The food was partially mediocre at best. The potato soup was terrible; it came out cold and seemed like they used instant potatoes as the texture was (visibly) lumpy and (texturally) grainy. Absolutely terrible experience. I've lived in BRENHAM for a number of years and the service has never been worse than right now. Took my wife here for lunch. The two girls taking orders seemed inexperienced to say the least. We had another waitress ask us about our missing shakes then disappeared until I showed up at the front counter asking for my shakes. Super cute and cozy cafe with food on one side and candy and ice cream on the other side. I've been going here for years. Their pizzas, wraps and salads are my favorite items. They have WiFi. They used to have INCREDIBLE wings, then they got a new chef and they were horrible. I haven't tried them since then but I've heard they got good again. They have a range of drinks, delicious loaded tater tots, and blue bell ice cream. The candy area is a kid's favorite. So go check this place out! Service is fast and everyone is friendly. read more

It was low-fat, but high in sugar, I would imagine; the thickest, most luxurious smoothie that I had ever slurped up. An assortment of gelato and blue bell ice cream for less than two dollars a serving is a home-run in my book. And even though my smoothie was $4 according to the menu board, the girl who made my smoothie only charged me $2. I don't know anyplace that sells quality smoothies for $2. The pizza I would give 2.5 stars. The environment, service and other food I tried I give 4 stars. My husband and I shared a Margherita Pizza and The Crisper Wrap. The wrap was battered chicken, cheese, some grilled peppers and Honey Mustard dressing in a Spinach Wrap then grilled on the outside. It doesn't sound that exciting but it was so wonderful tasting. My friend and I wanted to go to a different restaurant downtown, but they had closed early for the holidays, so we came into Yumms. There are two entrances to this restaurant, so we stood at the bar waiting to be helped for about five minutes, so finally we decided to walk to the other entrance where we saw three workers just standing and talking to one another. One of them came to help us and when ordering, the person taking our order had to ask us to spell things and where they were located on the menu. Then, after paying, he left without giving us our drinks, leaving us to ask for our drinks we had paid for. When giving us our drinks, he had one of his fingers in our drinks. When we finally received our food it was cold. Horrible experience, will not be coming back. read more

Really nice and spacious. Great atmosphere. I don't love the grab the menu order at the counter routine when we were in there for lunch during an off time. Personally I prefer to have waitstaff but at least you get to skip the tip that works out pretty well if you just grab some menus and grab a table figure out what you want it works out in the end. It was really really good and so is the fried ravioli appetizer. You need to know what kind of beer that you want ahead of time when you get to the counter, because chances are the service person behind the counter is clueless about the local specialty beers they have. Large, airy, with beautiful hardwood floor and solid furniture, and nice easy decor, it creates a casual, comfortable yet upbeat mood. We had a very tasty pizza, a passable mac-and-cheese from the kids menu, and excellent Talenti gelato for dessert. Good quality water, too. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, fast service and good food! When traveling, we like to find locally owned restaurants with great pizza. This was our first visit, but Yumm was added to our list! We ordered the Pepperoni, Onion and Mushroom pizza, a house salad and bruschetta. When the pizza came out, I honestly didn't expect the amount of flavor that filled my mouth. Took forever to get our food. All we ordered was a pizza (witch was good) and a BLTA sandwich. The BLTA had so much mayo on it, you could hardly taste anything else. And thee was a slice of avocado that was the size of a dime. I'm from out of town, so probably will not be back. read more

Great food in the restaurant portion. The pizza was great and so are the wraps. My daughter loves coming here. Her favorite thing is the selection of different types of cokes. The wine is good too. There is one complaint I have however. There is an ice cream/gelato/candy shop attached. The ice cream and gelato are good as well but the candy is often times expired if you look at the dates. It is not any fun to have to explain to your kid why she cannot eat that candy she just bought because you noticed it expired months ago. Everything else is fresh and great so it makes no sense that the candy is almost all expired. If they fix that then I would give them that 5th star. read more

You'll be greeted by some eclectic art right at the entrance and see the inviting bar (which is also where they take your orders). Orders are taken here, you'll get a number and get seated for the short wait. They have a college fund tip jar which is quite a nice touch, all the wait staff really look like college kids, seriously. But, they do dress the part. Best food to order? Get the pizza and the chicken wings. The pizza comes served as thin slices on an elevated plate, baked impeccably to perfection, I secretly believe there's an Italian chef in the back. They say the wings are appetizers but I swear you could have them as a full meal! It's a nice crunchy battered brown, flavored with something secret. Dipping sauces are ranch, BBQ and buffalo- all home made! Tried the gumbo here as well, which was not too shabby, though a bit dry and had little rice in it. So, if you are ever exploring the Brazos river countryside, stop here, just even if it's for the sweets. Next door they have the ice cream and gelato parlor, my only complaint is the steeper prices for cold treats. read more

I love coming in here on the 'indulgences' side, because their selection makes it one of the best sweets shop in downtown Brenham. The employees can be hit or miss on social manners, but when they're not busy sometimes you get a real 'hello'! There's this one gal who's a total sweetheart, and made my sister's day when she came up here to explore Brenham for her birthday! I've eaten out from Yumms twice, and had this burger with pico that was pretty killer. If it wasn't so busy at lunch time I'd definitely go more often, I'm just not in to the long wait. read more

Amber - Thanks for your response. It's really awesome to feel heard. My favorite is simply the Veggie Pizza. It adds fresh flavor to the pizza and it's always has the right cheese to vegetable ratio. I'm a sucker for ranch so I always get a side, but I'll take it ranch-less any day. I was thinking about other comments I felt I should mention.... One thing I struggle with is the chalk board behind the counter. I find it busy and hard to read, albeit informative and overall a good concept. I also forgot to mention that y'all have a great selection of locally brewed and beloved beers without having an overwhelming amount to choose from. I appreciate a small amount of awesome choices. The service here is horrible. The employees were extremely slow and could care less about the long line of people waiting to order. When we got to the counter, the young woman taking our order had visibly dirty hands while serving our drinks, and could not even maintain eye contact. After waiting for 45 minutes for our food while there was no one else in the restaurant, our food was cold and the waitstaff responded to our simple requests (knives, forks and napkins) by telling us to walk across the restaurant and retrieve them ourselves. Part pizza cafe, part candy shop, it's a great place to stop for lunch and Blue Bell ice cream if you weren't able to make it to the Blue Bell factory. I've had the gyro sandwich and the avocado pizza, and while they're not breaking any new culinary ground, they are tasty. Definitely one of the better restaurants that Brenham has to offer. read more
