This place was absolutely amazing! It is right in the middle of San Antonio and Houston. The service was great, atmosphere was amazing, and the food was even better. We took our dog and they have a beautiful section in the back that is gated that you can sit out there and eat and it added so much to the atmosphere. They're breathing that they use for the chicken is remarkable and I also ended up getting their cheesecake and that was one of the top cheesecakes that I've had. 10/10 recommend. Such a cute little place right on Main Street. We came in for breakfast and were seated right away. Our waitress was super friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered a vanilla chai, and fresh orange juice. The chai was aromatic and delicious and the orange juice tasted amazing. We ordered a BLT, fried chicken with chorizo gravy, fried shrimp with string onions, and mashed potatoes with a Caesar salad, and a mango bowl. The fried chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. The BLT and fried shrimp were fantastic. Such a cute place to come eat breakfast or lunch! read more

This was a nice stop for lunch. It's a little cafe / coffee shop on one side and a row of four-top tables on the other. There was at least one staff member there who delivered excellent customer service. I ordered at the counter and then sat down. But the tables were numbered so perhaps I should have sat down and been waited in. The counter is set up to take coffee, dessert and to go orders but perhaps, when adding a sandwich to an order for "here" they take your order at your table. I didn't quite figure that out. The espresso was bitter but the cappuccino was very good. I was impressed. I had a BLT. It wasn't my thing but they did go through extra effort to make it special. The bread was a thick, well made brioche. But for me, it's not the right bread for a BLT. They added pickles (so I guess it's a BLTP). Andc they used Kewpie mayo (the same mayo you see zigzagged over your sushi roll in a Japanese restaurant. So they definitely made an attempt to elevate it. But I think I would have preferred one of their other sandwiches and I'll be happy to give them another try. I don't normally order dessert but did here. They all looked so good. They recommended the German chocolate cake. It was very good, mainly because the icing was exceptional. The perfect buttercream. So, yeah. I'm up a pound today and I'm off to the gym. But I totally get the appeal of this place. I'll stop in again sometime for a soup and sandwich, or a salad, or a coffee and dessert. read more

This was a delightful surprise. The creativity in the menu was very refreshing in this tiny little town off hwy 10 in Flatonia. We had the turkey Brie sandwich and it was bursting with flavor. The sautéd spinach had a little bite of garlic and not too wilted. The "cup" of tomato soup was very generous and flavorful. Just now experienced THE ABSOLUTE BEST meal between San Antonio and Houston. What a beautiful restaurant/bakery and the nicest folks ever. Impeccably clean and beautifully decorated. This will be our stop going and coming. Had their lunch special, which was bolognese and Caesar salad with toast. Hubby had pork schnitzel with carrots and spinach and house salad. Sheila made a grilled chicken breast for our pup. Everything was incredible. Then, too full to eat more, we took homemade banana pudding and a raspberry turnover for later. Quaint but clean mom & pop restaurant in downtown Flatonia across from the railroad tracks with white planters in front. We had chicken schnitzel with a lemon butter sauce, fresh salad, sour cream with green onions mashed potatoes, garlic spinach, boiled sweet carrots & homemade banana pudding. All very good. Nice place for travelers! The service was great. Food was tasty. They offer a lot of options for food, drinks hot and cold. Great atmosphere. And a quaint outdoor eating spots with umbrellas, nice touch. We went during a down time for them so it was nice and quiet place to eat and rest before we traveled on. Wonderful place for a great cappuccino (best in town!) and delicious bakery treats! Eggs in purgatory and the French toast are worth getting up early for! Swing by at lunch for the turkey cranberry brie or a smoothie bowl on a hot day. The back patio is perfect in the spring and the dining alley is air conditioned now for the summer! Clean, bright, and a slight bustle from the lunch crowd. we were quickly seated and drink orders placed while looking over a nice diverse selection of offerings. opted for the Chicken fried steak with chorizo gravy...sour cream and chive mashed potato's and sautéed spinach. Arrived timely and hit on all cylinders! Fresh,hot, made with care and with heart. Peaked in the bakery part of the store with fresh muffins, tarts, cookies, and pies etc. grabbed an oatmeal cream pie and that certainly did not disappoint. If you're traveling I-10 between Houston and San Antonio I highly recommend stopping in. It is only a minute or so South if the interstate....ample parking across the street. Will be back! read more

Edna's is a great new addition to Flatonia. We enjoyed excellent coffee's, while I got a full gourmet breakfast and my wife enjoyed a healthier Açaí bowl. It's attached to a beautiful side and rear courtyard which was dog friendly to boot. Prices were also very reasonable. read more

Found this gem on the way back from San Antonio. Food was great as well as the friendly staff! This is now going to be our go-to for any round trip that takes us close by. They hand bake all of their breads, cookies, and pastries. read more
