We were pleasantly surprised by this cute restaurant at Bishop. We spent the night in the area on our way to Lake Tahoe and we didn't expect much but that place is a hidden gem! Steak was super juicy and flavorful, staff was friendly and knowledgeable about steering me away from sides containing gluten. Got the lavender lemonade cocktail and was in love with that too! We have only driven through bishop and never stayed there. We are glad we did and found whiskey creek to eat at. The chicken and steak were yummy tasting. The loaded mashed potatoes still make my mouth water. The place is huge and has lots of space. Our server was kind yet funny. We will definitely always eat dinner here any time we stay in Bishop. read more

Stopped in for breakfast. First time in and I was craving Steak and Eggs. I ordered it cooked Medium rare and an additional 2 eggs (over easy). Crispy Hash Browns and sourdough toast. My wife ordered the Avocado toast with fruit. And she said it was delicious! Our server was Trina and she was amazing! Always checking in and making sure we were happy! The dining area was in the bar and it was comfortable and relaxing. It looks like they have an area designated for live music. We were just passing through but very happy to find Whiskey Creek. Very nice I liked as soon as they asked where we wanted to sit.. they have the bar side separate from dining side. Ribeye streak with garlic mash. Steak came out hot which was a plus for me I love my food hot.. seasoned just right not over and not under very flavorful and tender it's 12oz so we shared it. The garlic mash again was just right over the top with gravy with a dollop of carrot just the right touch. Portion size was just right. Had a side sunshine salad the dressing was sweet with the little tart not to much but they mixed my salad in it. Sad I didn't get bread you can't have steak and salad without bread.. Staff was super nice they said on Thursday nights they have sax player when we were leaving they started getting more people. Don't get dessert would like to try the crème brûlée but was to full. The doors are open even with the construction. We will for sure stop by again when we are passing thru. read more

How does a Texan go to a steakhouse and not get a steak? When he goes to a restaurant that has two chefs and one cooks tasty Thai food. I had the Whiskey Creek pad Thai with beef (medium heat). My pad Thai was nicely seasoned with plenty of beef and veggies. My wife was still full from lunch so she had a baked potato and side salad and said they both hit the spot. Katie was our server tonight and she did a great job. Next time I might get a steak or probably with try another tempting Thai dish. Y'all check Whiskey Creek out! read more

Driving through town from Reno to Los Angeles. We arrived about two in the afternoon and were immediately seated, and ordered drinks and appetizers (onion rings). The onion rings were to-die-for. Thinly battered and sliced and cooked to perfection. Easily the best I have ever experienced. I ordered the albacore sandwich and the wife had the pasta, Fettuccine Alfredo, I believe. The pictures on the wall were well lit and original/entertaining. I kept looking back at the neighing horse one. My food met expectations and was quite hardy. More than filling and I finished it all. My wife enjoyed hers also. A pleasant surprise on our journey home. Forgot to get our waiter's name, but excellent service. read more

This place is pretty awesome! We have been up to mammoth every year for 9 years but have never been able to come here. They finally extended their hours to be open earlier on weekend which is amazing. Honestly, the staff was sweet and attentive. The food was fresh and amazingly priced. After a full day of outside work, I needed a nice place to cool down and relax. This was a good chance, as there were no crowds at 4:30 and most visitors were still driving in for the rodeo. I saw beets on the menu and immediately ordered my favorite vegetable salad. Next, fish sounded healthy, so I also filled up on this, which was done perfectly. 3 stars because the service was great. Maybe my expectations were to high .... After a long drive from Los Angeles to Bishop I was dreaming of a great cocktail and a juicy steak. Outside dining on the deck was nice. Our server was great. I wish I could say the same for the cocktails & food. We ordered different versions of a Margarita & they oddly came in different size glasses. Drinks are too sweet for my taste. I think they were probably made with a premade mix. I am a steak person & I want my ribeye thick, preferably bone in, seared medium rare and juicy. The waiter told me that it was not bone in and that was OK . I added a dinner salad with blue cheese. I ordered my steak medium rare with the loaded mashed potatoes. Salad and loaded mashed potatoes are an extra cost. Boy was I disappointed! Salad dressing lacked flavor. It was watered down. And then a thin over cooked steak arrived! Oh my gosh at this point, I'm exhausted after 6 hours of driving, willing to eat this overcooked skinny piece of meat but still looking forward to the loaded mashed potatoes. Silly me as they were dry and lacked flavor. I should've figured when I saw that they had been piped onto the plate. Yes, a pretty presentation but mashed potatoes aren't going to hold up to piping unless they're stiff & dry!!! I could have opted for a loaded baked potato at an extra charge. But that didn't come with bacon or cheese. I could've added that on top of the butter and sour cream for another additional extra charge Now mind you I am not cheap. I am willing to pay money for good food. But at some point I get irked at all the extra fees. Wine list is substandard in my point of view. It's heavy on Temecula wines which I do not like. Nuff said .... Cute town and the next time we pass through I'll find another dining option. Mammoth is another 30 minutes north and there are a couple of good steakhouses there. read more

