Stopped by for dinner during a weekend birthday celebration in Burton. I love how many businesses in these small towns are set up in converted homes. It gives everything a cozy, charming feel with a lot of character. Parking, though, can be tricky. It's limited, and if you're wearing heels, the rocky ground and steep hill can make it a bit of a challenge when the lot fills up. We had reservations but arrived a little early, and they were able to seat us without an issue. Service was solid overall. The staff was quick to let us know what items were unavailable, which helped with decision-making. I did notice a dish being served that wasn't on the menu, and when I asked about it, we found out it was a seafood and noodle special. Two of us decided to try it. For food, we started with the sautéed garlic ricotta appetizer, which was a standout. It had a really nice balance of mild sweetness and savory flavor. The eggplant parmesan was huge and easily shareable between two people, with great flavor throughout. Honestly, most of the portions felt big enough to split. I ordered the seafood special, and while the flavor was decent, the shrimp were consistently overcooked and chewy, which made it hard to enjoy. The mussels were the highlight of the dish, though they reminded me of the frozen kind you can heat up at home. Overall, it was an okay experience. Not somewhere I'd go out of my way to recommend, but if it were the only option in town, I'd consider going back. read more

The Good: The noods! I love housemade pasta and for me a true test of a real Italian restaurant. I also liked that although the restaurant was a converted home they didn't try to jam as many tables that would fit. There was space to eat, chat and enjoy the ambiance. The Not So Good: Although happy they had a parking lot - wish there was more. The Ugly: The special of the night - seafood over pasta. Noodles were light and delicious, seafood looked fresh but everything was overshadowed by the level of garlic. I love garlic but not when that's all I taste. About what you'd expect for "the best" of what Brenham has to offer. We came here with our pals this past weekend after an afternoon of hiking together, and we were all pretty ravished. The spot itself is a converted house and it's got that cheap-country-charm look inside, but we do have to say that it feels cozy and welcoming. We started with a charcuterie board for the table that was pretty decent and sizable, especially given the high price tag of $35. Nothing out of this world, but the meat and cheeses were there and we appreciated all the little extras. The caesar salad had a killer dressing but way too much of it, so the whole thing ate soggy. Also, bagged croutons? C'mon! The snapper special entree was well done. Nicely cooked fish with sautéed spinach and some grilled veggies (too oily but tasty) instead of the pasta. We also liked the boar pappardelle since it was really flavorful. The lasagna, though, was dry as hell. Maybe that's because (for $25), you got a single slice of it and nothing else, so it looked ridiculous on the plate--no sauce, no veggies, no nothing! Because it was obviously reheated, it needed some more sauce or something else to accompany it. Our friends were happy with their entrees (FYI the crispy potatoes are *really* good!). We actually would have settled on four stars for this place, but that brings us to dessert and service, which is why we are ultimately landing on three stars. Our server was a very sweet young lady, but she already party-fouled when she failed to tell us that they were out of the branzino dish, which two of us had wanted, when she rang off the specials. But then two of us ordered affogatos for dessert and we literally got steaming hot lattes with some flotsam of ice cream floating in them. It was laughable. One of us asked to have hers redone because it was *not* an affogato in any way, shape, or form, but the waitress said that she couldn't redo them because that was the last of the decaf espresso. Did she offer to take them off the bill? No she did not! That's just bad service: if you executed the dish incorrectly and the customer is clearly unhappy, and the dish is uneaten---ahem, undrunk---then take it off the darn bill. Again, we're not disappointed overall because this is pretty much what we were expecting in Brenham, but it could have gone a lot better without the own goals. read more

While staying at an AirBnB in Chappel Hill, we ventured over to Brossa's Cibo e Vino for dinner! The restaurant itself was cute and quaint! I loved that the staff seemed to know so many of the guests and it felt very family oriented. We ordered our food shortly after arrival but ended up waiting a very long time until they eventually came back and said they were out of one of the dishes we ordered and we'd need to adjust the order. We then reordered. The food took an incredibly long time to come out, but it was delicious! I would absolutely go back as all items we ordered were fantastic, but I'd hope the experience would be quicker next time. read more

We just wanted to grab a drink and very glad we stopped here. Because there are 5 of us, we didn't fit at the bar so we asked to sit outside. So cute with tanks holding herbs. This place is fantastic. I drove in from Austin to take my grandma to dinner and found this gem. I will definitely make the trip back to Brenham to visit this restaurant! We had the meatballs, garlic bread, sausage & vodka pasta, chicken parmigiana, and tiramisu. Here are my thoughts: - Meatballs: delicious! I like my meatballs slightly more moist, but this is being not picky since they were still awesome. - Garlic bread: phenomenal. It tasted like it sat on butter and garlic before roasting (in a good way). Wow. This bread is sinful. This is a "must order"! - Sausage & Vodka: Homemade noodles on the thicker side with a perfectly balanced sauce. I half expected a sauce to at was a little overwhelming (as vodka sauces can be), but this surprised me in the best way. It was so good. It's made me a fan of this dish! Tiramisu: Very good, but not my favorite. Don't get me wrong it gets a 4.25/5, but I'm picky. I like my tiramisu to have more moisture (almost like a tres leches, but not quite as wet). Would order it again anyway because the flavors are there, though. Also heard they're experimenting with a cocktail bar--coming soon. I will be back! read more

