Five stars for the food, three stars for the host/ making reservations with a live person. Similar to the negative reviews, the host needs training. I called and inquired about a few things and when we arrived, we were told a different story. Long story short, use OpenTable to make your reservations and avoid the headache. Outside Pods- If you're interested in sitting in the pods outside, it's an additional $50-100 (depending on the day) and can fit 6-8 people. We had several kids in our party and they enjoyed the novelty of it. Our waiter Cam was great and made up for the poor service with the host. He had great recommendations as all were spot on. Cam recommended "family style" as many of the entrees are large and it gives you a chance to sample everything. We started with the asparagus summer rolls and tricolore salad. Both were delicious and refreshing. For the entrees we shared the cacio e pepe, margherita pizza, orechiette nero and chicken parmesan. Again, everything was excellent. For dessert, the gelato comes with three huge scoops along with three zeppoles (Italian donuts). The food was excellent and probably one of my new favorites in Mammoth. read more

I've been here so many times during snow boarding season. My group comes up like once week. I'm in town for forth of July weekend. I don't think I'll be coming back. They're on a reservation only policy at the moment and they told me I couldn't place an order to go after 6pm. The food is good. Their policies are unreasonable. If you're up here for a last minute trip I would recommended a different place there are better restaurants that are more accommodating. The only thing this place has going for it is the location. Wow what amazing restaurant! We went to the former place and loved it. Happy to find out all pasta and sauces are freshly made in-house,and HUGE pizza oven inside restaurant. We had the SALUMI red sauce pizza and the RIGATONI with arrabbiata sauce.For dessert we shared the salted carmel gelato with some type of donut.Everything was amazing! Fantastic service and fun vibe. We stopped in on a Friday night. We were happy to find a couple of seats at the bar which had a nice vibe. Our bartender Brittany was very friendly and efficient. We ordered dirty martinis which she made perfectly cold like we requested. For a second drink I ordered the Aperol Sprotz and it was very good as well. We were excited to order the beef carpaccio as we thought it was excellent last year and obviously unforgettable. Unfortunately, they changed the recipe and it just wasn't the same. Instead of the little round potatoes, they changed it to hash brown sticks. It wasn't as creamy and flavorful as last year either. Such a bummer. The salumi pizza with red sauce, calabrese salami, capicola, speck, parmigiano reggiano was still tasty. The crust is really delicious. We also ordered the Chicken Parmesan which was very moist and flavorful. We like Vulcania but it is a little pricy for the portion size. I realize it is a ski mounts town and everything is more expensive here. I do hope they change the carpaccio recipe back to the previous version. read more

Second timing dining here in the igloo ,,, service or lack of this time around was disappointing,,,, the asparagus was just a terrible concept to eat or share. Awkward mess a hard pass ! The barramundi over complicated not as good as their swordfish dish not on the menu currently. I'd pass , stars of the night were the lamb raviolis and the rigatoni pasta both delicious. Seasoning on the broccoli terrible tasted like gasoline not good. We booked mentioned a birthday when asked and not even a complimentary dessert till we asked on a close to 300 tab. We were staying at the Westin Monache and when I found that Michael and Bryan Voltaggio had a restaurant nearby we had to check it out. We were lucky enough to have Natalie as our server and she took excellent care of us. We started with the calamari with the most excellent marinara dipping sauce. It was so good we almost ate it all without taking a picture. Then we shared the Margarita pizza and the crust tasted of garlic which we loved. Again the same excellent marinara sauce and fontina cheese. The restaurant had a great vibe which is what you would expect for the Voltaggio brothers. The server was super attentive and made up for the rudeness but nonetheless, was a bit bummed with how much attitude I was given. My husband and I decided to dine at Vulcania on 8/6/2026, and what started as a nice evening outside turned into an unexpectedly memorable experience! Our host greeted us warmly, and I believe the manager was the one who showed us to our table outside. Our server was wonderful, very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. We ordered our drinks, and then the rain started. We tried to stay outside, but when the rain picked up, our server kindly encouraged us to move inside. We decided to sit at the bar, and honestly, we are so glad we did! That's where we met Cam and Gracie, and they were absolutely fantastic. They weren't just making cocktails, they were taking orders, serving food, checking on guests, and doing everything in between. By this point, everyone had moved inside, and the restaurant was CRAZY busy. Yet somehow, Cam and Gracie continued to engage with us and the other guests while running around taking care of everything. What really stood out to us was the teamwork. It felt like the entire staff, including the manager, was truly "all hands on deck." Everyone was pitching in, and despite how busy and chaotic things became, guests were still being taken care of. Of course, when a restaurant suddenly goes from having guests spread out to everyone being inside because of the rain, some delays are understandable. If you're looking to rush through a meal and leave quickly, then a fast-food restaurant might be a