First time in Mammoth California and we were looking for something to eat for dinner since the ski resort doesn't have too many options. The drive down wasn't bad took about 15mins. We had a couple of options to pick from but thought to try this place. So glad we did. It felt very homey and the vibes were so nice. We ordered the Juanita's salad, duck quesadilla, and a lobster burrito with Spanish rice and refried beans. I also got a virgin peach margarita and my fiancé got XX beer. The staff was very friendly and attentive as well. I don't know what some of the reviews are saying. The food we got were so delicious. The lobster burrito and the duck quesadilla were so flavorful. Ive never had one like this before. I honestly think the food Mexican food here is way better than whatever we have in Hawaii. It was very chill and the server would check in on us and made sure we were good. If you're in this area, I would definitely recommend you to come try their duck and lobster items. Also the portion is very shareable so keep that in mind! I would definitely eat here again if we come back to Mammoth!

Happy Hour here is from 2 PM-5PM and offers discounts on the TJ Margarita, the House wines such as the CK Mondovi and an assortment of other items that were too many for me to track when my sever told me about 'em! The vegetarian fajita burrito is delicious when made vegan (hold the cheese & sour cream). Don't forget to ask for jalapeños! See photo for the yummy insides of that fajita burrito!! They are huge. I took the 2nd 1/2 of that burrito with me for day two on the mountain. The cantina is upstairs and it's generally hopping in the late afternoon for aprés. It has a nice wooden ceiling & floor plus a palm tree decor that makes the ambiance cozy

This is our second visit to Roberto's Cafe after our friend's introduced us to Roberto's last year. The food was just as delicious as our last visit. We walked in and were seated immediately upstairs in the bar area. Our server Anna greeted us and brought us water, chips and salsa. Anna was very friendly and attentive throughout the evening. The chips are delicious. You can tell they are home made. The salsa was super fresh and tasty as well. We ordered a dirty martini and a regular margarita. My husband really liked the margarita but something was off with the martini. Possibly too much vermouth or bad olive juice. I ordered the enchiladas rancheras. Two carne asada cheese enchiladas covered with sour cream sauce. Topped with guacamole, olives, and tomatoes served with rice and beans. $23.45. Really gooey delicious enchiladas. My husband ordered the polo asada burrito. Marinated chicken and refried beans wrapped in a flour tortilla, then covered with Roberto's sauce and cheese. Served with guacamole and sour cream - 18.95. My husband loved it. We both said we will always come back to Roberto's each time we visit Mammoth.

Only taking a star off for the fact that we showed up at 4pm and I think that was shift change, because we sat ourselves and had to wait about 15 minutes for service. I'm not sure why no one can take a drink order, sit people, or take a food order?? The bartender looked SO busy pouring one beer...Eventually we did get service and everyone was very quick and helpful. Food was really good! I got the torta and shared a quesadilla. The bar was on the second floor so there was a nice view. I'd go back!

Yummy mexican spot in mammoth with generous portions! We were seated right away & given water & chips & salsa. They have happy hour 2-5PM. Getting the attention of the workers can be hard, possibly because they are busy & understaffed? But the time between ordering & getting our foods on the table is pretty quick. I enjoyed my carne asada plate, it was really filling. Bathrooms are clean. Parking plaza is spacious. Overall I would come back if i'm snowboarding & craving mexican food!

Great for a casual sit down spot in town. Has a few games playing and good food. Large quantities for a good price. Service was great as well, amazingly nice server and overall chill vibe. I will definitely be returning when I'm in town!

    Cheers to happy hour Margaritas

Food portions are very generous. Indoor and outdoor seating. Bar on the second floor has many tvs for sports games. Staff is mostly friendly a few staff maybe should consider something not in the hospitality industry and also consider that Mammoth is a tourist destination and not be treated as if the customer is doing you a favor talking specifically about the male host who is the primary greeter. Happy hour specials are great. Bar drinks were good and strong! One negative for a Mexican restaurant maybe play some Spanish music in the background just saying.

I've been here quite a few times. Maybe like 5? And every time I think it's mid... UNTIL I FINALLY ORDERED THE DUCK BURRITO. Before, 3/5. Now? 5/5. Amazing. Grand. Fabulous. Crispy duck, even inside of the burrito. Multiple friends who tried it off of my plate have even likened it to Peking duck with the crisp. Totally blown away. Also the chips and salsa are quite good here -- big fan. Also prefer dining upstairs; it's more of a vibe.

We came here with a large group on a Friday night. We waited about 10 mins then We were sat in the bar area. Service was fast after that. Yummy chips, salsa, and guacamole came out. Our pitchers of beer and margaritas were always full. The food came out fast as well. I loved my cheese enchiladas and my husband enjoyed his tostada. The whole table was happy with everything. Great way to treat a large party!

We are not from Mammoth. We were just here visiting the week of October 19, 2025. We actually ate at Roberto's twice while we were here. Pretty acceptable Mexican food for such a tourist area. No complaints at all. Not quite the kind of Mexican food you get in Southern California where we live but again no complaints.

    Maria L.

We had (1) chicken enchiladas with rice and beans and (2) carnitas burritos. They were both delicious. However I thought the chips were a bit too thick. I also think they could have done a better job with plating. The plates should have been wiped clean on the edges so it doesn't look so messy with the food in it. The salsa was good. Service was good. Prices were good. We would come back to try other dishes.

Are their beans vegetarian, no lard? How about rice and red sauce enchiladas etc? Do they use chicken broth or any animal products in these dishes that can be vegetarian?

Hey. I'm not sure of all those items, but their Spanish Rice is cooked in Chicken broth.

Are there gluten-free options? I mean, beyond standard corn tortillas, like is there a dedicated fryer, what about pinto beans and rice? Thank you.

Michael, No I do not know about gluten-free foods. I would suggest that you just give them a call. They would be more then happy to answer your Questions. I would bet that they do have special menu. Hope this is helpful. Kathryn

Are they open as they don't answer the phone?

They are open. Like many restaurants, they are trying to find their way through the Covid restrictions. They need to figure out their outdoor seating, telephone orders and staffing. The food is great though.

Is it pet friendly? the pictures show an outdoor dining area

Yes they do have outdoor dining that I'm sure allow pets. Oh yea, great Mexican food too. 👍

We were going to get several appetizers to share, but the first one was so disappointing we decided to cut our losses. The chicken, Asa Buco, we ordered was extremely dry, and we had expressed concerns on it being too spicy for my mother, and our server failed to mention the accompanying coleslaw was spicy with slices of jalapeño pepper in it, Our waiter was also the host and disappeared for most of the time we were there and the other servers were just hanging out at the bar - I had to walk my glass to the bar to get a refill of Coca-Cola... From what we were told, they coordinate hours with The Yodler across the street, which handles lunch service. We only came for dinner, mostly out of convenience since we were staying at the hotel. The first night, I ordered the bison osso bucco -- oh my god, it was really good. Tender, flavorful, and served with mashed potatoes and green beans. Zero complaints. My husband ordered the salmon and was pretty disappointed; it tasted like it had been frozen far too long. The second night, I went with the short rib grilled cheese with tomato soup, and again -- delicious. Honestly, what's a better combo than grilled cheese and tomato soup? Now add short rib? Wow. Meanwhile, my husband got the burger, which was cold, dry, and flavorless. He couldn't finish it, although the fries were very good. So either I'm excellent at ordering... or he just had bad luck two nights in a row. Bottom line: don't go out of your way to eat here, but you can find something good on the menu. They have a full bar and lots of TVs, which is nice after a ski day. There are definitely better restaurants down the mountain in town, but if you don't feel like driving, this place will do just fine.
