Listen, I'm gonna try my best to leave this review without cussing and not in a bad way. I can't help but to start with the food because it was that damn good. Oops I said I wasn't gonna cuss. Y'all first of all get the red beans. Next get the fish and shrimp. And try whatever else you want to after that because I'm pretty sure it's gonna be amazing. I walked in the door after driving a good 50 minutes because I wanted something different than what I'm accustomed to eating on the other side of Kati and it was well worth the drive. The vibe of the spot is nice. After a long day at work, you just wanna buy your head and vibe out have a nice little Cosmo chill this is the spot for you. The young lady behind the bar was extremely nice and patient because I had no idea what was on the menu and she was more than willing to make recommendations. After getting my food, I told her how far I had driven and she told the ladies in the kitchen into my surprise, this Ashley came from the back and introduced herself. It was just nice to support a business where management takes time to just appreciate their customers. But back to these damn red beans because when I say they are bussin, they are Bussin. Anyway, you owe it to yourself to check the spot out. I hadn't written a review in a minute because none of the spots that I stopped at was delicious enough for me to just be like oh damn, I want to write a review but this spot right here yeah they did that! I liked this place. A friend of mine just handed me their menu and said order. I can't remember the name of this dish, but I know it's a bowl with turmeric rice. I opted to get chicken on it. I can't remember if there were protein options and kept the sauce on top. Whatever the sauce was, it was yums! I gave this a 3-star review because the rice was undercooked, and as a Carribean, I can't do undercooked rice, haha. I will def be back and recommend others to do so. read more

I went into grab some loaded shrimp fries and shrimp egg roll. I wanted something different for my tastebuds than the ordinary. The food was piping hot when I got it home still. The eggroll was amazing and the fries were delicious . Customer service felt authentic and real. I had a nice experience here. read more

We had our first meal at Mamie G's today and it is now high on our favorite list. I had red beans and rice with smoked turkey and the beans were creamy and full of flavor and the meat tender and flavorful. My partner had the ridiculously cheap fried fish and his two very large pieces were very large and beautifully-fried with a great sauce for dipping. We could not resist the intriguing "Cheeseburger egg roll" (with dipping sauce) and ordered one, which is quite large, and went back for a second. The banana pudding desert with raspberries was more like cheesecake (as we had been told) and was delicious. The two of us ate 3 people's worth of food and (including a 20% tip) spent $20 apiece for the best meal we have had in a long time. Oh...and the place has a relaxed vibe and the staff are helpful and low-key. If there is an accepted grade higher than A+, Mamie G's earns it. read more

Let me start by saying I ordered my food off of Grub Hub. My fries are very soggy and I'm going to attribute that to the delivery aspect. So please know that that has ZERO impact on my review. Let me also say that I was excited to try this place as it's small, I believe black owned and local. I ordered a 6 piece wing combo with buffalo lemon pepper which comes with fries and added on some fried shrimp. Wings- 1 star- dry, overcooked, salty. The flavor gets mixed in with a burn flavor. Thus the overcooked aspect. Fries- 2 stars- they appear to have good seasoning on them but they don't taste seasoned. They give you a decent amount Ranch- 1 star- it's also salty. HOW???? Shrimp- 3 stars- also a little salty but still decent. They also lack crunch but I'm going to assume that's due to delivery so it doesn't impact my rating. Side bar- I LOVE salt so I always say if I say something is salty then you know it's REALLY salty. The salt level is so bad on the wing and the ranch that I absolutely COULD NOT eat them together. I gave it 3 stars because I couldn't give it 2.5, I'm not sure I'd go back. They seem to be a little heavy handed with the salt. If everything wasn't so salty I'd probably go try it in person to see if the fries and shrimp have a crunch when ordered fresh. I didn't finish my food. Solely based on the salt factor. read more

I've heard about this place for several years. Finally, I went to try it and was disappointed. As someone from Louisiana my standards are set high when it comes that cuisine. Mamie G's has ok food and the service is slow. I was one of 3 people being served and still took almost a hour to get my food. I would suggest cutting back the menu options and focus on a few things and get those right. read more

I returned & got a salmon burger & salmon bites. Without all the salt they r delicious. I'll definitely return the food is GOOD.

The wings are so amazing I highly recommend, the service is not the fastest however the wings made up for it!

The service was good, but I was not a fan of the food. No beef or pork is served here, which is fine, the substance of the food was a low-budget taste and small serving portions, but not low-budget price, and the food was not HOT! Water was served in an 8oz plastic cup, since the cups are so small, the waitress had to keep coming back to give us more water, the only drinking glasses I saw were for the liquor orders! No silverware was provided, but then again what I ordered didn't require it, but still...! Only one napkin (very small indeed) was brought out with the food, so I had to ask for more napkins, and of course since so small, 3 of those equaled 1 napkin (Lol)! Nice music was playing, but would I recommend (maybe), would I go back, I doubt it. All in all, I give it 3 Stars! read more

The service is wonderful from start to finish. I appreciate the seasoning they use in their food being a Louisiana native, I felt at home. The drinks are wow! The prices are reasonable considering the amount of time you can tell are placed in the recipes. I will be back to try more items when visiting the town next trip. Came in for the fried catfish and it was solid but really salty. The little plastic cups for water and the cocktail napkins are just plain strange. They really need to have some kind of iced tea, even in bottles. The food is somewhat expensive too considering you are not getting 2 side s like a basic coleslaw. read more
