We had the bread service and caprese salad to start, both were great. The branzini was delicious with a perfectly cooked skin. What a great experience! We have never come to Round Top and spent the weekend and ate at restaurants around there. But we're so glad to have been able to eat at LuLus. Horrible restaurant. This place has nosedived since last visit. Cannot recommend it at all. Came today for dinner date and from start to finish it was awful. The 3 servers in the bar were too busy talking to each other to take care of their 5 customers. It took 15 minutes just to get a glass of water and get drink orders placed. The dining room was no better. The food was slow to come out of the kitchen and completely flavorless. The beef tenderloin was truly without any flavor whatsoever. The chicken Marsala tasted like it was precooked and reheated. I don't know if they lost their old chef or if they just don't care anymore but either way avoid this place like the plague. read more

No apologies, no comps, nothing! He had to pay for another meal to come out. We stopped in here on our way back home and we were impressed by the decor and the menu. However, the food was not hot when we received it. My husband had the meatballs and I had the minestrone soup. The waiter took a very long time in between dropping off our food and coming to check on us. When he finally came back he did apologize and he did go and warm it up for us. It took about 15-20 minutes after we had finished our appetizers to get the next course which was a Cesar salad and bruschetta. The bruschetta was pretty good and my husband liked his salad until after he was full and then he saw a hair on the end of the wedge salad that was not his. One star for the cute atmosphere and one star for our awesome server. Otherwise, how is this place still in business? We ordered a little bit of everything from the menu. We were actually shocked when they brought out the pizza. It looked like a frozen pizza (it had holes in the crust just like those store-bought crusts have!) and tasted like it too. The carbonara tasted like a Lean Cuisine that had been reheated. Salads were small and bland. Appetizers were meh. We left starving and disappointed. I was very excited to try this place out, and equally excited that they opened a location in Houston! But no way will I be eating at either spot. The Houston location for sure won't make it. The ambiance is gorgeous if you're going here for some wine, cocktails or appetizers but the food was not good. My mother's potatoes tasted like instant potatoes. All of the pasta dishes I tried were under seasoned and not worth the price point. I would highly recommend going elsewhere in round top for dinner. Our party of 3 had dinner on a Saturday night with reservations at 6:30. We were greeted and seated quickly and by very friendly staff. Our waiter stopped by to offer water selections and get our drink orders. We chose a bottle of Italian Pinot Grigio which was lovely. We started with the bread basket which comes with different breads, along with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and honey butter. We split the arugula, pear, pecan and Gorgonzola salad (DELICIOUS). One ordered the chicken Milanese with potatoes, one ordered the pasta carbonara, and I selected the lobster ravioli. The crispy chicken was very good and cooked to perfection. My lobster ravioli was good, but for the price I expected better. Sadly, the pasta was a bit doughy. Again, I've had way better for less. The pasta carbonara I think was the best (we all shared a bite). We really loved the simple, yet chic decor. The AC works really good... bring a light sweater, ladies. Very disappointed with our one, and probably only, experience with Lulu's. I made a reservation for a 31st anniversary dinner there. I called back a few days later to confirm and to say that it was an anniversary. I was told they would have a special table set up for us. The next day I received a text from the restaurant asking to confirm, which I did. So when we arrived, we were told that there was no reservation but "we could still be seated". Seeing that we would probably be sat amongst a large and loud crowd of diners, we declined. Bad service and, honestly, lacking ambiance. I can't comment on the food but we did salvage the evening with a nice meal from Royer's Round Top Cafe, who are always dependable. read more

The service at this restaurant is horrible, which is puzzling since it is owned by a seasoned and respected Houston restauranteur. First, they ran out of items in the menu. Second, my wife ordered a drink but the waitresses forgot about it. Our waters were never refilled and the waitress pretty much forgot about us. We never saw her again. When we told her about all of this, she blamed it on "the other waitress." Maybe because they have a captive audience and no competition in this small town, they don't care about customer service. For the people on Yelp complaining about service. First of all, enjoy a slower meal in a small town with the same challenges all business has now with staffing. A little pressuring for ordering extra things, and strange at first when the host told us we may or may not like it, after hearing it was our first visit... It tasted fishy, old, rubbery and hard. very tiny pieces as well. Pizza tasted like totinos kids pizza Lobster ravioli was store bought and in a watery sauce with zero flavor Chicken alfredo was just plain as plain can be. No essence of lemon, garlic, parm..not even salt. My wifes short rib was good. But the polenta it came with was about two ounces. For the price, kind of a joke. Caesar salad was bitter, wilty and just not good. The drinks - get two stars. Very good! Amazing cocktails. Id come back just for the drinks. Not for the food. I don't mind high prices, but food must be edible. It was such a waste of $120. Never had water refilled. No salt and pepper on the table. Dirty plate when we sat down (should have been our sign to leave) No napkins (had to get myself). Cheese board did not look like the picture on this review. Carbonara was bland. By the time marinara came out for calamari - it was cold. You can prob find my check from there today. Seriously, a refund would be nice to see. read more

10/10 for the ambience. The food was ok? If you stomp around Round Top all day, a plate of pasta and a glass of wine will hit the spot. Especially when it's cold. But after you pay, you'll really wonder if the pasta you had was really worth $26. But then you'll say, whatever I was hungry but probably won't crave the meal you had. It's cute, cozy, cool atmosphere feels fancy because of the white linen table cloths but the dress is casual. I ended up being sat in a cellar, which may or may not be your thing but I thought it was fun. I had pasta with tomatoes, opted for no anchovies but replaced with parm instead to replace that salt displacement...never got my parm. Great wine list, we had a lovely Bordeaux which they corked for us, and there's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The patio is romantic with flowering vines, candles and string lights. I took my Sisters in Law to Round Top for the Fall Show today as they had never been. since Royers was closed, we decided to try Lulu's. When we walked in, we were asked if we had a reservation, but that was not a problem as there were plenty of seats, even though it was lunchtime. We decided to sit in the bar area. They have no lunch menu or specials. They are a little pricey. We sat for 30 minutes and watched as other patrons came in , were seated and waiters began taking care of them. I finally flagged down a waiter. We asked what the soup of the day was. My one SIL doesn't eat tomatoes, so she just ordered water. My other SIL ordered a cup of soup and an order of bread. I ordered water and before I could finish the waiter walked away. I went after the waiter and told him I wasn't finished ordering - he walked away. So I went after a Manager. They followed me back to the table and apologized. My SIL got her soup. To save time I ordered soup from another waiter. We finally got water. No bread order. Had to ask for napkins- received paper napkins, while other tables had cloth napkins. The Manager did comp the 2 soups, which did not make up for the poor service . We went to Royers Pie Kitchen so my one SIL could get something to eat. They need some serious training- I was in the Hospitality Industry for over 45 years. Service is just not what it used to be. And comping 2 soups in no way makes up for it. read more

They finally offered a free dessert and to dry clean our clothes. We felt justified in asking for our meals comped due to the horrible experience. Management was not attentive or caring at all. We were not even given additional napkins to dry off with. Friends had told us not to sit in the main dining room due to the high noise level but we found out, you can't sit in the cellar either. read more
