjoy the patio when it is cooler outside. It is covered and first come, first serve. The staff are always kind and happy. Sometimes the service is slow at times.

Made reservations about 2 months in advance for the Spring Show! Did not disappoint! We got the calamari, bolognese, and the cacio e pepe. All around great service, great food, and amazing ambience!

Hadn't been here in over a year. They freshened the menu, the food. , drinks and beverages were excellent. Loved sitting in the main dining room. Friendly staff. Had the salad, waygu burger and parmesian fries Desserts are delicious.

Super cute vibes that fit the town, with meh ok food. We loved the place, picture perfect, romantic, fun vibes! The waiter was funny and nice, but the food was just meh and price was definitely up there We got the bread service and had to ask for a new batch, it was so dry Then we had the cacio e Pepe and it seriously lacked of Pepe (pepper!!!!). The prime rib was good but carrots were hard. The Caesar salad was just a piece of lettuce with onions and Parmesan crisp and sauce on it. Honestly super meh, not worth $16. We asked for tiramisu and are still waiting on it so we decided to just let it go. The waiter was nice and offered espresso martini and they were a lot better than my original cocktail so next time I would just go with that. Overall a good dinner because of the place, not the food. We were gonna come back for brunch but decided we won't after this dinner.

Ate here with a friend on Saturday night before the final summer concert (July 12, 2025) at the James Dick Festival Institute. Round Top, Texas has certainly come into its own as a culturally influenced area with fine restaurants in a beautiful rural setting. Located about 75 miles south east of Austin, you'll find no shortage of places to eat and things to do. I was born in Austin and have been going to La Grange, where my grandparents lived, and Round Top area for many years. And if you've never checked out the Festival Institute, you're missing out on a quality classical music experience. Having studied with Mr. Dick while I was in college., I know it was a defining moment in the development of my work ethic and the person I am today. And the music performed here rivals anywhere. We had a reservation for 5:30 PM , arrived a little early and had no problem being seated immediately. The restaurant is set in an old, rustic, remodeled building, and was probably a home at some point, and has now been refinished into a quaint, beautiful Italian restaurant. The decor is simple, elegant, and refined, with the original wooden flooring refinished and the original stone walls painted white with white table cloths and flowers on every table. Ramon the Manager was very gracious and I could see him throughout the evening eyeing the restaurant to make sure service was excellent and things were running up to par and in fact checked on our table twice. Our server Nelly was obviously well trained, and although young, was professional and provided excellent service. We were both greeted with water and smiles, and I ordered the Italian Margarita cocktail; sweet with generous pour and an orange slice. It was a very good drink. In fact I ordered two. I ordered the Pappardelle Bolognese and my friend, a vegan, ordered the Margherita pizza. The pizza was neither thin crust nor extra thick , with beautiful melted fresh mozzarella on top with a lovely red sauce and a large slice of fresh basil on each piece of pizza. There was a nice char on the edges of the pizza crust. This pizza was just enough for one person. The Pappardelle Bolognese was one of the most elevated Bolognese I have ever eaten anywhere. Living in Austin, there are no shortage of Italian restaurants, and this Bolognese puts them to shame. No ground beef here; braised Black Angus tri-tip cut into small perfectly proportioned pieces. The Pappardelle is fresh-made on site and you can tell the difference. No overwhelming heavy red sauce either, there was a subtle sauce made from the Aus ju of the tri-tip along with some other ingredients, such as olive oil and red peppers, minus the remnants of the peppers. Beautiful. As stated earlier, Ramon checked on us twice, we had a couple of brief conversations, and as we were leaving, he offered to buy us a drink at the bar. The bar also has a quaint back room that is dimly lit and romantic, and the bar itself is a handsome wooden oak masterpiece with an ample selection of alcohol behind it. Instead of asking us what we wanted to drink, Ramon said the bartender likes to experiment and has made his own cocktail. See the photo.. it was stunning; when I asked the bartender what it was called he said he doesn't have a name for it yet. Just show the photo, you won't regret it. The owner, Lulu , also happened to be in the bar and Ramon introduced us to her, and she was very personable and gracious. Lulu explained that she and her husband had bought this property some 30+ years ago, and refurbished it into the beautiful spot it is now. She has obviously ingrained a classy work ethic into the employees, and the food matches this class. This is yet another reason why this is a special place; not only is the food superior, but the employees provide outstanding customer service and the owner is gracious and you are treated like family . I will definitely go back again and again.

Beautiful ambiance and decor. The restaurant is simply stunning. Food, not so much. We got the meatballs appetizer and they tasted exactly like the frozen meatballs I buy in a bag at the grocery store. My husband got the carbonara and it was shameful. Literally tasted like milk, clearly they used cream which isn't needed in a carbonara. The raw egg on top was cooked and just tasted like scrambled egg in milk pasta. I got the bolognese and it was pretty good. They need to step up their food game here and have the food match the gorgeous surroundings. Canceled my breakfast reservations for the following day after eating dinner.

Delicious short rib with mash and the unremarkable (yet pretty) carrots.

