    Great beer and food!
    Sara D.

What great beer - one of the best here in Mammoth. We also had the hummus plate, which was probably one of the best we have ever had. It had an assortment of food to dip into it. We drove by after a hike on Saturday afternoon and it was packed. We tried on a Monday and it was much better to get a table. Mammoth hopping on the weekends. They had tables both inside and out.

Nice vibes. Service was decent. Beer and wine were nice. Nice experience for mammoth visit.

The food was decent (I got asada tacos - pictured and not pictured are the cheeseburger and chicken sandwich my husband and kid got), the drinks were better. My husband can't recall the exact name of the beer he got but it was a West Coast IPA. I got the sour and I loved it. It tasted like juice to me. The vibe was chill. They have a stage for music. The food came out quickly and those working the bar and serving our food were nice. Totally would come back again.

Stopped in during drive from Reno to Bishop. I was hoping to get a bite to eat to accompany the beer. Kitchen closed an hour before closing so only tried the beer. Had a hazy and a wc, both were really well made. They had a local DJ running the music, vey good. A good crowd for the beer and music even though it was pretty loud. Would definitely try if staying in the Mammoth area - I like breweries so I normally stop by them whenever I can.

Standard brewery. Was very busy/crowded with very limited seating and tables around 5 pm on a Sunday during ski season. They have several beers on tap and a few non-beer options as well. The huckleberry seltzer was super good, from project x I think. The cider from Shelter Distillery was superrrr dry, beware. $8 each before tip. Very loud. Lots of folks brought kids.

    Flight time. All bomb!

I thought I wrote a review for this brewery when I was in town a couple months ago. It's unfortunate my review doesn't reflect the potential of their beers. Let me preface my rating with the fact that the beers were great and that alone would have made it a 5 star place to visit. We shared 2 flights and also shared a couple of their cans from a local LIQ the day before. So the beers get a nod of approval. However, the service was awful. We sat at the bar and were enjoying our time and the first flight. But three things happened with the order of a second flight that ruined the whole experience. 1. Some drunk chick that used to work there was behind the bar and pouring herself a beer and it seemed inappropriate and she was annoying and acting like she owned the place. The actual workers did nothing/said nothing. 2. Some of the workers' friends or whoever (maybe that same drunk lady) completely surrounded us at the bar and invaded our peraonal space, everyone completely oblivious to us gets aggitated (or just not caring). They were really in tuned to talking over the bar to their friends though which added insult toninjury 3. There was an animal on the bar that everyone thought was so cute, but it is almost getting its tail in our drinks. So not only was it completely unprofessional but a health code violation. The workers still didnt seem to care. We went and sat outside to finish our last two samplers. They were clueless to the fact we left or why, which highlightes the customer service we experienced.

    Is it 21 and up?

To order beer, yes. To order food or soda or iced tea or to play pool or any of the games on the game shelf or to listen to music or to hang out? No.

Are there TVs there to watch the LA Kings games?

We have a 100” projector and we can play one game at a time. Just ask your bartender and if no one has requested anything we should be able to find it to stream online.

Does this restaurant take reservations ? Thank you!

We do not. It’s all first come first serve.

This is unsafe and unacceptable, especially for children's food. The steak was ordered medium well, but was served well done -- completely overcooked. The chimichurri sauce was also misleading: instead of the classic green sauce, a red mixture was served that had nothing to do with it. The coleslaw was simply awful. Additionally, the staff showed no proper response -- we were not offered a replacement, a discount, or even a proper apology. This reflects a complete disregard for service standards and customer care. In its current state, this does not meet even basic restaurant standards.

We typically like sitting at the bar but bar seats were full so we opted for a table rather than wait. There are both high top and low top seating available as well as bar seating against the windows and fermentation silos. There is also seating outdoors if weather permits. The tables use a bar code scanning system to order food and drinks, then a person will deliver the food. I'm okay with this but I can see why some people would be frustrated with this process. For the appetizer we ordered the POBLANO ARTICHOKE DIP - $16 Artichoke, Poblano Chile, Corn, Cheddar, Colby Jack, Parmesan, Garlic, Mayonnaise, Sour Cream, Cream Cheese. Warmed and served with Pita bread or chips. We elected for the tortilla chips. This is a tasty appetizer and the perfect size for two people. For drinks we ordered two different hot cocktails served almost like a hot tea. Mulling it over - $17 Glass Creek Vodka, Mulled Spice Juice, Lemon. This was quite good and had a little bit of sweetness. The second was The Hot Toddy. $17. American Single Malt Whiskey, Lemon, Honey, Ginger. This tasted a little stronger and no sweetness. Do I think the drinks are a little expensive , yes. But sadly that is what you come across in a ski village. Personally I was a little shocked at how many families with young children were at the distillery but I've noticed that in almost every bar or brewery in Mammoth. Another good but different experience at Shelter Distilling.

