My friends and I came here just to check it out late night after dinner. I went on a Sunday afternoon so I am not sure what the crowd is like on any other day. So please read with that in mind. So you know I gave the side eye because I didn't get treatment and it is how I realized that the young lady worked there. There was a group of about 10-12 ladies there having a meeting of the minds.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There were people who were solo and groups all reading or getting drinks. So there was movement and support for the book bar for sure. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's not a large book store in terms of the books that are available.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I am not sure if the book bar is more of a library concept or if you can purchase books. I attempted to ask the lady at the bar but she was preoccupied with preparing drinks for customers and either chose not to hear me or although it was not loud in there, she really couldn't hear me. I searched for the young lady that was at the bookshelves to ask her but she disappeared. In terms of the genres of books, there seemed to be more fiction than any other genre. There are other genres available such as historical, religion and spirituality but again, the other genres are limited. Would you believe me if I told you that Richmond, TX has a small independent book store with live music and a full bar? Sounds too good to be true right? Well, it's not! LIT Bookbar is located in a small shopping strip in the middle of downtown Richmond. The parking lot is a bit small, but we had no problem finding a spot on a Friday evening. It was pretty busy, however we were able to grab a table when we arrived. They have a patio out back if you're unable to find seating inside. The cocktail menu has some interesting drinks. I started with the Clover Club which is a gin cocktail. I enjoyed the raspberry flavor and I loved the froth from the egg white. I followed that with an Aviation Martini (such a classic). I tried a sip of the Blockhouse Martini and it was so good! If you like espresso martinis, you will enjoy this one. I wanted to try the Vesper Martini, but the bartender warned me it's very boozy so I refrained. Next time, I will start with that drink because she piqued my curiosity. They have mocktails and they're reasonably priced (less than $10). You can of course add booze to make it a cocktail. They also have wine and beer. The duo that performed (Alfie & Ignacio) were good. I liked that the volume wasn't too loud to have a conversation. As for the books, they have a nice variety of genres. You can reserve a time for your book club or rent out the store for a private event. They also host events like trivia, silent book club, and author signings. They have merchandise for sale including reading glasses which is just genius! Richmond is a bit of a drive for me, but I'm willing to take a mini road trip to support local. I love this place, it's perfect for you to chill/read/study by yourself or with your friends. The owner has books from local authors and other famous reads. There is a book for everyone. The two mocktails my group and I tried were refreshing! It was fun to watch the owner make them and you can set up a tab with her and clear it at the end. Great cocktail bar! We've been needing one in this area. The vibes are chill and interior is unique. Prices are great as well. A few things I wish were different and would make this place 5 I wish they played more upbeat jazz music or indie, something not so sleepy and past 5pm maybe turned up the volume..? The directions are unclear if we order at the bar if they come to the table so there was a waiting period since no one came up to us or welcomed us in. I went in person and spoke directly with a staff person about hosting my book club at this bookbar. She mentioned that this venue has hosted book clubs in the past though there is not a formal reservation system. She made note of my request on a calendar and included the time. It was about two weeks out. The day of the book club meeting, I attempted to make contact early in the day to confirm that at least two tables were reserved for our club of about 8 people. There is no way to reach anyone over the phone. You can only send a text message. I received no response. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When my sister and I arrived a little earlier than the scheduled time, the staff said the day shift did not reserve the tables and they invited us to sit outside (it was 50-60 degrees!!).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They offered no apologies nor any way to make up for their mistake. I would had appreciated a free drink for the huge inconvenience!! The staff showed NO remorse for overlooking our request. A cute little bookshop that is also a bar. A pretty great combo if you ask me. I sent my husband over on Father's Day for some quiet reading time and he loved it. I went with my daughter yesterday for the Harry Potter Trivia Night and we both had an absolute blast. The place was totally packed due to trivia night, but the crowd was friendly. They had many non-alcoholic options for underage folks and people who don't drink, but I can attest to their cocktails being great. The book selection was really cool too, a nice mix of used and new books, many interesting titles to choose from. I ended up coming home with a couple of novels at the end of the night.