Lulu's is a winner. Our welcome to the town of Round Top was handled by a gentleman called Ramon who was extremely accommodating in getting us into our room in the adjacent hotel (also recommend) and welcoming us into the restaurant despite the fact that we were arriving after the posted closing time. The space is beautiful, distressed walls with a separate bar and a split elevation set of dining rooms. Service was prompt, professional, approachable, and proficient. Mocktails were well mixed (thanks Nathan) and arrived in satisfyingly heavy crystalware. Appetizers were a tomato basil soup that was delightfully uncomplicated and comforting (made even better with the addition of some fresh thyme harvested from the table display) and a grilled Caesar salad made with a proper, though slightly vinegar forward, dressing and pickled red onion. Entrees were the pappardelle bolognese and the braised short rib (we traded plates mid meal). The pasta was very nice - al dente and well sauced with fine mince throughout. The short rib was excellent texture, as were the mash potatoes, though the accompanying carrots were waterlogged and had a flavor I couldn't identify and neither of us cared for. Both dishes were good and well portioned. Carefully under-seasoned (no salt and pepper on the table) but very competent in technique. A terrific way to begin the Round Top experience and definitely merits another visit this trip.

My friends and I had the BEST experience at Lulu's. The restaurant itself is so beautifully decorated and the staff were amazing! The food was delicious and drinks were perfect! The staff made our experience even better as they were all fun and friendly.

The ambiance is beautiful. Food is always great. The focaccia bread is so good. Service was a little slow but it was a bit late and staff was dealing with an overly drunk individual that came to our table (3 females). It's a must stop for great food!

Very very happy to report that it was wonderful. Our server was a family member and very conscience and friendly, as was the bartender. We'd consider ourselves "foodies" and we travel a lot and we enjoyed every single thing we got. An espresso martini, a dirty vodka martini, fresh caprese salad, garlic bread, lobster risotto and the shrimp pasta (Diablo?) with a little heat. We took the chocolate truffles to go. I would highly recommend you try them out when you're in Brenham. Ps. We did not have a reservation and they fit us in but they seemed a little busy and this was a Tuesday night so reserve ahead if you can.

It gives everything a cozy, charming feel with a lot of character. Parking, though, can be tricky. It's limited, and if you're wearing heels, the rocky ground and steep hill can make it a bit of a challenge when the lot fills up. We had reservations but arrived a little early, and they were able to seat us without an issue. Service was solid overall. The staff was quick to let us know what items were unavailable, which helped with decision-making. I did notice a dish being served that wasn't on the menu, and when I asked about it, we found out it was a seafood and noodle special. Two of us decided to try it. For food, we started with the sautéed garlic ricotta appetizer, which was a standout. It had a really nice balance of mild sweetness and savory flavor. The eggplant parmesan was huge and easily shareable between two people, with great flavor throughout. Honestly, most of the portions felt big enough to split. I ordered the seafood special, and while the flavor was decent, the shrimp were consistently overcooked and chewy, which made it hard to enjoy. The mussels were the highlight of the dish, though they reminded me of the frozen kind you can heat up at home. Overall, it was an okay experience. Not somewhere I'd go out of my way to recommend, but if it were the only option in town, I'd consider going back.

The music, however, was a little loud for me, and did kill the ambience a bit. I would recommend playing something a little more subtle and instrumental, or go with music like Sinatra and Dean Martin for the romantic feel. The food was pretty good. I ordered the chicken cacciatore and a glass of iced tea. It came with a side of spinach tossed in garlic and olive oil, their house salad and warm bread. I like that they served the chicken with the spinach, because with a lot of restaurants that I've ordered the same dish at, they will just load you up with pasta so they can charge more. Now, I love pasta as much as the next paying customer, but I feel that it takes more bravery to not use pasta as a crutch. The stereotypical idea here in America that native Italians eat pasta with absolutely everything is not necessarily true, because Italian food has a lot to do with balance. Chicken cacciatore is typically a hearty hunter's dish. I think the name even translates into that. If I was to eat pasta with it, my stomach would be hurting by the time I left the restaurant, because it would be too much. Props given for that. The entree itself was tasty. Much reminiscent of what I remember a cacciatore being. The house salad and bread were solid. The staff were also friendly as well. All in all, I would come back here and eat again. Well done!

The second time was with the current owner and the eggplant parmigiana was good but the pasta sampler was very bland. We waited several months to give it another shot as we know things could improve. We ordered fried calamari, supreme pizza and baked Tuscany. They were out of the fried calamari, it happens, but it seems like a reoccurring incident with many items as the waitress told the table behind us they were out of many items. My husband had the pizza and said it was good but the dough was not cooked all the way through and he could barely hold a slice because it was soggy. My pasta was very good, big portion. The bread rolls were probably my favorite part, very good and while they don't give oil with them the Parmesan and pepper flakes on the table were enough. The poor waitress was very overwhelmed with a large crowd tonight, she needs an additional person handling the drinks and check out counter. She did her best but forgot many orders and drink orders and returned to the table to re ask or confirm. My advice to her is to always bring her notepad, take some anxiety medicine, and wear some lavender. The owner/ chef in the kitchen, some advice would to ditch the menu entirely and have daily specials only! Have 6 meals available at all times rotate your dishes and a soup and salad combo always available. Go back to a simpler menu until it's manageable and then you can grow your team and add more options. Your portions are big and food is okay, it will be easier, better, more efficient, and quality will improve when you limit your menu. Overall for decent food, long waits, and an underwhelming place to eat out, give it a shot. Next time I'll be going to the seafood place next door. (P.S. The water has a chlorine taste to it, not sure if this is all of Halletsville but if so the city needs to update its filtration!
