This meal was just what I needed after hiking the Big Pine Lakes trail. I ordered the build your own omelette and added ham, spinach, mushrooms, onions and avocado. I was also able to order one of their hearty 9-grain pancakes on the side and a Diet Coke. My server was very nice and brought out everything that I needed. She even brought me some of their house salsa. The main con of this Denny's is that it's not very clean and looks like it could use some upgrades. I don't usually leave reviews, but we were super disappointed today. My family drives through once a year and this is usually where we stopped. We rolled through about 8am on a Friday, restaurant was empty. We were a large party and from the get go we just seemed like such a problem. Struggle to put a table together, couldn't seem to handle 3 checks, no menus passed out, no service at all. We ended up leaving after it seemed we just weren't welcome there. Local spot "Jacks" down the street was excited to take us and the service was exceptional. Go there instead. I hope this restaurant is able to change its ways. I almost didn't write this review. I mean it's Denny's right? And this Denny's doesn't get particularly good reviews even for a Denny's. However, maybe management will read this and do something about their cook. My wife and I came here for dinner several days ago. We both wanted breakfast. I ordered the Grand Slam, and my wife ordered the Everyday Value Slam. We both ordered eggs over easy. The server, Taurina M, was pleasant and helpful. Everything was going well, and then the order came. I noticed immediately that one of my two pancakes was significantly smaller than the other and placed covertly beneath the much larger one. Hmmm, I let it pass. I like my eggs on my pancakes so I placed them on top and cut into them only to find that the whites inside were raw and oozing onto the pancakes. I thought about letting it pass, but the eggs were just too raw inside. I let the waitress know and asked to have them recooked. She apologized, took them back, and returned a short while later with a new plate of pancakes and eggs, and another apology. Well, I guess I should have specified the cook on the eggs (medium?) because I must have pissed off the cook. This time he cooked them hard as a rock, and burnt on the edges. I initially decided to let it pass, but as I cut into the eggs I realized that the cook had done this intentionally as a dig at me for sending his eggs back the first time. I called the server back over and showed her the inside of the egg (cooked solid and not over easy), told her that I would pay for the meal, but the egg was inedible, and that the cook had obviously cooked the eggs this way intentionally as a retaliation for me sending his eggs back. She apologized and I finished the meal without eating the eggs. To her credit when she came back with the check she had taken my meal off the ticket and only charged me for my wife's meal. I left her a 20% tip on the full two meals for her kindness. It wasn't her fault, and she was great. I could stop there, but I'm going to add that my wife's eggs were pretty well over cooked (unlike my first eggs) and not aesthetically pleasing, and her meal came with biscuits and gravy that were bland and pretty much tasteless. Both meals had small sausages, and very thin bacon to further round out the meal. Mr./Ms. manager, if you care, it occurred on 9/17/25, order #412152? (it's hard to read the print on the receipt. I can see why they have the low reviews but let's give them credit where credit is due.. The lows: It's not the cleanest place.. definitely could use some deep cleaning on the flooring, maybe sanitize the tables and seats, clean the finger smudges off the windows, etc. The waitress was somewhat of a stranger to her own job.. she had no knowledge of the menu and at one point argued with us. One of the menu items came with a side of soup but said at the bottom that the side could be substituted.. she claimed it could not and even said that the menu did NOT say that. She refused to look at the menu when we tried pointing it out. When I ordered my meal and told her I wanted a specific topping she claimed they didn't carry that item when it was represented on the menu. The same waitress was hard to find, she took forever to take our order and only came back to the table once.. we even had to grab someone else when we wanted our check because she kept running past without a glance. I'd like to add that it was not busy, there were maybe only 3 other tables with guests. The highs: The waitress who we had to grab for help was great, she was apologetic and friendly and made us feel more at ease. The food was amazing!!! I'm not sure who they have cooking but this was the best Denny's meal that I have ever had sober! I got a burger with my own chosen toppings and it was delicious. Juicy, full of flavor, and messy in all the right ways. The onion rings were a little heavy on breading but crunched perfectly and we're not greasy as onion rings tend to be. My first review was in 2021 and my, things have changed. The place is not clean.It was in 2021. The area where drinks are arranged and pies in the cabinet is dirty. The stainless steel cabinets are terrible. management needs to either train how to clean or pay someone to clean the area. Food, I had steak and eggs with toast and potatoes. Not bad. Coffee. Terrible. At 4.99 for coffee it should taste better. Had to ask for refills. Staff is not focused on tasks. Wandering around talking instead of serving. Who is watching the register? folks want to pay and get out of there. My breakfast $32.00 for steak eggs and coffee. Sad. I visit Bishop a lot to fish. Will not return to this place. It's old and outdated but that's ok. It's not as clean as it could be and that is not ok. Staff is young and untrained, at least they are working and attempting to be helpful but need some guidance. We ordered 2 build your own grand slams and 2 plain hot coffees. Total came out to a little over $35-it isn't exactly cheap but you're dining out for breakfast in a town with few other options so it isn't surprising either I think where things unraveled was after we picked up our order. For the first grand slam we ordered: sausage, bacon (per the hostess they could make it soft and less crispy,) scrambled eggs and hash browns For the second grand slam we ordered: regular bacon, turkey bacon, egg whites and hash browns What we got: First grand slam was missing sausage. It was placed in the second grand slam order instead Not a big deal, we could always move the sausage from my order to the other order so I don't mind that at all. However, once we moved the sausage to the correct persons order, we noticed that the second grand slam was missing items too. Each grand slam comes with 4 items, so we expected to have a total of 8 items between the 2 of us since we each ordered a grand slam. But between the 2 grand slams we ordered, we had a total of 7 items. And the items were mixed up between the two orders So we went back to the restaurant to let them know. They didn't seem to understand what the issue was initially. I pointed out that one of the grand slams was missing an item-I was missing the regular bacon from the second grand slam order They promptly took the order to the back to request for the missing bacon to be cooked and added to the order and offered their apologies. All was well, or so I thought When I went back to the car and opened our food, I realized that they cooked me a second order of turkey bacon instead of regular bacon. To recap I ordered regular bacon and turkey bacon and egg whites and hash browns I ended up with turkey bacon and sausage and egg whites and hash browns When I asked them to correct it I ended up with 2 orders of turkey bacon, egg whites and hash browns Not to mention the fact that the bacon ordered by my partner for his grand slam was quite crispy even though he asked them to make it softer They were nice through it all but this was a very frustrating experience read more

Came thru Bishop late one evening on our way home from a week-long vacation in San Diego, and Denny's was about the only place open that had a variety of vegetarian options other than Jack in the Box (their anytime Breakfast sandwiches). Restaurant was a bit dirty, seats were patched with duct tape, and the Men's rest room was closed. Service was OK, a bit slow. Staff seemed a bit off, couldn't really put my finger on it. Also, constantly heard someone coughing from somewhere inside the restaurant, and that should have been our cue to leave, because two days later, we both tested positive for COVID, and this was the only place we stopped that day where we had any sort of closer contact with people. Next time we travel thru Bishop late at night, we'll just do the Jack in the Box drive thru. read more