About one time each year, I get a craving for chicken fried steak. I'm usually disappointed. Too dry, gravy is bad, or the eggs don't come out right. Driving home from June Lake, I stopped at Whisky Creek in Bishop. I haven't been to this location previously, although I did visit the Mammoth location about 40 years ago. Anyway, I digress. The food was delicious. Heads up, if you want a side salad with your meal it is an add on. I had the Filet and it melted on my mouth. My husband had the New York strip steak. Also. The mashed potatoes were delicious and the veggies cooked just the right amount. The drinks were some of the most reasonably priced in the area and they weee delicious. They have bear from our Mountain Rambler brewery on the menu. The service was excellent and our waitress, Kimberly was gracious and kind, as well as patient. It was a very pleasant evening. I haven't been here in a while, and I believe the quality of the food has improved. If you are looking for an elegant restaurant for a special night out, the ambience is excellent. Stopped there on our way home from Reno. Had the "Whiskey wedge" it was OK. Could have used some tomatoes on it. Not sure why there was candied walnuts on it. They didn't help. Onion rings were good. The biggest issue was it took a long time to get out food. read more

Nice atmosphere and friendly wait staff. We were there on a Tuesday for lunch. The lunch menu during the week is mostly salad, sandwiches and burgers. We ordered their 'Burnt Ends' sandwich. The menu said, 'thick cut tender pieces of tri tip or prime rib...', so I requested the tri tip. The server told me it was mixed tri tip and prime rib. I had never heard of prime rib 'Burnt Ends', but decided give it a try, bad choice... There were NO 'Burnt Ends' of either meat, just large, very chewy cubes of mostly tough prime rib sloshed in sweet BBQ sauce. There is no way you could eat that as a sandwich. We picked out the chunks of meat with a fork... Terrible!! Fries were mostly small end cuts which need a fork to dip in the ranch or ketchup. One and Done! read more

My hubby and I were staying at a hotel a few mins away and thought we'd take an evening walk and try the local fare. As soon as we arrived, our server, John, greeted us with a smile and casually sat by us to take our order. Our drinks came quickly followed by our food. So my daughter and I had dinner at Whiskey Creek. I had the Prime Rib and my daughter had the Filet. I have had Prime Rib from all the big names Ruth Chris, Morton's from LA Vegas NYC and this was the best I've ever had. I talked to people around town asking for recommendations. They said Whiskey Creek was good but way overpriced. IMHO being from coastal California the prices were the norm. I would match their food to anyone in the states. We stayed in Bishop for the first time over a busy ski weekend in Mammoth and found this spot rated highly in town. My son wasn't feeling great, so we ordered takeout to eat back in our hotel. I called to order, but was guided to order online, which was easy and fast. We visited the restaurant and it a nice, large space that feels warm inside. There was a cute shopping area in the front and cozy interior. Service was fast, friendly and all items were included with our order. We shared the Thai fried rice with chicken, which was good, and the Spring rolls - they didn't have much flavor. It was a fun dinner on our mini vacation, so we also ordered pie. My son had a slice of apple and I had lemon meringue. He loved the apple, but mine was just okay without much crust. (It had a crumbled graham crust.) read more