better choice. We were happy to relax and enjoy the evening. Our food was beautifully presented, arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and most importantly, everything was delicious. The hot dishes were actually HOT, which we really appreciated! And every drink Cam made for us was absolutely spot-on. This was not our first time at Vulcania, but it was our first time sitting at the bar--and we're so glad we did. Although the food here tasted really delicious and the service was great, I expected more food that came out with each dish. We had a family of 5 and they only gave us 5 raviolis in the ravioli bolognese which each of us only got to eat 1. Also, I expected a bigger portion of the "big" meatball. The meatball was a tiny bit bigger than the average size meatball but that was it. Also there wasn't much gnocchi in the gnocchi dish, but it tasted excellent. This was our second time at Vulcania in two years. Our first try was soon after they opened, and a bit of a dud service-wise. Thanks to Tess, our amazing server this time, we look forward a a return trip and won't be waiting another two years!! The food was exceptional and Tess set reasonable expectations portion- and timing-wise (the food comes out as it is ready, not necessarily in the courses as you might otherwise expect). Ordered three entrees. Everyone in the group also ordered drinks. The pizza came first and we asked our server with red dyed hair when our drinks would be coming. She just stated "our bar is busy". No apologies for the delay. No optimistic attitude and saying they were coming soon. She was very chatty with all the other servers and didn't seem too concerned with attending to people dining at the restaurant. Finally the drinks come and one pasta comes. We had to wait longer for the final pasta dish to come. Not sure why they didn't serve all our food at once. Isn't that typically how it's done? Best part of the meal were the drinks. We had dinner here during our Mammoth getaway. It's a very busy place because of its popularity with not just tourists but also for locals. We're glad we were able to book a reservation. We actually wanted to sit at one of the outdoor igloos but we were told that reservations were months ahead so maybe next time we visit. So we ordered the following to share: SALUMI $28 Crushed San Marzano tomatoes, calabrese salami, capicola, speck, parmigiano reggiano VOLTAGGI-O'S $24 A version of the canned childhood favorite. Simply brilliantly prepared and presented. We had the massive, unique Caesar Salad, the spectacular Ravioli Lamb Bolognese, and the Potato Gnocchi prepared-by Michael Voltaggio himself. This past year my wife and I got into a bunch of competition food shows, and we love watching the Voltaggio brothers. I've often overlooked this place since I usually don't eat in the village, but we will definitely be back! Came here for lunch with the family since we forgot to grab a reservation for dinner. The lunch menu is pretty limited but everything was done well with fresh quality ingredients. If you're a mushroom lover like me, then the fungi pizza is the best. Funky and creamy goodness packed with yummy mushrooms. The crust was cooked to precision with a nice outer crunch and light and airy on the inside. The tricolore salad was super refreshing and colorful. Mozzarella sticks were really solid, the cheese blend they use is delicious and the bread crumb batter was perfectly crispy. Calamari was my favorite app, the lemon garlic aioli and pepperoncinis elevate the dish to the next level! I'd pass on the rigatoni next time, it was good but nothing special. The ribeye steak add on was cooked to your preference and nicely seasoned. We loved the elevated modern interior decor and the center bar was a beauty to look at. This is the second time we went to this restaurant in one month, the service is impeccable. The staff is very flexible and try to accommodate a group of 14 people as much as they could. We were very appreciative of that. The food is also very yummy, the pizzas were great and so the salads, I would love to visit this place anytime I'm in that town. The server suggested that two of us order 4-5 dishes meant to be shared. We ordered the Caesar salad, which was enough to feed 6 people, and overdressed. The caprese salad was different - great burrata and pesto, the cherry tomatoes were cooked and chilled. The accompanying Parmesan rice crescents were very odd and chewy. One of my favorites restaurants in Mammoth. The food is fantastic, service is excellent (hustling with a smile), and the ambience is great. Haven't tried dinner in one of the pods which looks fun too. Fantastic birthday dinner for me!!!! We had the spaghetti Arabiata, brussel sprouts, fungi pizza and tiramisu. Yum! Despite being pretty busy on a Friday night, service was excellent and our server made great recommendations. The food is absolutely wonderful- by far our favorite in Mammoth when it comes to fine dining. They do have staffing issues (mostly off season) but people, it's mammoth. It's not LA, and although I've never personally had service issues (everyone has been lovely), you should come for the food, let the night be slow and enjoy the vibes. There's no TVs because it's all about who you're with and indulging quality meals. They can be the busiest spot because of how good the food is so give the team a break. This was our favorite restaurant in Mammoth until tonight. We have been to Vulcania two or three times and we usually go when we first get into town because it was a special place. This time not so much. We started with the scampi appetizer which was $26 for 5 relatively small shrimp. My wife tried hers first and when I asked her how it was she said have you tried it? I took a bite and the shrimp was total mush. I spit it out and we told our server. She took it back to