These burritos were big and generously filled and the names of the signature coffees were delightful. I also enjoyed the spicy smokey hot sauce they served with it. It was very good! I ate half and saved the rest for later.
Not my first time at looney (been to the one in bishop), but my first time at the mammoth location! Tucked away in the corner of the plaza you'll find a warm and inviting coffee shop. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Parking is readily available inside of the plaza as well. Lots of doggos visiting with their parents. First walking in it was very toasty lol but you adjust to it eventually. The line situation is a little interesting. When it's crowded, it wraps around and heads towards the back bar and bathroom. It's a bit difficult to navigate to the back of the line or bathroom if the seating is occupied - but manageable. Variety of pastries to choose from! I wish I snagged the coffee cake slice. Reminds me of the ones they'd serve in elementary school back at home (Los Angeles). Every pastry looked to be around $4-6. The staff were extremely friendly and positive. They made the drinks fairly quickly for having such a crowd in the morning. The breakfast burritos are pre-made and kept warm to serve in a display. :) great price point too. Bacon and soy chorizo are available for about $8-9. Mild and spicy salsa on the side. Items ordered: Bacon bfast burrito (4.5/5) - large portion! It was hefty. The spicy salsa was really nice and had a kick to it but didn't over power. The burrito is stuffed with potatoes, cheese, egg, bacon, and pico I think. Would def order again! I just wish there was a bit more bacon. Cortado (4.5/5) - pretty strong and the color was absolutely gorgeous. Not sure what blend they use but I wish there was a bit more flavor. Would def recommend and return! The customers seemed really happy.
We love to come to Looney Bean every year. During this 10 day trip, we visited three times. Our favorite drink is still the hot Velvet Elvis. We tried the coffee cake and both this year and last year, it was pretty dry and just crumbled. Not sure if they have a different baker or what. We tried the gluten-free peanut butter cookie with chocolate chips on top and it was fabulous! We went back in a couple days later to get another one. That will be our new go to. My friend also got the mango scone and enjoyed it. The selections of T-shirts and hoodies was thin this year. Looks like they've changed the logos again. My favorite is the one with the van and all the critters driving and one with the pine trees.. I looked online and there were no T-shirts available and only a few hoodies left. Guess I'll keep wearing my old T-shirts for now. LOL.
The inside was sooo cute! What a vibe. Service was alright. Got to try 4 different drinks, none that stood out to me. I think the best was the blueberry latte. The looney latte was very plain, could not taste the vanilla at all. Regarding the coffee taste, something about it I just don't really like. Not bad tho!! Maybe the day I went was an off day but it didn't leave a good impression on me
Mammoth Lakes is a wonderful getaway and on this trip Looney Bean Coffee helped us wake up and made our mountain adventure more tasty! This was our first opportunity to visit Looney Bean and we ordered a Dirty Chai and a Silky Sinatra from a welcoming and friendly person behind the counter. The dirty chai included espresso with a yummy chai spice mix. The silky Sinatra included a rich coffee deliciously accented with vanilla, honey, and cinnamon. Each of these was rich and very satisfying. There was also nice latte art on each of our drinks! Yay! We really enjoyed our first time at Looney Bean and will definite return next time we visit the Mammoth area.
go to coffee when i'm in the area. headed to lee vining area (twenty lakes basin/saddlebag) and stopped here twice LOL. on the way up and on the way down! they make a decent breakfast burrito but most importantly delicious lattes. i always just get an iced whole milk latte. bomb! good quality beans and the flavor really shows through. always busy in the morning. if you think this place is bad you gon get thrown into the looney bin :p
As soon as I walked in I could smell this was GREAT coffee. I ordered the Looney latte. Cames with whipped cream on top and 3 chocolate drops or I believe thats what they are. I ordered a small and it was so good but also so strong. It tasted like a double shot. Also ordered a peanut butter chocolate chip cookie. Very soft and chewy. Too sugary for my taste but perfect amount of peanut butter flavor and chocolate chips.
Their coffee was strong and flavorful! I enjoyed it so much I purchased a bag to go (which they offered to grind), that was helpful. The coffee shop offers seating inside and outside. The baristas were all so sweet and gave the pups a treat as well
Looney Bean is hands-down my ultimate summer morning spot in Mammoth Lakes! The cold brew is delicious and smooth, and their seasonal iced lattes are perfectly balanced and refreshing. Don't skip the breakfast burritos--they are massive and serve as the ultimate trail fuel. The line can look daunting, but the staff operates efficiently and gets out orders fast. Great indoor and outdoor seating so you can bring your fury friend. A must-visit Eastern Sierra staple!

My husband got a cold brew (not pictured) and I got a Nutella Latte (NL). The baristas were friendly and we got our drinks quickly. I would come back if I'm in the area again.

Here is a list of what we all had and our rating :) Cute inside, they have merch on sale, and have a cute outdoor front patio area with tables and umbrellas to enjoy. They have seating inside, a fireplace, and a wooden kids' play kitchen for the little ones. And a self-serve area to spruce up your coffee. Iced Mexican Mocha 10/10 *add Looney Dust at self serve area for even more flavor Silky Sinatra 10/10 Iced Vanilla Latte 7/10 *was more milky than coffee tasting but still enjoyable Strawberry Matcha *Good but had frozen dried strawberries instead of fresh or puréed Vanilla Bean Frappuccino 10/10 Mango Madness 8/10 *great sweetness level but the banana overpowered the mango (still good if you like banana) Berry Berry Good 4/10 *sweetness level was about a 3-4 and tasted mostly like yogurt. I suggest to add extra honey for a boost of flavor.
We popped in from our trip back from the village. This was super cute and cozy! It was also packed as well - standing room only. It looked like everyone had the same idea - get some coffee and get out of the cold . The name of the place was what caught my attention. I mean - who isn't a little looney? My other half ordered the silky Sinatra, which has vanilla honey and cinnamon. Very tasty! I refer these small mom and pop coffee shops over the franchise ones any day and am so glad we stumbled onto this place.

