There was lemon water to drink which was nice. Not so positive: Everything we got was dry and honestly, not that good. The most moisture laden item was a raspberry crumble bar but it was surprisingly not very sweet and kinda off putting. The scone was dry, the shortbread was dry, the bottom of my daughter's cookie was burned. Like pretty black. Maybe it was supposed to be that way? My wife wanted an espresso but the lady behind the counter explained they only had drip coffee. Our daughter asked the same lady if there was a cupcake available, and she said "nope, what you see is what you get." Nothing wrong with what she answered but her tone seemed like she was really annoyed by the question. My wife just wanted to leave but felt like it would be rude to leave without buying things and we like to generally support local businesses. Side note: We ended up going to Schatts bakery a half mile away later that day and had a way better experience with far better tasting baked goods. We wish East side luck but we won't be back.

I ordered a small and it was so good but also so strong. It tasted like a double shot. Also ordered a peanut butter chocolate chip cookie. Very soft and chewy. Too sugary for my taste but perfect amount of peanut butter flavor and chocolate chips.

Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Parking is readily available inside of the plaza as well. Lots of doggos visiting with their parents. First walking in it was very toasty lol but you adjust to it eventually. The line situation is a little interesting. When it's crowded, it wraps around and heads towards the back bar and bathroom. It's a bit difficult to navigate to the back of the line or bathroom if the seating is occupied - but manageable. Variety of pastries to choose from! I wish I snagged the coffee cake slice. Reminds me of the ones they'd serve in elementary school back at home (Los Angeles). Every pastry looked to be around $4-6. The staff were extremely friendly and positive. They made the drinks fairly quickly for having such a crowd in the morning. The breakfast burritos are pre-made and kept warm to serve in a display. :) great price point too. Bacon and soy chorizo are available for about $8-9. Mild and spicy salsa on the side. Items ordered: Bacon bfast burrito (4.5/5) - large portion! It was hefty. The spicy salsa was really nice and had a kick to it but didn't over power. The burrito is stuffed with potatoes, cheese, egg, bacon, and pico I think. Would def order again! I just wish there was a bit more bacon. Cortado (4.5/5) - pretty strong and the color was absolutely gorgeous. Not sure what blend they use but I wish there was a bit more flavor. Would def recommend and return! The customers seemed really happy.

My brother and I were looking for a place where we could sit with an evening coffee and have some…read morereal conversations -- somewhere calm, open a little later, and not rushed. We were really glad to find Stellar Brews. I ordered a chai latte and it honestly may be the best I've ever had in my life -- perfectly spiced, not too sweet, and just really comforting. The service from Carlos was great, too. He wasn't overbearing -- just genuinely kind, generous, and attentive in a low-key way that made the space feel welcoming. If you're deciding between the big coffee chains and this place, skip the chains and come here. We'll definitely be back.

We were on our way out of town around 9:30am and stopped to get coffee and grabbed an everything bagel with eggs and bacon as well as a turkey egg burrito from the grab and go section. The coffee was fine. The bagel was so hard and burnt that I could barely bite into it. I tried a couple of different spots and it was inedible. Whatever the egg puck was inside the bagel was hard and tasteless. The "bacon" was literally stuck to the bagel, I tried to peel it off and eat some but it didn't taste like bacon and was like leather. I'm having a hard time understanding why they would serve this? The burrito was just brought out from the kitchen. We bit into it and it was cold. The tortilla tasted fake. Again, why put this out there to purchase. Had we not been in a time crunch we would have turned around to show them what they gave us and request a refund. I've never thrown out food before but these were inedible. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 as the cashier was very friendly.

I have been to Tom's Place too many times to count. It is one of those few surviving old school…read more(literally ... it is over 100 years old) roadside cafes that are precious little gems. The food is very good. Not spectacular, and not gourmet, by any means, but very good American fare. The service is also very good, and the current owner is an asset to the community in many ways. But it is the ambiance that really makes it special. It dates back to 1917, and looks it. The dining room has a big fireplace and is paneled with knotty pine. There are a lot of doo-dads about which give the place a lot of character. Next to the dining room is a small bar, similarly festooned with a lot of entertaining doo dads. Tom's place is an official watering hole of ECV, and that alone tells you something about the place. They also have a small general store with convenience food and supplies, as well as simple souvenirs like t-shirts and coffee mugs. Have a look there while you are at it. To give you a sense of the place, consider the attached photograph. It is of the stairway to the restrooms downstairs. That doorway is low enough that a tall person might possibly hit their head, hence the admonishment. That's it in a nutshell. This is either your kind of place or not. But it is surely mine!

Upon arrival to Tom's place, I let my service animal walk around for second before picking her up…read moreto carry her into the restaurant. I was immediately met on the porch by the owner? A short, portly, long blond/ grey hair lady who instantly barked that pets were not allowed in Tom's place. I informed her that my dog is a service animal, and she immediately raised her voice and started accusing me of lying. She demanded to see paperwork that would prove that my dog is a service animal, I asked her to wait a minute while I pull it up on email and she would not stop raising her voice and basically yelling at me. I had lost my reading glasses the day before and could not see well, I was trying to pull up the email while she was yelling at me. She said she had reading glasses she could sell me, but I needed to show her the proof that my dog was a service animal before she would let her in the store. My dog was now shivering profusely because it was coldish and windy, she pointed it out and I informed her that my dog is shivering from the cold, and we are just hungry this is a huge waste of time, because she is a legal service animal, but I am now under too much stress and cannot see without my glasses to pull up the digital proof that she demands before we enter. I informed her that this was illegal, and she started berating me, telling me I don't know what the law is. She than started being condescending and asking me if I know what ADA stands for. I told her that I am a RN, and that just made her louder and more unruly. If anyonlie from the state wants to talk, I allow YELP to release my email address to them. I have had my service animal for years, and never a problem. I have actually had her in Tom's place before without a problem. I have no idea why a small restaurant owner would rather cause potential litigation and undue stress upon potential customers and break the law and demand proof of service animal legitimacy than just let people with service animals live their best lives in peace. I did not need this experience and neither did the friend that was with me or my service animal . WHO THE HELL CARES IF SOMEONE HAS A SMALL DOG THAT IS SILENT. Unfortunately for you, she is a service animal. I have paperwork. In this day and age in California, they are letting many crimes go unpunished, as it is now racist to prosecute anything. So to all the small restaurant owners out there that give people undue stress about service animals which are not a crime, just shut your mouth, take our money, and obey the law.