I highly recommend waiting in their waiting area or downstairs for your table as they will come to find to if something opens up quicker. Everything we ordered was tasty. We were very hesitant to try the Asian sticky ribs but it actually ended up being really good. I can't remember what the vegetable dish (4th pic) was called but it was also very good if you got a bite with everything in it. It had sweet potato, beet, candied walnuts and pomegranate seeds! We also ordered some drinks. The curry drink (forgot the name) was surprisingly good despite the odd list of ingredients that went in. Their local black cherry soda was also very nice. Service is great and very helpful when it came to recommendations. The space is small and doesn't allow dogs which was a bummer but still a spot I would come back to try more of their seasonal items!

Everything was really good that night, but we sat outside, near the end where they used to have a yoga studio, but now it's a bar of some sort. The competing music was annoying. My husband and I returned again and everything was back to normal. We did sit closer to the front door, but the music seemed to be just fine. Eric was our server with assistance from Em and Brian. Super friendly, attentive, and took the time to walk us through the beer options while we already had our food picked out. Service like that makes a difference. We started with the mushroom soup (soup of the day). It was fully blended and smooth -- no big chunks -- and while it wasn't the most memorable soup ever, it definitely hit the spot after being out in the cold all day. The Oyster Rockefeller was the highlight. Perfectly done. The oysters tasted fresh, the spinach flavor came through nicely, and the crispy topping added the perfect crunch. I planned to have just one... ended up eating two. For the main, we ordered the steak medium well. It came out more charred on the outside than expected, so it wasn't amazing, but still solid. The fries were great though -- especially paired with beer. Overall, the food was good but not extraordinary. However, the service -- especially from Alonso -- really elevated the experience. Because of that, and the cozy post-snowboard vibe, this earns 5 stars.

We arrived and were greeted warmly by our host and seated at a table in front of the fireplace. The restaurant is very small and cozy. Our server took our drink orders and brought out a bread basket. We all ordered the following: - Soup of the day (loaded baked potato) - short rib fries - oven roasted Frenched chicken breast - chicken Parmesan - pan seared chinook salmon - shrimp scampi There was a small hiccup when my 10-year-old son noticed another table had been served chicken tenders and fries. We weren't offered a kids' menu, so he had ordered chicken Parmesan from the regular menu. Not a huge issue, but it would have been nice to know kid-friendly options were available. Unfortunately, service timing became more of a problem toward the end of the meal. After we had mostly finished eating, our server asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu. We said yes, and I gently reminded her we were celebrating a birthday. When she returned, she brought a complimentary birthday dessert with a candle (very thoughtful gesture!) but our dinner plates, empty glasses, and general table clutter were still in front of us. We also still hadn't seen the dessert menu we'd asked for, which made the moment feel rushed and a bit awkward. Needless to say, our server seemed to catch on that I was disappointed in the service towards the end of our meal. It seemed like she was the only server on the floor, too, which probably explained the lack of attentiveness and timing issues. Overall, the food was alright and everyone enjoyed their meals. It was an okay dining experience but the service could definitely use some improvement. For a restaurant with higher menu prices and a more upscale presentation (linen napkins, cozy ambiance, etc.), the level of service didn't quite match my expectations. I would still return as it could've just been an "off" night and their martinis were great!

This was our first time staying for the weekend at the lodge, and we were genuinely excited about the experience. Unfortunately, the meal was very disappointing--especially given the price point. Our starter salad was mostly iceberg lettuce, the lamb starter was undercooked, and while the scallops were very good, $8 per scallop felt excessive. The beef Wellington, which we were particularly excited about, was bland and the pastry was doughy. For a dinner that totaled over $300 for two people, we expected a much higher level of quality and creativity. Compared to our previous visits, the food felt like it had gone noticeably downhill. We tried to snag a late New Year's Eve reservation and struck out, but the staff was super accommodating and fit us in on a following night. Very glad they did. The space itself is small, cozy, and intimate in the best way. It feels warm and inviting, especially after a long day in the cold, and sets the tone for a relaxed, linger-over-wine kind of dinner. The food was excellent across the board. We ordered elk, cod, and scallops and the scallops were the clear mic drop. Perfectly cooked, rich, and memorable. Our server recommended a bottle of wine that paired beautifully with everything and felt like someone actually listened instead of just pointing at the most expensive option. Service all around was warm, attentive, and unpretentious, which is not always a given in resort towns. Dessert was sorbet, simple but refreshing, and my girlfriend ordered a port she really enjoyed. After dinner we took the rest of the wine, grabbed a seat by the fireplace, and played chess, which felt like the most civilized way possible to end a night in the snow. Logistics wise, getting here can be a little annoying, especially if you are staying up at Mammoth Mountain Inn. You will want to call a taxi and plan ahead. That said, the extra effort was completely worth it. This is easily one of the best restaurants in Mammoth and the kind of place that makes you forget about the drive once the first plate hits the table.