Great tasting drink for a great price. My drink was less than $8 despite alternative milk and additions. It was packed when I got there (8ish on a Tuesday) but so worth it. The cold foam tasted like it was made with real vanilla bean and it was soooo yummy. I didn't get a burrito but while I was there for an hour, they almost sold out so they must be good! The baristas seemed smiley and warm towards regulars. Cute decor and a nice place to sit for a bit! Will definitely be back on my trips up! read more
The best coffee we had in Mammoth! We tried a few other local spots in the days we spent here and none of them were as good as Looney Bean! I wish we had tried this spot earlier or we would have come here every morning. The Nutella latte was amazing. They have a lot of drinks to select from, so it was hard to choose which to go with! The food is also great. The ham and cheese croissant was phenomenal! The lemon poppy seed muffin was also good, but very very dense lol. Good for two people for sure. We will definitely come back next time we're visiting. read more

A great local coffee shop. They have a lot of different flavors for signature lattes and seasonal lattes. Their breakfast burritos are really good too! I love stopping by in the morning for a latte and burrito. The line can be long in the morning, but you can order online ahead of time for pickup to avoid waiting in line. read more

Coffee was great there at mammoth. Highly recommended when visiting. I prefer iced coffee. I really liked the brown sugar latte with oatmilk or the velvet Elvis. The service was fast even though it does get packed. And the ambiance was nice they even had little kids toy to entertain your little. read more

First time in Looney Bean and I was absolutely charmed by the beautiful interior/decor and warm atmosphere. I ordered an iced coffee with a splash of coconut milk and coconut syrup. It was the perfect caffeine pick me up! Not too sweet, roasty & nutty. Service was friendly and quick. Such a pleasant first time experience checking this spot out! While I didn't order any food, it seems they have a good amount of small bites & pastries to choose from. Highly recommend! read more

Came back after a nice experience my first time here only to discover I probably won't be back based on a poor customer service experience after an accidental spill burnt my hand severely. A by standing customer helped when he witnessed my distress After noticing that none of the staff saw what occurred I asked for something for my hand. She brought me a bunched up paper towel with cold water. I told her my hand was pretty badly burnt and that I would require ice. She brought me ice in a paper bag. In the meantime, my husband went to get me a glass with water so I could dip my hand into icy water. I walked over to him because the paper bag was falling apart. At that point there was a young lady who was cold and somewhat dismissive of the situation. She proceeded to tell me it was an issue "how I talked to her staff". I was a bit taken aback and proceeded to explain that when a person gets burnt with scalding hot liquid, the situation is actually reactionary and clarified that I did not "yell" at her employee when I requested help. Sadly, there was no empathy, sincere apology or offer of genuine concern. This leaves a bad impression and now reflects poorly on a small local business. It's my general practice to support local businesses and I wish ownership had trained their employees on how to handle injuries. I'm starting to see a blister form on my finger and attaching a photo of the cup AFTER the spill. It's still full and probably how full it should get served, rather than literally to the rim where it's impossible to pick up without spill risk. read more

First time at Looney Bean Coffee and we'll definitely be back! The Velvet Elvis was so good I ordered it two days in a row -- it definitely had my heart. We also tried the Snickerdoodle Latte and the Looney Latte, and they were just as good. The line was long but moved quickly. The coffee cake was a bit dry, but we loved the kids' play area -- my four-year-old had a blast. Great spot for families! read more

Tried this coffee place in Mammoth and was not disappointed. The only disappointment I had was the temperature of the coffee was not hot, but the flavor was amazing. Service also was mediocre as I believe they get a lot of tourists are coming in and employees get annoyed read more

Looney Bean is a nice spot tucked away in a strip mall. We stopped by for an afternoon pick me up and had a simple iced latte. It seemed to be fairly steady. People were in and out the entire time we sat and enjoyed our drink. Locals and non-locals seemed to enjoy the Looney Bean. Service was good. Line moved quick and drinks came out in a reasonable time. The coffee was good, but didn't blow me away. I wish it had had a bit more espresso flavor. They did have a small pastry case and some merch for you to enjoy. I wouldn't go out of my way to come to Looney Bean but it's a good coffee choice in Mammoth and was open later than some other spots. Enjoy! read more

Ok so, Looney Bean in Mammoth is a gem! After a weekend of hiking and exploring, my friends and I were looking for a cozy spot to grab coffee. We originally stopped at another coffee shop in town, but the vibes just weren't right. Thankfully, my friend suggested we try Looney Bean, and it was perfect! The atmosphere is so welcoming - whether you sit indoors in their cozy space or enjoy the fresh air on the outdoor patio, it's a really relaxing and inviting place. I feel like it's locally owned, which makes the experience even more special. Anyway, I ordered a lavender latte, and it was absolutely delicious - just the right balance of floral and espresso. I also got a sticker hehe. I only wish we had arrived earlier to try one of their breakfast burritos. They sounded amazing. If you're in Mammoth - or just need a little drive, get the coffee here, I'd highly recommend Looney Bean! read more

Of the 3 coffee shops we tried, this one was most affordable and had the best looking pastries available. Also found a cute mountain mug as a souvenir! I got the sweetened matcha, which was appropriately sweet but not very strong in matcha flavor. My partner got the cappuccino, which was just okay but that may be because he upgraded to a bigger size. Next time would like to try their chai latte or Nutella latte instead. Our drinks came out quickly and staff was friendly. read more