the kitchen and came back and said the chefs said it was definitely bad shrimp and that it wouldn't be on our bill. No kidding! They should have offered us a complimentary appetizer for serving us bad shrimp. The rest of the service was OK although once she realized our meal was going south she kind of checked out on us. And when the bill came, the scampi was still on it! Our server, Dakota, had to get a manager's approval to take it off our bill. To the manager at Vulcania. You should be ashamed of yourself. I had one of the worst experiences I've ever had at Vulcania in Mammoth village. What should have been a pleasant dinner that was reserved a month in advance for myself, my husband, and 8 year old daughter quickly turned into an uncomfortable and upsetting situation due entirely to the manager's behavior. From the moment an issue was raised, the manager was shockingly rude, dismissive, and confrontational. Instead of listening or attempting to resolve the situation professionally, he spoke over me, showed clear hostility, and made me feel unwelcome. It was not just poor customer service -- it felt personal and targeted. It was pure discrimination staring at me in the face. It was so hostile the hostess was in shock. Even more concerning was the way we were treated compared to other guests. The difference in tone, body language, and overall treatment was impossible to ignore. No customer should ever feel singled out or discriminated against while simply trying to enjoy a meal. Hospitality starts at the top, and unfortunately, the management here sets a terrible example. Until there is accountability and serious improvement in how customers are treated, I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone. I will not be returning. read more

Opened by the Voltaggio brothers, the restaurant is nicely decorated and the food is overall good. I enjoyed the cheese pizza and the Voltaggio pasta which had a nice elevated twist to childhood canned pasta. The tricolore salad had a nice tangy bitter flavor and crunchy texture to it and it was refreshing. We tried the branzino which I felt was overpriced for what you get. It comes with a filet of branzino with a bunch of cauliflower sides cooked in different ways for $40. While the branzino was cooked well, the sides didn't complement the fish. I was expecting to get the whole branzino for this price. Service was attentive. We had no issues. The desserts were on the sweet side especially the tiramisu. Made a reservation for a Friday night and they were packed. A bit chaotic and I initially got rubbed the wrong way when the host helped the group behind me even though I was next in line standing right in front of her... Once we got seated the waitress was amazing! The food was very good. We got the Vul-tagios (similar to spaghetti-os), caesar salad, and margarita pizza! The meat in the pasta was moist and seasoned excellently. The salad was already dressed perfectly. The pizza was the lightly crispy with a thinner consistency (which I enjoy). I just thought the cheese was a bit chewy where if I took a bite, it dragged the whole cheese off my pizza slice. The tiramisu was very very good! Not your average tiramisu. The cake is a date cake with some nuts and a crunchy layer in between the cake and cream. Amazing though ! read more

On our latest trip to Mammoth, was excited to check out this restaurant opened by the Voltaggio brothers. The Top Chef alums have always been interesting and fun to follow - and definitely wanted to see what they were bringing to Mammoth. Conveniently located in The Village - as you walk up, they have the outdoor igloos, which can seat anywhere between 6-8 I believe. We were sat at a table inside - but may opt next time to choose the igloo experience outside. Restaurant was buzzing, we were seated for a party of 7 towards the back of the restaurant. I liked the choice of stemware they offered - more of a modern casual vibe they were going for (no stem on my wine glass). Great choice of wine. Went for a few of the options the server recommended. Had to go with the Voltaggio lamb ravioli bolognese, a couple of the margarita pizzas,and the pastas. The standout was the spaghetti and meatball and the margarita pizzas. I found most of the dishes to be slightly over-cheesed (which cheese lovers may welcome) and a tad over seasoned. But all in all - a great addition to Mammoth. If you're near the Canyon lodge village nice cool place to dine at. They have Igloo seating if you're into that stuff, but require advance reservations. If you love cheese pizza it's pretty good with tons of melted cheese. Voltagio-O is a take on kids pasta with a creamy sauce and meatball slapped on it. Tricolore is more of a crisp and bitter salad due to endives, radicchio and arugula and grape fruit. If butter is not your thing you might consider passing. Branzino is not like your classic while fish but more of a strip filet. That was ok. Desserts gelato swirl ice cream good but the donut was ok. Last night I called to order takeout. The woman who answered said she could take my order and asked my name. She then asked what I wanted. I started with Chicken Parmigiana, and she said she would have to check with the kitchen to see if I could order it out. A minute later she retuned and said that they could not do any takeout because they were busy. I reminded her that she said she could. She said sorry and hung up. I cannot recommend Vulcania. The lunch menu was such a yawn, we chose to have apps: beef carpaccio, cheese sti...er, smoked mozzarella frito, and ham and pineapple (the menu's lonely example of their humor) but the Caprese showed up. I can sum up the three dishes we had as "tomato sauce three ways." It's a really well-balanced sauce, but come on guys, where's the Ink spirit that brought us burnt wood ice cream and creamed corn ravioli?