Met my family here for a Christmas lunch. Hidden in an old house, it's a cute concept. Hubs enjoyed the seafood pasta. I liked the meatballs-very flavorful and good texture. We were disappointed that they had run out of eggplant parmigiana only a little over an hour into lunch service, especially since two of us are gluten sensitive. Glad to find they had GF pasta ($2 extra per plate), but it was very undercooked and too firm. I'm not sure if I should walk into this restaurant again, or if I'm just feeling disrespected and need to take this opportunity to get over it. I'm willing to bargain either way. I just walked into this restaurant for the first time, not knowing whether or not you're supposed to have a reservation for it. I legitimately wanted to try the food there, but I'm pretty sure the employees mistook me for a peasant or a homeless person. I've never had a hostess tell me that she already had a reservation for the table I was seated at, but that it was an hour away, so that should give me enough time to finish and be done. To a 3 year Elite Yelp reviewer. Just because I walked up to the restaurant. I was so insulted, that I couldn't even look at the menu to order anything. I got up from the table after she brought me a glass of water and walked out without a word. Now, if this is the reputation that Brossa's Cibo e Vino wants, I will take this review down. Again, I did not know you needed a reservation to eat here, and I will respond accordingly. But if not, I cannot, in good conscience, endorse this kind of behavior with my patronage. read more

Brossa's was our first stop during our weekend in Brenham-Roundtop and what a cool place this is. Hard to find a better setting for great Italian than in an historic old home, it just serves as a warm setting for a great meal. Since we were a bit in between meals, I opted for something light, ordering the Fagioli soup and we ordered the Arancini (special) for an appetizer for the table. The fried-risotto was amazing. The Arancini comes out in 4 big balls, almost like meatballs. I could make a meal off eating these alone. The Fagioli soup was also delicious, a nice, hearty soup. We had plans to come back and try their meatball dishes, their chicken alfredo, as well as to try their dinner menu, however, we just ran out of time. For our next trip down this way next year, we plan to go back to Brossa's. 4.5 stars read more

It's a cute, little house style restaurant. You don't feel crowded though. The server was nice and readily available. Arancini was yummy but not what we've tried in Italy. The sauce isn't inside at all and comes on the outside that you can dip. We also started with the burrata salad. It doesn't come with bread but you can ask or get the garlic bread on the side dishes. The branzino was a good size. The house made pappardelle noodles have such a nice texture but the dish itself was too oily for me. It was called the Amatriciana. The wagyu meatball sandwich was nice, reminded us of the firehouse meatball sub. The meatball pasta tasted like the sandwich, which is on us since we ordered the same style dish haha I want to try the eggplant next time I go. read more

I really like the lasagna (one of the best I've had) and my dear wife likes the veggie pasta which isn't on the menu. The ambiance is perfect in an old house setting. The service is excellent. We were visiting the area on a baby moon and wanted to have a nicer sit down dinner. We walked in without a reservation, it were lucky enough to snag some bar seats. The bartender was super friendly and took great care of us right away. My husband had an old fashioned, which he said was very well made. You can tell the bartender was putting effort into ensuring his drinks were made and presented well! Onto the food...WOW! Some of the best Italian food I've ever had. We shared some dishes - a salad, pasta, and meatballs. The meatballs were a good size and packed with flavor. The pasta was clearly fresh and had incredible flavor. The salad was a salad, but complimented the meal nicely. The dishes were a bit small for the pricing, but this seemed to be one of the more upscale places in town so I can see why. A friend of us told us about Brossa's and we were visiting from out of town so I made a reservation. Love the atmosphere and the story behind this restaurant. The owner's teenage son actually waited on us. He was so attentive & polite. We had lots of questions and he answered everyone. If he didn't know the answer he went and found the answer without having the attitude that some wait staff get if they perceive you as a difficult table. I have special dietary needs (gluten and soy free) so there's really only a handful of items I could eat at this restaurant and I was so bummed by that because the pastas are all homemade and everything looked so freaking good!! I ended up getting the lobster roll risotto, which was rich and very well done. My husband ordered the Wagyu meatballs and a Caesar salad which he thoroughly enjoyed and for dessert he got the tiramisu. He said it was hands-down the best tiramisu he has ever had in his life. That is his go to dessert. Any restaurant we go to that has it on the menu, he has to order it. The couple we dined with ordered mozzarella cheese, sticks, and garlic bread for the table. I didn't partake of any of that, but it looked wonderful and everyone who did eat it said it was really good. The other couple ordered the boar pasta and the pasta with vodka sauce and they were talking about how good it was over breakfast the next morning. Highly recommend this restaurant. read more

This is a wonderful addition to Brenham's culinary scene. Owner Brian Brossa, is a transplanted Houstonian renowned for his culinary skills. Brian is the former general manager and co-owner of Houston's Enoteca Rossa, where he was in charge of the extraordinary menu and determining which wines made the restaurant's tailored list. I know of no other true white table cloth service in Brenham that matches the ambiance created in this charming vintage home. If the food and wine aren't enough, be sure and ask for Brian's adorable 14-year-old waiter son Merritt to serve you. Merritt is a culinary / oenophile whiz kid with the exquisite knowledge, skills and demeanor of a seasoned veteran three times his age. You'll want to box him up and take him home. Bravos Brossas! Don't know what brought them to Brenham, but SO GLAD they're here! Brossa's delivers in service, drinks, food, and atmosphere WITHOUT FAIL every time we visit. The mixologist is spot on in balance, flavor and presentation. I suggest the painkiller with the arancini of the day for a lovely island experience. The food is skillfully prepared with a deft and loving hand. Homemade noodles, proteins cooked to perfect temperature even in mixed plates, spices and acids in perfect balance. Save room for homemade tiramisu, truffles or cannoli (not cloyingly sweet). All I would ask for is a 20 year old tawny port to end the night. Seriously. I spent 30 years traveling the world and exploring cuisines; I can hardly believe that I get to enjoy such an elevated fare in such a welcoming atmosphere in my own backyard.
