A simple tossed salad followed, crisp and refreshing, just the right lead-in for the main event. And oh, that main course! I ordered the Veal Marsala with veggies, and it was absolutely outstanding -- rich, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Each bite had me smiling, and it was the kind of dish that makes you want to slow down and savor it. The staff here deserves their own round of applause. My server was attentive and kind, and when it came time to pay, the lady at the counter was so friendly it felt like leaving a friend's house after dinner. This little gem has won me over completely. When I pass through Cuero again, there's no question -- I'll be back at La Bella Tavola without a doubt.

To say I was disappointed by my meal here would be an understatement. I had wanted to try La Bella…read moreTavola for several years and finally did this evening. I imagined on Valentine's Day that the atmosphere would be more pleasant but it was completely lifeless inside. There was no music playing and practically no one speaking to each other, making it quite awkward for my friends and I. We started with a very underwhelming Caesar salad, to say it was average would be a lie. We then bit into very obviously frozen mozeralla sticks with no flavor and a rubbery texture. Our pasta dishes were painfully plain, with the lasagna not even being layered, sauce that had no flavor, and an overwhelming amount of rubbery cheese. I understand this is a small town and suppliers likely don't provide the best options. However, I was actually angry when I ordered FOCACCIA and received a French roll cut down the middle and covered in more rubbery cheese. I suppose whoever made the menu has just never had focaccia anywhere else and assumed it means cheesy bread in Italian. Not to mention my server tried to charge me twice for it. If you are looking for somewhere to eat in Cuero do yourself a favor and go to Whataburger, Taqueria Jalisco, or pick up a frozen lasagna from HEB if you are really craving Italian. Quite frankly this was the worst italian food I've ever had, I'm sorry to say.

Stopped by for dinner during a weekend birthday celebration in Burton. I love how many businesses…read morein these small towns are set up in converted homes. It gives everything a cozy, charming feel with a lot of character. Parking, though, can be tricky. It's limited, and if you're wearing heels, the rocky ground and steep hill can make it a bit of a challenge when the lot fills up. We had reservations but arrived a little early, and they were able to seat us without an issue. Service was solid overall. The staff was quick to let us know what items were unavailable, which helped with decision-making. I did notice a dish being served that wasn't on the menu, and when I asked about it, we found out it was a seafood and noodle special. Two of us decided to try it. For food, we started with the sautéed garlic ricotta appetizer, which was a standout. It had a really nice balance of mild sweetness and savory flavor. The eggplant parmesan was huge and easily shareable between two people, with great flavor throughout. Honestly, most of the portions felt big enough to split. I ordered the seafood special, and while the flavor was decent, the shrimp were consistently overcooked and chewy, which made it hard to enjoy. The mussels were the highlight of the dish, though they reminded me of the frozen kind you can heat up at home. Overall, it was an okay experience. Not somewhere I'd go out of my way to recommend, but if it were the only option in town, I'd consider going back.

The Not So Good: Although happy they had a parking lot - wish there was more. The Ugly: The special of the night - seafood over pasta. Noodles were light and delicious, seafood looked fresh but everything was overshadowed by the level of garlic. I love garlic but not when that's all I taste. Such a shame because it had great potential.
