Our last day in town we visited this place for breakfast. The service was phenomenal, all the servers and food runners would always checking on tables. We ordered an omelet, eggs Benny, waffles, and a BLT. All the food was fresh and delicious. The chai tea and coffee were also great! Don't stop here if you are trying to make time on a trip Our food arrived 49 minutes after we ordered, and that was after we waited in line for ten minutes to order. Our server never once checked on us to see if we needed anything, I would have ordered a soft drink to go. On the plus side, people are friendly, the historic building is well maintained and has interesting pictures, and you get a taste of downtown Flatonia. read more

Wonderful place for coffee and a great breakfast or lunch!! My favorite breakfast is their French toast with strawberries and for lunch a smash burger or their Nom Nom Nini. It's definitely worth the stop they also have a cute boutique to do a little shopping. read more

Avoid this charming little place because I want to make sure I get a table when we come back through! The food was fantastic. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs. The CFS wasn't the biggest I've ever had but it was one of the best tasting I've had. French toast was good and eggs were cooked just how we liked. Place was clean and had the perfect small town charm and friendliness. They have beer available in cans. There's also a small country store boutique connected to the diner. The food here is excellent, and the staff is friendly. My daughter and I were passing through Luling and decided to stop for lunch. I had the chicken fried staek & eggs with hash browns. It was amazing - possibly the best hash browns I've eaten. My only disappointment was that on Saturdays, they don't serve "lunch", but only "brunch", so the grilled cheese sandwich that I initially wanted was not available. Decent fare at a fair price. "We're only serving breakfast today," our waitress explained at noon. That was unexpected, as we'd already reviewed the menu they'd handed us and picked out the lunch items we wanted. We weren't greeted when we arrived. We were eventually told to sit anywhere, but weren't told who would be waiting on us. After awhile, a lady approached from behind the counter, took the order of the people who'd come in after us, then walked away. Soon after, someone sweeping the floors saw my hand up and came by to take our order. The food arrived quickly enough. My eggs benedict ("eggs benny") was tasty enough, though the eggs are over easy, not poached. Still, they were not overcooked and it worked. The hashbrows were tastey enough that I left the ketchup untouched. My dad's taco was pretty bland. It's hard to miss with an egg, cheese and bacon, taco but he says it was a miss. And they didn't bring a side of salsa or anything. Still, it doesn't bill itself as a Mexican restaurant and that's not likely their specialty. And it was pretty inexpensive. It's a nice location, and they're popular enough to fill the place on Sunday. Seems like a regular spot for the locals. They must be doing something right. read more

This diner was our choice this past Sunday for brunch. It was Mother's Day so a short wait was needed for our table. There were attractive breakfast items which had generous servings. My egg, sausage & hash browns were great plus my side of short stack of pancakes. A quality menu was found. This diner is in an historic area of town so no alterations to the frontage are allowed. Sat down to a sticky table w rubbish from last guest. Just missed breakfast and server was nice enough to try and get our order in before "chef" shut down but unfortunately we were denied breakfast. Sadly! Drove from Shiner to try it out. Wife got a lunch selection which finally took 19 minutes to get to the table w no other guests but us at 11:43. Fries were cold and soso tough to bite through sandwich was steamy hot. Not sure how both could be such polar opposites. Great music, beautiful decor and well done menu but no soul no over the top service and only a fizzle of a vibe that you'll have to bring w you. What a let down. Stopped in today for brunch on a a Sunday and this place was packed. Met the owner and she is really a sweet lady! She is the only one running around with an IPad taking orders. We ended up sitting at the bar. Had to get the gentleman at the bar to get us drinks after waiting 10 mins. He was very nice and took care of us with refills. The owner took our order after about 10 mins and it took 30 mins for our food to come out. The food was delicious. My wife's Omelette was a little over cooked. My steak and eggs was very good. This little place is in a historic old building in Flatonia. It is nicely decorated and the atmosphere is really inviting. I can highly recommend them if you need to get off I-10 and have some home cooking! Really would give this place 5 stars but they had a few little issues today. Super small, quaint little town. We come from a small town too. Super clean and friendly restaurant. They were able to accommodate my gluten + dairy allergy (I got the migas) and our youngest is dairy allergic and doesn't consume meat she enjoyed the avocado toast. No issues so that's a bonus. Our food was disappointing. The hasbrowns were overcooked, the bacon was cold when we got it. The pancakes and french toast were cold and undercooked as well. Someone at my table ordered a fountain drink and both times it was filled and refilled, it was only filled to the middle of the cup. I know they were insanely busy and the young ladies waiting on tables are working hard, but I have had better from Darlin's Diner. Today was just not good. I've been here twice, the first time five stars! It's a great spot to meet halfway between San Antonio and Houston. Cute place, great food, nice people. I was there again today, Sunday, breakfast/brunch... Very busy, slow service, cold food served, we had to ask for silverware. It would have been great if it had not been so busy.
